Just this small but extremely valuable tutorial will help so many understand how to break up light with color temp and controlled shadows. There is so much to learn from this video it's astounding.
My principal interest is education, but I started doing a little video work in the last couple of years, and I must mention that this is a fantastic example of how much can be clearly explained and demonstrated in twenty-six minutes without rushing. - Dave
This is gold, thank you so much for sharing all this for free! Amazing tutorial! This channel along with the Wandering DP are currently my two favourite film making youtube channels.
Wow. The best lighting tutorial I have ever seen. That bathroom looked so boring in the beginning, yet you made it look really good at the end! Camera move was really smooth too
Wow, this is an excellent demonstration of how topics like this should be taught. Felt like I was there and no detail was left out. Kudos. Truly makes your entire course well worth the price.
This is amazing stuff! I love the way you made highlights and shadows for that 100 million dollar cinema look. The actress acting and the sound makes it all come together like magic!
I don’t know if I should add some suggestions. The tutorial is top notch and some points , which are not even mentioned in other channels, have been covered very well. However , two things I want to suggest , one is not to use tapes on walls . Premium sets might get damaged if tapes are applied like that directly. The second point is bit of aesthetic . Rather than fighting with the blue incoming light from bedroom, imo it would have looked better if the color temp on camera stayed the same and the key + hair light dialled warmer . That would have created an organic complimentary tone . Although it’s just my personal opinion. Overall a fantastic tutorial . Thank you .
iv been in a set before and I couldn't catch all of the informations just watching the action but thanks to this vidéo that went from a boring set with no cool deco and light to a cinematic and deep look, thank you Mr and the team for this vidéo and keep it up
I had no idea so much work was necessary to recreate such a simple natural daylight in a bedroom/bathroom. This is going to make me appreciate interior scenes a whole lot more now that I know how many things have to be involved on the lighting alone!
One of the BEST small space lighting tutorials I have ever seen, very valuable information. This video definitely helped me out in different ways, thank you sir. 👍👏👏👏
Awesome tutorial & interesting technique. I've seen an interview where Greg Frasier (cinematographer of Dune, Mandalorian etc.) mentions he prefers to use as much natural light & as little manipulated lighting. Which would totally go against this since you're taking away the 2 main sources of natural light. So I would actually be very curious how to achieve something similar, with that kind of technique. Not saying that either is right or wrong, since I think, as long as you get what you want to express, it can both be right. Again, awesome video! Thanks so much for taking the time & instructing us.
This was a really nice breakdown! I wish you had shown the graded and cropped before lighting so it was a bit more of an apples to apples comparison. The controlled scene appears maybe a tad too dark, but I'm also wondering if that is partially because the before is overexposed?
First of all please allow me a moment to thankyou. This was one of the most beautiful video I have ever seen. Thankyou so much for teaching us like this. I have always wanted to learn but due to financial crunch I couldn't do it but now I think God has sent someone for me.
Really impressed by the softness of that ledgo tube you used as your key, I would usually have to put some kind of bounce to fill out the under eyes when doing that kind of toppy light but it looked great
Awesome breakdown on the lighting from the top end. back in that little corner of the bathroom and the outside the window light. i added so much depths to the scene. using the original lights that was above the over head and the sky light outside the room killed the image in every way lol (sn. did one of your cameras slide off the quick release plate? lol)
This is so informative. It feels like I'm being taught properly at the set itself. Please please make more such in-depth tutorials
Thank you - I produced several courses to teach you the entire filmmaking process. You can check them out at www.FilmSkills.com
It's amazing how much time and work can go into filming a 10 sec scene, but the difference is incredible.
Just this small but extremely valuable tutorial will help so many understand how to break up light with color temp and controlled shadows. There is so much to learn from this video it's astounding.
Thanks so much. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

This is absolutely golden. My apartment and nearly every apt in NYC also has that light paint walls and it's all over the place
Wow, this is an excellent demonstration of how topics like this should be taught. Felt like I was there and no detail was left out. Kudos. Truly makes your entire course well worth the price.

Oh, are you going to give personal suggestions to the guy who works on professional film sets? Lol
You are right but yeah he said himself it‘s just a matter of taste, depends what you are looking for
iv been in a set before and I couldn't catch all of the informations just watching the action but thanks to this vidéo that went from a boring set with no cool deco and light to a cinematic and deep look, thank you Mr and the team for this vidéo and keep it up

Such a beatiful shot!!!
Looked nice. The digital zoom in post helped you achieve the zoom in.
Really impressed by the softness of that ledgo tube you used as your key, I would usually have to put some kind of bounce to fill out the under eyes when doing that kind of toppy light but it looked great
Great idea, but you’d see it in the shot, which is why I didn’t add one :-)
