Yea, Trump is too old and he wanders off topic so often. I'm still pondering whether I'd prefer being electrocuted or eaten by sharks ,if the electric boat sinks. Tried bleach to cure my Covid19, that didn't work, Watch his rallies, I thought they were stand up comedy. Trump to be president, God help the USA, because the US will be going to hell in a handcart.

The corporate media never used to speak about Biden's obvious decline in mental acuity (in fact they went out of their way to cover it up) until the last few weeks, when it then became publicly acceptable to acknowledge it. I'm gonna vote for Harris or whoever takes Biden's spot, but there should be no question that Biden had, at best, a 5% chance of beating Trump if he stayed in.

We can blame the media for crafting that and the fact that your political system has a single person as president and separate from the elections that select your house and senate. The media in the USA does not tend to spend much time studying the presidents administration that in the end are their main advisers in key areas. In the Westminster system you have the two houses just like yours and the members of those houses are elected by the voters of the electorate they are representing and the party that can put together the majority of the electorates [seats] forms government. All the elected members of that government then vote for the leader they want as the head of government and they become the Prime Minister. the Prime Minister then sits down with the various factions and works out which members will become ministers of a specific portfolio of responsibility. There are no "unelected" people with the responsibility of a ministry portfolio in the Westminster system and the Prime Minister is not a separate being or body from the two houses of government, he is a part of it.

In my opinion this decision was a mistake because it was half-assed. Just like everything else he's done with regard to Ukraine, and other things. Don't get me wrong, Biden has done incredibly well, but this is a half-assed decision. He either should have stayed in control of both the presidency and the nomination, or he should have given both to Harris. Therefore giving the incumbency to Harris. The right decision would have been to step down from being president as well... But like always that requires true leadership, and what he is not is a true leader, he absolutely is a fantastic administrator, and that is absolutely what we needed after that jackass before him

look at it this way, american elections normally have an even number of democrats and republicans who vote along party lines and the 10 percent of independents determines who wins. this year is special in that donald trump is starting out with -20 percent of his republican base in the reagan republicans who will never vote for trump.
so if the democrats mobilize a high voter turn out, the independent vote wont really matter with trump starting out -20 percent of his republican base.

Technically there don't have to be primaries- the party (no matter what one) can convene it's delegates, and they choose the candidate without one vote being cast. I'm not sure how state laws have evolved to reflect this. But prior to the nomination, I doubt there would be any legal standing (their delegates by the way, not electors. you really have to look at it from a high voter turnout and energizing the young vote and base for democrats. in a normal election there is an even number of democrats and republicans cancelling each other out in a way so the 10 percent of independents determine who wins. but this election trump is starting out with -20 percent of the republican base in the reagan republicans who will never vote for trump.
so if democrats can mobilize and have a high voter turnout, they will win easily with trump starting out -20 in his base. the 10 percent independent vote wont really factor in as well.
i believe they can mobilize and vote for the first woman president of african american and south asian descent. the youth vote likely will come out and vote for that.
in the end though its a stop game to prevent trump from destroying america's democracy and in 4 years they can elect new young candidates and trump will be too old to run.

He literally had to bullied into doing the right thing. Equally, credit to him for actually doing it, but I fundamentally disagree that he has been treated badly. He had made himself an obstacle to defeating Trump.

the beauty is normally there is an even number of democrat and republican voters so they in a way cancel each other out and the 10 percent of the independents determines who wins. but this election trump is starting out -20 percent of his republican base in the reagan republicans who will never vote for trump. so if there is a high democratic voter turn out, it wont really matter how the independents vote with trump starting out -20 percent of his republican base.

I’ve been thinking hard since Biden’s announcement. I think it *was* for the best, b/c it cut the legs out from under the Trump campaign. They were very successfully painting Biden as a doddering old man. Now their only play has been turned against them. It’s Trump who is the doddering old man - also a racist, a fraud, a liar, and a wannabe Führer. #MakeAmericaLaughAgain #VoteBlue2SaveDemocracy

With Harris being endorsed we don't have any time to make a gamble with a no-name candidate because of the huge high-risk stakes. She has experience running the country with Biden. They have pleasantly surprised me in a good way, not everything, and some just at the bare minimum. Some progressive policies
took place. It's now Harris all the way and let's kick Trump's you know what.

Risky, indeed. I in no way oppose Harris as the candidate, but Biden's stepping aside this late in the election cycle hasn't struck me as a good idea since the idea was first floated, especially as those pushing it hadn't proposed a candidate. What has irritated me all along about the "step aside" crowd is that most of them seem to be people who have the resources to protect themselves in the event of a Trump victory and the implementation of Project 2025, leaving the rest of us to deal with it as best we can.
