This is exactly what I thought, sadly. I used to have much higher expectations of Bremont, because they made remarkable watches. To see them fall so low in their standards…
That's a nice piece but they really should be priced up alongside Christopher Ward because given everything on offer that's really their target market. Actually I think that might be doing CW a disservice. But yes, a £600 cost would be more appropriate.
What does Bremont want to be? and what is this watch? a copy of Hamilton?, a Speedmaster Mark II with Panerai tints? Whatever Bremont wants to be just demonstrates a lost company with a complete lack of brand identity, and this watch is just horrible. The price is absurd for this absurdity
This watch should be called "Cerrato", like the name of Bremont's new CEO. If you have to change so much, you might as well change everything, even the name of the company.
I actually like the watch itself, but what I can't wrap my head around is exactly what you nailed-the corporatizing of the image of the company. It's a little insulting the the potential consumer that they think so little of us that we wouldn't expect more creativity and at least a little innovation. An uninspired design, an old movement, and zero innovation is begging to be asked to disappear into the horological history books.
I think the text on the dial is too big and bold. It’s like the watch is shouting its brand and model name at you. Good watches don’t need to do that. I don’t mind the case shape and the large crown but I definitely looks like the bracelet needs to be redesigned to give it more flexibility and adjustability. Especially at this price point.
Definitely not for me. Anyways I would pass regardless of the design, I won't buy another Sellita SW-200. As a matter of fact, the lack of a seconds hand is going to be a huge issue for this watch because the SW-200 cannot be handwound often without damaging the movement. Their whole rebrand has been a debacle but IMO the Cubitus takes the crown for worst watch (and CEO) of 2024. Awesome video and props to Exquisite Timepieces.
I honestly really like the design of this watch. But as you point out, it's too expensive for what it is. Half the price of this and they'd fly off the shelves.
I have a Terra Nova model and absolutely love it. All the things you mention such as big crown and block Lume were the very things that I liked. It's a watch unlike any other, that also gives it appeal. It's solid and well made, comfy to wear and functional. Very happy with mine.
The butterfly clasp and case shape are a bit of an odd choice for that dial. The lack of a seconds hand is also very odd for that dial choice. I would have preferred BREMONT without the compass at 12. Oh well, nice video!
Mbro, in the UK you can currently pick up a Citizen 'Garrison' Super Titanium with a similar aesthetic for £149. Titanium bracelet, sapphire crystal, great lume, and 100 meters of water resistance. Case closed 🎉
I recently visited the Bremont AD in Bluewater shopping Mall (UK). The two members of staff were terrific and we chatted about watches in general, and the older Bremont models in particular. I deliberately avoided talking about the new branding as I don’t like the new models and I feel that the departure of founders Nick and Giles may have delivered the final death blow to this relatively young watch brand. I tried on the Broadsword Bronze with the teal face, which is a really fine looking watch and for which I would receive a 15% discount as an ex member of HM Armed Forces. I also tried on the Martin Baker 2 with blue dial and black/orange strap, which felt like a quality watch and worth the asking price. I left the shop seriously contemplating purchasing both watches to add to my collection. However, a couple of weeks later I won the Rolex “waiting list lottery” when I got the call for a James Cameron Deepsea which I snapped up. I guess my Bremont ownership journey will have to wait a bit longer. 😢
I feel like the Bremont just went 5 guys. Selling absolutely nothing special but charging 4 times the price because thats the only way you know you have something "special". The designs are generic, like the logo, the finish is average, the specifications are well below the price point and overall, a massive disappointment. I own a Martin Baker 2, but i will definitely not be buying any more. Also, writing London on the dial, why? Theyre not from London, they're not made in London, it feels like an artificial stamp to slap on an already disingenuous watch. Very disappointing.
I like the look of the bracelet. I don't mind the lack of a seconds hand. The problem for me is that the case, dial, and crown look horrible. If they had gotten that right, I wouldn't have an issue with the off-the-shelf movement.
Great video. I am only interested in old logo Bremont products. Since their rebranding, I acquired my first Bremont.. An S-500 Supermarine. It exceeded my expectations in quality, finish and function. I was very lucky to acquire it brand new for less than half of normal retail and from an AD. Their products seem exceptional, but I am not in love with the new logo and the crowded dials from the new CEO. I do like some of their new watches colors but not enough to buy one.
I actually like the terra Nova...😅 It looks quite similar to my rado Diastar that I love. Also a watch that splits the audience... But well. Perhaps that is me.
Okay fair point, BUT at 8:03 I really like how they have a rock climber for their marketing. So freaking cool! And I wish Tudor did that for the pelagos 39 line instead of their marketing being people standing by a shallow pool of water. Definitely would buy a Tudor over this but maybe Tudor could learn something from them.
Ja that looks like a micro brand watch for up to 1000bugs max i would say. You need to be a Bremont fan to purchase this over a tudor ranger imho. But like you say.. are Bremont fans still on it?
The font size is a bit too large. Not a bad looking case but it does lack a bit of style and character. Bezel should be more defined. It's almost invisible. I don't mind the bracelet. That watch needs a splash of red. I don't care where, just get it in there. Not sure what Bremont was thinking with removing the seconds hand.
The brand has no cache that warrants the pricing…. I really cannot imagine they did any market research before relaunching. Having said that, I think the Supermarine ceramic is very attractive, but it’s £2000 more expensive than it should be.
Great review, Christopher Ward should have taken them over, CW has no brand identity besides good design at good prices, Bremont had a vision British watchmaking and Aviation, CW business acumen plus Bemont prestige could have worked even keeping both brands, in a Rolex Tudor model, but too late - it looks like a Diesel watch. Cheers from England
I will add that they had a very cool company image and logo and albeit brief, an interesting history. I loved the propeller logo and the connection to aviation. I think they have absolutely destroyed their previous reputation and I’m only going to buy old logo Bremont watches.
Its very strange, they are going after the Panerai style whilst Panerai are on the downslope themselves and then 4k for an sw200? Idk. Bremont had some seriously cool watches because they felt built for a purpose, this new one is just a watch. However the new Terra Nova date does look nice and the Supermarines aren’t bad (apart form the fugazi Breitling bracelet) and they are definitely more mass market and maybe thats all they care about.
Bremont had the Jaguar problem. People wanted the brand to keep their brand identity, but it hadn't been working for several years. Most aviation-heavy watch brands just don't do as well. So in a market filled with flight watches that aren't doing as hot as divers (even with their heritage), I think Bremont simply didn't want to continue that route. I hate the whole rebranding and do think they should've done things differently, but I can understand why they did what they did. Still overpriced as heck!
Not sure I see the Panerai connection, TBH, to me it just seems like an awkward attempt to create a different-looking field watch. There's not much evidence of a strategic thought process.
Haha I actually didn’t notice th at it didn’t have a seconds hand !! That is a HUGE oversight for a field style watch, not having a running seconds on a quartz is fine but on a mechanical hmm Why get this over a Hamilton khaki murph ?!?
Bremont started out so strong. Sad to have seen them falter as they tried to scale and even worse that this empty rebrand has erased everything interesting about the company. Next stop, QVC...
I own 7 Bremont’s .. all of the are awesome .. but all of them are from the previous ‘Nick & Giles’ era. After seeing the total crap they’ve come out with I’m never buying anything from them again unless it’s an older piece.
The end links pulled away from the case towards the end of the video. You pressed them back flush and didn't mention it. You could have started off and ended the video there. I was actually liking the watch until I witnessed the end links separate from the case. That just killed it😑
I like(d) Bremont and it's sad that this rebranding is so bad it'll probably kill the brand. I cannot imagine anyone buying one and I've already seen them with hefty discounts which suggests no one is. The supermarine GMT is actually OK but the last generation one is much better looking and is now much cheaper while stock lasts.
The new CEO must be planted by competitors to destroy bremont, lol. Also, what happened to the English brothers? They just left the company without any explanation or announcement. If bremont wanted to survive they should have kept the old designs and just slashed the prices.
Bracelet integration doesnt look that great. Panerai do the cushion case much better. Like why would you get this? If you want a field watch you'd get a hamilton and if you want a big crown cushion case watch you'd get a radiomir with a 1940s case. They took the worst parts of both watches. The finish on this does not look better than fieldwatches under 800$.
its funny how bremont thinks they can charge rolex prices when they have no heritage. i could almost buy into that fake story of how they came to be if they were priced more reasonably.
For me, Bremont have well and truly screwed up with their new branding and watch redesigns, they look awfully cheap, when they're not. I see Bremont heading in only one direction.
That is one ugly, cheap looking watch. Terribly proportioned case and dial details. Ugly font. No seconds. No microadjusting clasp. Sellita movement. £3,000? No thanks.
Jesus ... the prices on their pieces... can't believe someone is buying them
No one is buying them. Hence the trouble Bremint are in!
Yeah, no justification for Bremont’s pricing.
Bremont has become a very expensive Fossil.
The lack of a seconds hand is crazy.
Never even spotted it didn't have second hand (only watched first 30 seconds and realised I couldn't look that the bremont any longer).
I refuse to believe anyone is buying these. Imagine looking at CW, Farer, Vertex etc. and thinking "Nah, I want a Bremont".
Facts those are nicer watches and significantly cheaper, these look and feel like they should be no more than $1000 period
😂😂😂😂😂
Looks like an Aliexpress watch
Don't insult Ali brands😂
This is exactly what I thought, sadly. I used to have much higher expectations of Bremont, because they made remarkable watches. To see them fall so low in their standards…

