Winry and Miles are basically the first two to break the cycle of hatred! They could've easily went down the same path as Scar with hate and vengeance consuming them, but they didn't let that happen. It was a nice contrast to see, and I love how we can see their actions and words affecting Scar and it's making him reflect on everything as a result.

I think the implication with Jerso and Zompano wanting their true bodies is that the human forms they have don't look like their original identities.

Might also be something about Japanese belief about body and soul. Don’t really know how much of that is actually put in the story, but there *is* a lot of “what is a human”. So not being in their original bodies would just seem horrible no matter what.

the earrings winry gave to ed is something very special, in my opinion. in an ova, ed bought the earrings for her when he was injured in a battle, so they kind of represent a connection between them. it also represents the promise that she will meet him again in the future.

I don't disagree, but it really feels like a Chekov's Gun that was loaded, chambered, and just... never fired. It's weird.

The chimeras, I assume, even in human form don't reassemble their original bodies. Back when we met greed, dog man couldve been tall at frist but got combined with a short dog. Armstrong didn't recognize cow man, even in his human form but Armstrong probably/maybe would remember another body builder from the war.

I'm not sure if Winry "forgives" Scar here. She foregoes revenge because that's not who she wants to become, but I think she still wants him to accept punishment at some point, at least when she proposes her hostage plan.

In the Christian sense, she has. She's just moving past her anger and hatred but doesn't condone anything he did, nor will she just forget it happened. It is still a wrong he committed and she's not going to just ignore that.

FMAB is well known for having great openings, and OP1, OP4 and OP5 are always highly ranked in lists of anime openings.
To me, OP4 goes on the third position, I prefer the first and the last one, but I have to admit the hook that is the beginning of OP4 with that epic guitar riff is unbelieable, and the part of Pride fighting Ed and Al is hype as hell.

Winry just said she didn't forgive Scar, it's a complicated thing, she's choosing to follow what she believes her parents would have wanted, but she isn't forgiving his actions

The great point of this plot is, Winry didn`t forgive Scar, she just put aside her hatred and try to contribute a greater good. That`s exactly how Scar`s master tell him to do- the only way and the only legit reason to halt a revenge. Just do something worth significantly better, denial those you hate by being better than them. Undone the harm they had inflicted.
This is not forgiveness, for their crime and damage is unrecoverable, that cannot be undone, which is unforgiveable. When there is a proper chance, justice must be done. Not now, but eventually come to everyone.

In fact, I often see people compare Miles to Suzaku in Code Geass, arguing that their goal of "joining the army of the perpetrators of their race and trying to change them from within" is equally meaningless. (Considering that Suzaku barely made any effective changes during Emperor Charles' reign)
But in fact, Miles' situation is obviously different from Suzaku's. Not only does he have a more enlightened and influential boss, but also because the country he lives in does not rely on exploiting his people to gain profits - in contrast, Japan in Code Geass has the richest room-temperature superconducting material deposits in the world, but has no power to protect its independence. The Ishval people have a more resilient culture and solidarity, while Japan... My friend once discussed the international situation setting of Code Geass. What real cohesion can we expect from a vassal who has rashly separated from the Chinese Federation?
In addition, in the radio drama, the real reason why Suzaku killed his father was also explained - his father seemed to be the leader of the Japanese resistance, but in fact he was secretly trying to negotiate peace with the Britannian Empire. The token of his allegiance that he was prepared to offer Lelouch's sister, Nunnally, as a candidate for a political marriage.

it's been well over a decade since I've seen CG but I distinctly remember hating Suzaku's guts. Not sure if I even remember why, and maybe my younger self was less wise, but man. I find it hard to believe he's anywhere near as great as Miles.

    • @Star_Ark_Ayrania

@@CastSenpai Let`s say they put toooooo much necessary explanation and character building into the radio drama. And if you only watch the anime, you won`t know any of that.
And yes, Suzaku is nowhere near to Miles. But you can`t expect those brainless miserable creature who basically had their brain fried by Gensimp Impart and short fast consumable media could had any capacity to think and differentiate.
They see the line “Join my enemy and change them from their inside” and those fried brain instantly reflects and jump to the conclusion:OMG they are exactly same and futile!
