    Check valves you use are called Spring checks, it takes about seven feet of head to push past the spring. They will not let water, or diesel out unless it has around seven feet of head. What you need to do is to weld a steel U Bend and install a swing check. Also those spring checks have a steel spring in it which will Rust Out in about 5 years. The swing checks have no spring and they're all brass they last 10 times longer. The spring checks when they fail will not only allow water in it'll also allow insects in animals in. If you install a u-bend I recommend filling those with non-toxic antifreeze, or mineral oil they will act like a trap and if the swing check fails you will have a liquid trap to prevent animals and insects from getting in.

    Ron, after watching all your videos, especially seeing the manufacturing process, I have a few thoughts/suggestions:
    You are using sand-blasting to prepare the metal surfaces for painting. Have you considered changing to a metallic bead blasting system? The company that I worked for had used sand blasting for several years until studies showed the health hazards on silicon dust. We converted to metallic bead blasting, where the blasting debris was collected and sent through a magnetic recovery system. The metallic beads were then available for reuse and the rust went to collection barrels. No health hazards after that. (Yeh it was sort of a OSHA get off our back response).
    As far as painting, have you considered an electrostatic paint process? That places an electrical charge on the metal and the plastic based paint is attracted to the surface in a very controlled layer. After that, the metal is heated to melt the plastic based paint. Another item to get OSHA off our backs as standard painting processes are atmospheric contaminants and hazard to the painters.
    I saw in your videos that you are using fork-lifts for moving the sub-assemblies and loading the final units on the trucks. Have you considered remodeling your facility to add overhead cranes? A bit safer than fork-lifts.
    One last matter, you tout the NBC filtration system available in your bomb shelters. From your descriptions, these are only carbon filters. They will only filter particulate matter (no description on your videos on the micro filtration size). They will not filter out fission gases that will later decay to particulate nuclides. Also, since the filter is inside the shelter, any fission particulate nuclides will continue to emit radiation inside the shelter. The filter needs to be placed in shielded location. I speak from experience from my 20 year career in the Navy as a Nuclear Engineer on submarines.

      Sceond'd. Some of these shelters look more comfortable than some houses I've seen for sale. Growing up watching too many cartoons where the villain (or hero) has an underground hideout made me want to live underground instead of on the surface long before I found out about bomb shelters. This just cements my desire to have one.
      Sadly I have like, no credit score, no personal property in terms of land for putting one in, and a "meh" paying job. I'd get one if it was realistic funds-wise for me to afford one. But it's not.

    I've had that Onan QuietDiesel model on a fefw diesel RV's over the years and they are bulletproof as long as you change the oil regularly heck even if you aren't regular they still are tough! as well as very quiet for a generator! They are usually mounted in the very front of a diesel pusher motorcoach and that is the actual front that is facing you in the bunker room. Best you can get!

    Wouldn't it be worth making a custom tank that could fit the shape of the bunker so you can store much more fuel? It does seem like there's a lot of wasted space there plus with more fuel you've got longer operation of the bunker.

    • @tc1uscg65
      @tc1uscg65 4 года назад +9

      @Sarah America Water bladders will form fit but remember, if you put one in, the water has to be drained, bladder cleaned ever so many years. Even with the reverse osmosis system, water stored too long is going to turn nasty. Would be more expensive but installing a large bladder or tank (form fitted of course) with the ability to FLUSH the water out, then refill it from an outside source (like RV's), that would be a plus. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to add that during installation.

      The more areas you add the more weak spots possibly?

    • @TheTyrial86
      @TheTyrial86 4 года назад +5

      Because it is cheaper to do it this way. They also want to be able to make a system that can use different types of generators, IE propane generators.
      Diesel tanks have their own problems also. The fuel stores water from the atmosphere and causes microbes to grow in the tank. A smaller tank like this can be fixed and monitored for repair/ upkeep. With a setup like this you can repair your own things and have the room to do so.

    • @TheNathanEverest
      @TheNathanEverest 4 года назад +4

      TheTyrial86 not propane that is dangerous diesel is best because it doesn’t ignite as easy if a problem should occur .... also also as for the original comment here you want to walk a fine line with weight distribution with the size of the tank for fuel god forbid a leak should occur you wouldn’t want to be down there with thousands of litres of fuel seeping into the rest of the bunker

    • @BSFilms1997

  • @drmosfet

    You could make your fuel last little longer by adding a heat exchanger to exhaust pipe of the generator for hot water, and wait till the generator running before taking a shower or even heating the shelter. Plus removing heat from exhaust reduces thermal signature.