A field watch without a seconds hand, looks so wrong.
This watch should be called "Cerrato", like the name of Bremont's new CEO. If you have to change so much, you might as well change everything, even the name of the company.
Some watch companies seem to only exist as a front for a deeper laundering scheme. That has to be the only explanation.
I actually like the watch itself, but what I can't wrap my head around is exactly what you nailed-the corporatizing of the image of the company. It's a little insulting the the potential consumer that they think so little of us that we wouldn't expect more creativity and at least a little innovation. Looks like it was designed in Microsoft Paint in the early 1990s by an intern.
Bremont completely stripped their brand of character.
Bremont just made an expensive Hamilton without the heritage
Yup
The new folks at Bremont were imagining what could be unburdened by what has been. Great analysis on the watch!
I think the text on the dial is too big and bold. It’s like the watch is shouting its brand and model name at you. Good watches don’t need to do that. Totally agree.
I honestly really like the design of this watch. But as you point out, it's too expensive for what it is. Half the price of this and they'd fly off the shelves.
This is like a $900 watch for $3k. I get what luxury is supposed to be, but this isn’t it
I have a Terra Nova model and absolutely love it. All the things you mention such as big crown and block Lume were the very things that I liked. It's a watch unlike any other, that also gives it appeal. It's solid and well made, comfy to wear and functional. Very happy with mine.

