      Diets don't usually work like that. Sugar is unavoidable. There's nothing wrong with enjoying sugar. Asian people use a lot of sugar in savoury meals. Its delicious. What needs to be avoided is snacking, overeating, being addicted to soft drinks and not exercising. Not enjoying food is a terrible solution. What people need is to not be obsessed with food and have a healthy enjoyment of food.

    Exercise is simple. Walk. Use what you have around you. I have a set of steps at the back of my house. Great form of exercise. Use free resources such as RUclips. Do the absolute beginner classes. Don't try to be a hero and do the harder stuff. That's setting yourself up for failure.

      @@kinarrakid5036 Yeah, look at me. I've exercised so much, it feels pointless now. I have no good support networks in place for a balanced diet, my family doesn't support me, and I wouldn't know where to begin, so more often than not I just grab the first available thing.

    Blame the fashion industry in part as well as the "fat acceptance" people. It used to be that overweight and obese people had trouble finding clothes to fit them. Women had to shop in Lane Bryant. Being fat was not considered attractive because it ISN'T. But then the clothing people said, wait, we can make a fortune off fat people by convincing them that they, too, can wear a tank top and shots. Presto! Enter "Women's" sizes X+....Women's sizes? This is how they blur the boundaries...they call non-fat clothing, Misses. Target has more clothes for X+ sizes than for normal sizes (normal being size 6 - 14, give or take). Political Correctness police demand we not say anything critical about a woman who weighs 300 lbs. waddling around in a tank top and tights. Seriously? Just because they make it in that size doesn't mean you should wear it.

      Agree about the "fat acceptance." Nothing wrong with being slightly plump (which is a whole lot healthier than having anorexia), but obese people are a nuisance to themselves and everyone else, especially the taxpayer who has to fund their inevitable medical needs.

    Just move around whole day, do chores around the house, you’ll burn calories. Else you should go to the gym and exercise there. Shop your own groceries and prepare wholesome meals. Eat healthy eg. fresh fruits and vegs, no sugary drink, and less fried stuff. Everything in moderation is the key.

    Honestly, once you get the hang of preparing your own food, nothing you buy away from home tastes anything like as good. And at the moment, we have the most SUPERB fresh fruit available. Great story.

      It's about how MUCH people eat. You could remove all Fructose Corn Syrup and a person could be eating sugar free food, and if they are shoveling something into their faces all day long, it won't matter. The concept of "snacking" is part of the problem PROMOTED by the food industry. Why do people think they need to snack constantly? Overeating is the problem and eating processed food high in sugar, fat, white flour.

      @Rick Vis Yes, I know HFCS is bad and I never eat food that contains it. HFCS is found heavily in processed bakery stuff, cookies, cakes, snack foods, the food you see stacked up in the shopping carts of the fattest people.

    The problem is that basically nobody understands why we get fat, and the people that do are not allowed to speak very loudly because our food corporations, government, medical establishment and weight loss industry profit from the fact that people are obese and sick.
    The food companies don't want to solve the problem because that would cost them profits in food sales. Same goes with the fast food industry.
    The medical industry doesn't want to solve the problem because that would cost them billions of dollars in patients' fees.
    The American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association, along with all the other health advocacy groups don't want to solve the problem because they would also lose money.
    The politicians and various government agencies don't want to solve the problem because of the lobbying money they get from these groups.
    The only way there is to fix this problem is to worry about yourself, question all the advice these official groups give you and try to learn where all the lies are coming from.
    Let me warn you right now that it will be a lonely process. Basically nobody, including your family and friends will listen to a word you say. They will blindly keep listening to their doctors, the media, and the advocacy groups who are either lying through their teeth for profits, or in the case of you doctor, don't realize they have been lied to.
    The obesity crisis is never going away. There is too much money at stake for these groups to care about your health.

      I somewhat agree, by experience.
      Of course - your claim was slightly extreme; but not altogether absurd. I know by experience that you can exercise VIGOROUSLY all you want. But if you are eating everything that's not nailed down, the best you might expect is to maintain your weight.

      For example - if an an overweight man were to jog for 2 hours, he'd burn about 1,000 calories. If he decided to "reward" himself afterwards with even a relatively modest meal at McDonalds - an extra meal he would not have otherwise eaten that day - his workout would EASILY be undone (and then some). Also - who has time to jog 2 hours each-and-every day?

    Close the gyms and keep McDonald's open. Keep soda and chocolate at the check out whilst vitami D at the back on the bottom shelf. Gov could do a lot of things to stop total hospitalisations from covid. What they are doing is activily making it worse by raising anxiety and obesity.