    Great video. I really don't think people really realize all the thought that goes into every little detail and sourcing the right components to build some thing properly.
    That blast valve when you were explaining that it's 30psi rated, and I often wonder if people understand the kind of power that's in 30psi because we see that kind of pressure daily and think nothing of it. To put it into perspective, an EF-5 tornado with a 300mph wind, has a psi rating of around 2.8psi over pressure or about ONE TENTH of what that blast valve it rated for.
    Still though, 2.8psi equals almost 400 pounds of force per square foot being pushed against a home and on an 8 foot by 40 foot wall, that's over 129,000 pounds of force being applied against the wall of a home and you see what happens to homes when that type of force is applied to them....now think nuclear over pressure, and do you really want a bunker with a hatch lid that looks more like a trampoline you can bounce on, that we've seen made by other companies?
    I mean if a bomb goes off with a 20psi over pressure and you have a hatch that's 24 inches by 36 inches, that's 17,280 pounds of force that's going to be applied to that bunkers hatch and if you can bounce on it now with a 200 pound man, imagine when REAL force is applied to it. If your hatch can not survive that type of over pressure, you certainly can not survive that type of event.
    The numbers do not lie, and while some may call math racist these days, in this case the numbers should be called DEADLY.
    People need to appreciate and understand the need for doing things right and the cost involved. Keep up the great work.

    Good job Ron. You've really improved the product over time. I see you've received your 100k subscriber plaque, congrats! On the air system, you have an excellent top of the line system. Have you given any thought to installing a simple HVAC filer box for regular use? The hose already has a split connection for the NBC filer. Take a standard filter box with end connections to connect the hoses. This would be good for filtering out small bugs, dust and pollen. It would also probably all you need to filter out volcanic dust in event of a super caldera eruption. It could be easily removable if the NBC filter becomes necessary. Just a thought!

    Shouldn't the Generator Room be an off-shoot of the Main Housing? The way I'm seeing this is if someone did break in they could take out the Generator and leave you to die. I know the Air System has a manual crank, but what about lighting? or a hot meal? I know it sounds silly but people could be demoralized quickly or go insane, in darkness and a hot meal always makes you feel better.

      omegasignas I would go a step further with the check valves. I'm a plumber and anything mechanical can fail, witch means ground water from rain can enter in a flooding situation. They can fail because check valves stay open in the vertical position and may not seal back from being open for so long. I would run it to the storage area below with the check valve in the bunker, and have a holding tank that can be emptied or pumped out, so they can be maintained and replaced if needed.

    How long can run the andair and shelter off that battery?

    • @lastfeatheroffreedom9665
      @lastfeatheroffreedom9665 4 года назад +1

      If I remember correctly the andair can run something like 18 months maybe longer until filter needs to be changed , the unit is used by 50 or more military's including the U.S and will last a lifetime if maintained and kept properly I would think.

    I am interested in how the plumbing works in one of these. How water gets in and waste gets out?

    • @knightnight6752
      @knightnight6752 4 года назад +2

      Daniel Milewski I'm a plumber so maybe I can help. There are multiple ways to do it. How I would do it is if in an area where you are able to drill a well I would have well water plumbed to the shelter. One of the reasons he shows so many plugs on the ends. You can also have a water storage tank and a pump system attached to it to pump water to the fixtures. And of course if you have municipal water you can plumb it with that, but that would be the least optimal in my opinion as you are preparing to be self reliant in case of a fallout with his shelters.
      As far as the waste you would usually have a septic system in a bug out area and since the shelter is pretty deep you would most likely have to have a grinder pump system set up to pump the waste to the septic/sewer. Pretty sure in some of his videos he talks about having a pump system set up in the flooring storage.

    Was wondering what the estimated run time of that big battery you had in this shelter and the air system? Not including any lights or other power draws, just wondering how much power is needed to keep the air system running.

    My thought on this generator room, seems to me with the gen running, (air cooled no doubt), it going to get very warm in there, how warm I'm not sure, but maybe warm enough to make that gen run hot. Am I off base here? The air intake for it seemed small and if it does not have any kind of blower forcing air in, well,. I sure would want a carbon monoxide detector in there with it.

    just curious Ron, How do you fill the fuel tank? Do you have to hump cans down the stairs or can a remote pipe be piped to the surface to fill the tank. How long will the tank of fuel you had in that bunker last and do you ever have customers add external fuel storage tanks underground piped back to the bumker for long term undergroung?

      I suspect that air quality is compromised by even so much as a George Foreman Grill.

    I've been watching this for a while now and one question has been hanging in the back of my head. What about a decontamination shower? I mean you can probably last perhaps one to two months in one of these bunkers but you have to go outside to get supplies like food, diesel and eventually new carbon filters.

    • @zeash482
      @zeash482 4 года назад +1

      @VACCINATE YOUR KIDS ALREADY! that is certainly one way to deal with the problem. Additionaly installing a simple shower in a dedicated area to wash of chemical and biological threats from your clothes shouldn't really be hard to do yourself and for longer-term solutions one can always add an additional sealed water tank to the bunker during construction for said shower as it does not need to be drinkable water just protected from external contaminants

    • @breezymc3216
      @breezymc3216 4 года назад +2

      Their is a decontamination shower in all of his models.

    How will the diesel fuel tank be filled initially, or refilled, and what of leak/spillage containment (inc. to check on what local regulations say about below-ground tanks) [13:25 showed a drain port under the pod, I wonder how EPA compliant that is]
