Thayer is a fine guitarist (let's face it, you don't get the KISS gig unless you're a top player) but I agree, Bruce was, to me, the best of the four. He was the most versatile, keeping Ace's integrity in the riffs, being able to shred, play acoustic, etc.
Bruce became his own in kiss and brought the non-makeup days up to par with the makeup days. Bruce not wanting to wear the ace makeup is understandably right given the work Bruce put in the non-makeup albums. Great guitarist. Kiss really never put out a album after Revenge. That was the last time it musical made sense. Kiss went back to the makeup and that was that
John Penniston Bruce is one of the best guitarist Kiss had. Ace is awesome but so is Bruce. The 80s Kiss peaked with some of there best music and Bruce was part of that.
Bruce guitar sound became that for Kiss in the 80's and half of the 90's. Tommy Thayer is prolonging the old makeup days. He cannot fully bring back the Ace style. Gene and Paul will be better off letting Tommy be himself.
Bruce Kulick Rocks!!!!!!!!