    Obesity's a chronic issue, and it's a big deal here in Australia. It's easy for people to say, "Just cut out the sugary stuff and eat better, exercise more." But trust me, it's not that simple, especially when you've been hooked on sugar for years. Luckily, I've got people around me who keep pushing me to get healthier.
    After losing my cousins to cardiovascular disease because of their weight, I knew I had to change. I've got two kids, and I want to be around to see them grow up. Over the last two years, I've managed to drop 20 kilos and I'm now at 89 kilos. A big part of my weight loss success has been the supplements I've been taking: Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Collagen Peptides, MCTs, Probiotics, and especially Tongkat Ali. They've been a game-changer for me, and I'm never going back to my old ways.

      Islamisthecultofsin I’ve seen his lectures before, I live in Australia not America. We don’t use high fructose corn syrup to the same degree. Culturally we don’t have sofa refills and offer free water etc. Besides all people have to do is not eat shit foods, it’s really not difficult people just keep making excuses.

But because it feels great and is addictive, much like sugar, people continue to use it and destroy their lives with it. That's why it has to be outlawed. I don't blame addiction on its victims. I blame the product, the people who peddle it, and the people who allow it to be sold knowing full well the damage it'll do.

    Intermittent fasting. Eating for a small window of time each day and fasting entirely for the rest of the 24 hour period. Dr. Jason Fung has wonderful videos explaining the science of how intermittent fasting lowers insulin so that the body can finally get into a state of fat burning.

      very bad idea. people need a long term solution, and that's not something you can do over a longer period of time because it's unhealthy. people need to change their diet and lifestyle. eating just once a day is unhealthy.

      @@petrairene , you can intermittent fast daily for the remainder of one's life. It is a wonderful way to control insulin which is the fat storing hormone. Having an eating window that is small is key to keeping insulin down. If insulin is down, the body goes into a state of being able to burn fat.

      @@christinah.8504 complete nonsense. Insulin is a sugar transporter. If you want to avoid insulin highs the only thing you need to do is avoiding to eat large quantities of easily digestable caro hydrates.
      Plus, you want to keep it at a low, steady level, therefor you need to eat smaller portions of this low carbohydrate foods spread out over the day.
      Eating only once per day does nothing for you if you have insulin related troubles. On the contrary, if you only eat one meal per day you have to cram enough energy into it so you get enough (about 1500 to 2000) calories per day for the not so physically active person and that you can't do if you base your diet mainly on vegetables, as is most healthy for your body.
      If you put all your needed calories into one meal, you have to choose stuff that is high in fat, carbohydrates and protein. And that is NOT healthy. Plus, it's not healthy for your digestive tract if you overfill it once a day and then leave it empty.
      There is a reason that Ramadan is a religious sacrifice and children, the sick and the hard working don't need to participate.

      @@christinah.8504 I have a colon disease, I have heard or read just about anything people are suggesting in terms of food. I eat accoring to traditional Chinese medicine classification of foods for my body constitution plus I don't eat foods that have pro inflammatory properties according to western medicine.
      That works very well and stopping bread and noodles is excellent if you want to cut calories, and counter a snacking habit too.
      For my colitis, intermittant fasting would be REALLY bad.

    I've got nothing against excercise but you don't need it to lose weight. You just have to stop eating junk and the fat falls off. I don't understand why no one has said a single word about the best food a person can eat, meat. It's got everything in it that a body needs without the stuff that'll make you fat. Sugar. That's the stuff that's making people fat. Carbohydrades.

    So they say healthy food isn't expensive? Are you kidding me? Have they been grocery shopping lately? Where on earth does the lady who said it live? Junk food is much cheaper! I still buy healthy food, just means our weekly food bill averages $400. (We are a big family).

      The best way to save money is to not do all your shopping at one supermarket. To shop around and find a good green grocer. Sadly that's not an option for everyone.

    Thank you! We have some really large members at our church. I used to feel guilty less often but since turning to Christ and church groups I have started to feel guilty more often. When driving away from Jesus I feel more confident but when returning to church, the guilt comes back. At church we bring it up sometimes and our group agreed that part of faith is to celebrate our guilt, because it keeps us clean and beneath Him. Encouraging guilt is be part of our Christian culture that we inherited. I would not be ashamed of guilt as it is part of being a good Christian, and those that are not guilty might not be forgiven and thus might not reach heaven. I myself often have guilty feelings of not enough faith in God but I use this guilt to ask for forgiveness so I can be saved. I don’t think we should try to overcome our guilt but recognise it as part of being a Christian, even if it is difficult to live with. Even if we feel worse with this guilt, it I better to have it and know that we are true Christians. It brings us down, but it brings us together. Together, and down. Only then we can be saved. Being fat, well I’m bot fat to myself but if you choose to identify 558 pounds as fat, then that is your choice, but being like this does make me feel guilt but from my faith I think guilt is not an unholy feeling even if it means pain. It is like turning your cheek when struck as we are taught and deeply a part of our faith of tolerance our sadness and sickliness - including being large. Faith also why I love America 🇺🇸 and we are unique here, and an exception in the world that can spread faith to others to help them to tolerate guilt of sin, guilt of leaning away, and guilt of being large.

