Great video. I don't know if offset was explained properly but from my limited research, it seems that it is the current position/index of where a consumer is for a given partition. This is used so that Kafka knows the next sequence of data to give to the consumer.

Very great tutorial! Thanks a lot! The concept of producer and consumer is the base of any informatic workflow that I can learn during course of university lad example Operating system exams. My challenge is to understand the best approach to port a classical system backend frontend with ad example a request rest of a angular client that want a result search of items with a simple query hibernate into a simple kafka infrastructure. I imagine a "consumer" client that submit a query and return the result by the "producer" server datastore like oracle. What is the best approach to transform this classical flow into a stream kafka? What is the minimal effort to have this objective? In Italy the major of society dont have kafka and use this classical complex infrastructure, but my objective is to rewrite a classic application using the streams of kafka with the less rewrite as possible. I will study better this. Thanks