This Bremont has a very similar case as RZE Valour. And they offer Ti for 450 with Ti bracket.
They have lost their way. They are like Tag.
Hodinkee had these Bremont models for sale at a huge discount at around 2k during the last liquidation of their online store not too long ago...

No one wants either of the watches you mentioned
@@dmoneydmoney6050except this guy, which makes your point invalid.
@@dmoneydmoney6050Except HE said he liked it, so it's obviously not "nobody."
I was thinking the same thing but Rado still has the heritage and material though
I actually like the Bremont Terra Nova. Should ge $1500-2000 starting price though
Okay fair point, BUT at 8:03 I really like how they have a rock climber for their marketing. So freaking cool! And I wish Tudor did that for the pelagos 39 line instead of their marketing being people standing by a shallow pool of water. The rebrand is an unmitigated disaster
Ja that looks like a micro brand watch for up to 1000bugs max i would say. You need to be a Bremont fan to purchase this over a tudor ranger imho. But like you say.. are Bremont fans still on it?
The new CEO of Bremont used to work at Panerai. Certainly no coincidence.
Is a company rebranding just an admission of failure?
There is a lot of pay for play in the watch RUclips industry.
The grift that keeps on grifting.

R.I.P Bremont !
Fontenstein.
You can actually see flaws in the hands without using any macro, that's crazy, also people call Vertex overpriced 😂
I will add that they had a very cool company image and logo and albeit brief, an interesting history. I loved the propeller logo and the connection to aviation. I think they have absolutely destroyed their previous reputation and I’m only going to buy old logo Bremont watches.
Yeah this is bad but have you seen the Patek Phillipe Cubitus?
Its very strange, they are going after the Panerai style whilst Panerai are on the downslope themselves and then 4k for an sw200? Idk. Panerai is doing very well. Your dara is wrong.
I really don't mind the look of this watch, but no seconds hand combined with the ridiculous price makes this a watch for exactly nobody.

well I have 5k to spend on a new watch.. I want a Bremont! 😂😂😂
Is that crown crooked slightly? Or is it me 🙃
Bill ackman is going to take a bath on this one, makes me feel ok.
Sold my Bremont S500 after the rebrand, the entire new direction feels soulless and well said corporate. Davide destroyed the brand
Not sure I see the Panerai connection, TBH, to me it just seems like an awkward attempt to create a different-looking field watch. There's not much evidence of a strategic thought process.
This rebrand was very disappointing. My s500 is one of my favorites, but these new pieces look awful.

One of the worst designs I’ve seen

The laziest case design I've ever seen.
The old line up had style. This has none.

The price omg
Looks like my Vostok.
watch is very good looking, price is absurd.
Sad that Bremont have ruined themselves due to the aggressive rebrand. Don’t know who they hired but it yells self sabotage
I love my Argonaut
its funny how bremont thinks they can charge rolex prices when they have no heritage. i could almost buy into that fake story of how they came to be if they were priced more reasonably.

South.
The finishing looks horrible
Why do you want the bracelet to be flexible on the opposite side? Are you planning to wear the watch upside down?🤣
Ps:The watch is very beautiful.
It's an ugly watch.
I watched this only because I like you. 😂
No it’s not working for me I’m afraid.
Nah, don’t like it at all really
That is one ugly, cheap looking watch. Terribly proportioned case and dial details. Ugly font. No seconds. No microadjusting clasp. Sellita movement. £3,000? No thanks.
This watch is so half arsed and ugly . Bremont have lost their way and no clue what people want .
i see no positives to that watch its ugly
Bremont is a very stupid brand. Nothing of them has hype or originality.
What's this watch? A cross between a Doxa and a Hamilton?