      I disagree. Jesus once said to me in a very strong way regarding something - ‘don’t be ashamed - just be obedient’
      Guilt is in our life sometimes but it’s our own mind reminding us that there is a better life.
      Jesus has come that you have life to the fullest (John 10:10)
      We are told to look after our bodies - but that ‘rule’ is to bring the best life. We don’t have to be ashamed just obedient.
      Being healthy and getting healthy should not be a guilt and a burden but rather enjoyment. - enjoy the divine God made food ie vegetables - not the artificial addiction food that people created to make money (white sugar white flour soda deep fried etc)
      healthy food is actually very enjoyable and after a while it will become even more tasty to you.
      I am Whole Food Plant Based. So I eat vegetables beans and legumes as the main part of my diet. I would be classed by people as skinny. I have never enjoyed cooking and eating more in my life. And I praise God for the amazing properties this food has to heal our bodies. (vegetables can prevent cancer, heart disease, diabetes and more!)

      So you alt-right peacocks just wanna deny that the wrong diet, a meal that is not balanced and healthy (I'm not even talking fast food, mind you - basic items in your home), can't also have a factor? LOL.
      I understand what you say about willpower, but at the same time, better education can HELP. People need to be educated on what the proper diet is and follow it. Exercise as well as the proper, nutritional diet, and these days people just grab what is available or nearby. That's what I REALLY want to know. I don't think it's just laziness. There is some of that, and I respect the "personal choices" argument on its libertarian basis when applicable, but come on. While we have far more autonomy than we want to admit, at the same time, our environment molds us, controls us, shapes us, far more than we'd like to admit. Such as the system we've built. If you're gonna take one side over another, shows you're as much a fanatic as you claim to hate in the other side.
      As an Independent liberal, I blame both. Lack of sound choices and good support networks and education.

    Speaking from my experience
    Losing weight is not easy
    But it's possible if we work
    Harder. Stop eating fatty food and junk... Various reasons are linked to a sedentary lifestyle in overweight persons: physical limitations due to weight, associated diseases like diabetes and hypertension, tiredness due to sleep apnea, poor access to appropriate weight loss methods

    There's a lot of delicious, healthy and convenient foods now. I've gotten 40kg off and I'm pretty much normal now because of it. The issue is the price, I can only afford this because I worked really hard and got myself a salary that puts me in the top 10-20% of earners in my country.
    The problem is the price of a good house with a good kitchen. Even as a relatively bougie young professional, it feels like the price of housing is growing much faster than I could possibly save for it.
    These boomers stole our future lol.

    The bmi measurement is not fit for purpose,I can run 12 miles under 2 hrs comfortably,excercise consistently,I am thin .maybe 30/32 waist ,but a couple of points and I would be classed as overweight

    Some great comments here. Also, look hard in the mirror and what do you see? Do you like what you? Not superficially but I mean deep inside. If you know you are overweight and unhealthy, own it snd do something about it. Start small and aim to lose 1-2lbs Max a week then keep at it.

    It is possible to live on takeaway food that is healthy if you don't mind spending the money. I frequently get egg white veggie omelettes from my local diner.

      It is possible, but you have to know and trust the diner. Some diners add pancake batter and other stuff to their omelettes, not to mention what unhealthy oils might be used for cooking it.
      For me, when on the go a boiled egg still in its shell is the way to go. If I can't find/ bring something healthy. I don't eat at all. Fasting is also healthy and normal.

    This program is an insult to ones intelligence- what's the problem with facts, and information? you're going to hurt someone' s feelings? Why not provide some people with a high school education with some facts they can take to the supermarket with them, to make better choices? People are a lot smarter than this program supposes. All of this "boundary respect" is sickening. Teach them something.

    Or we can try loosing weight the old fashion way: Most of the people that have very high metabolisms , I've noticed are very poor. Maybe if we just help them with what they need help with , their metabolism might rub off on to us. Do they need a house, food, house repairs or just serious prayer? I don't know, I'm still trying to figure out why some people eat all the sugar and fat they want and still stay thin. Sorry , we're supposed to help people with what they need anyway. What do I know. 🤔😉
