Well read. I think you picked the key sections of the book that really set the stage for how dire things are for the human sphere. It just occurred to me that the abandoned/quarantined city would be a great area for a campaign/RP type game.
As a brand new player I would kill for videos that focus on key events in the lore. I really want to learn more but I can't justify the book prices just for lore at the moment unfortunately.
I'll be honest, I had an almost unbearable cringe when I read about assault on Concilium. All these *suddenly* new wormhole, *suddenly* large fleet, *suddenly* they are already planetside. And noone bats the eye. Like, nobody is watching the sky or something. It's not like we are at war with some space aliens and they had means to sneak past blocades before. And even after all these years on Paradiso nobody thinks about changing tactics. Like, I dunno, just nuke the damn beachead before they scatter, leave them with no cover and supplies. And anti-air. And troops. And tanks. It's just some barren island, not lush jungles that will grow again in weeks. But no, let's just march to the place and get stuck in another trench warfare! Oh, and *suddenly* there's even some crucial secret lab with *totally not T'Zechi Digester* nearby. Geez, if humanity is THAT dumb and unable to learn, I'd rather just praise our new machine overlords.
The in-fighting between superpowers doesn’t help the human race stay focused on the alien enemy and the EI is a great strategist. The bits we do see are sometimes distractions, a sleight of hand to move left when the Combined Army wants to move right. We’re only ever seeing probing attacks.
Absolutely love the lore, makes gm-ing the rpg so much easier. two suggestions if you do more of these (to help newer players): when referencing events that a product exist for (such as defiance) show a screenshot of said product as you talk about it; and when possible use the human sphere map and a pointer to show where an event is taking place.
Does anyone know the physical location of Spando Beta? Is it on the Western or Eastern front? What the terrain features are(ie the mountain range, coastal, tropical, etc)? I know the planet is O12 but are there specific factions in the city?
With the Durgama takeover campaign now finished it will be interesting how the story will change. After reading some comments here, I think Corvus Belli will scale back the alien menace. Infinity is a sci-fi covert ops game. Perhaps the aliens have pushed too hard and too fast and used up more resources and offer a so-called cease fire. This would keep the sci-fi spec ops narrative. Each faction fighting behind the scenes to reduce the alien menace and also allow for infighting amongst the humans. Even making shady deals with the aliens and having everyone fighting against everyone. Imagine PanO making secret negotiations with CA, and Yu Jing find out. This would still allow for skirmishes between everyone to keep track to the game while integrating the narrative. Or perhaps with Kosmoflot being a thing Corvus Belli are expanding into naval space battles with a new game and miniatures of shpace ships. Who knows. They have to keep their business going. I think with newer CodeOne releases, their business model is to slow down, add more to CodeOne, increase their player base and customer base, and continue the game into the future. Maybe a few more narrative campaigns to bring about a stalemate with CA to bring about the continued sci-fi spec ops game play. Just my opinion.
Code one has given them a much better entry point for new players now they just need to capitalise on that and drive growing the player base. The novels will help this to a degree by expanding the lore.
I really wonder where the story will go. I mean the EI can't win, because that would mean no more Infinity but having a ongoing stagnant siege is so ... 40k.
@@the_infinitygamer Human sphere - will be pushed to the BRINK and then pop ..... Tohaa open a portal and they start spilling through to help HS and fight EI !
I feel Defiance could have been a good excuse to have turned the tables. Instead they doubled down on the Combined Army being Super-duper powerful and always winning. If it was Humans pushing into EI space for a bit, that would have been an excellent way to introduce a lot of new things: justify space battles, or larger-scale battles, new CA units, etc. But if that's ever happening it's N5ish at the earliest since it seems CB's real-life limitations plus the weird mix of "things keep moving" yet "status quo is god" in the writing are basically forcing the game in only one narrative direction.
Might be on the cards, who knows. With MO, Starmada and Kosmoflot all being naval detachments CB might be setting us up for something along those lines?
@@robertsmall1456 I think that may be Remote Racing. It's a relatively cheap one to produce, will have more overlap with Infinity at the start than Aristeia did, Aristeia is basically completed as a game so CB's staff that were working on it and Defiance can move to another "beer and pretzels" style game, and we have the new REM Racer mercenary profiles. So basically just produce rules, sell new remotes, allow you to use Infinity remotes, use Rem Racer remotes in Infinity, and boom, existing playerbase still buys the new things, and it's still able to reach the same market of more casual gamers that may have been drawn in with Aristeia. A naval game could be mostly independent of Infinity and have more historic scenario approaches. Like the Neocolonial wars, the Paradiso Blockades, skirmishes over Dawn, Tohaa versus EI naval engagements elsewhere in the Galaxy, etc. But in terms of developing it, you need to give it support with entirely new minis with entirely new designs for virtually every single asset, as we've only seen about a dozen ships in the setting. You also have the problem that some factions within the game simply don't have larger spacefleets.
I hope infinity gets prices under control, people talk about 40k but $90 for 10 minis?? And they’re older and plastic hmmmmm Love the beginnings of the lord but they need dedicated writers and novels.
They have dedicated writers and novels now. Well, one novel (Downfall) with another coming. $90 for 10 minis isn’t bad is it? $90 for one is a bit much.
We need more of this, I really want infinity to increase in popularity
Same, its such a good game, and corvus belli acctually care about their game and players
I’ll put some more in the production pipeline 😃
Couldn’t agree more Valerian!!
It'll get ruined if it goes mainstream. Like warhammer
@@michaelstefanou7744 yeah i agree, onces things become mainstream its not as special

Great Vid as always... And I love this kind of update on the Infinity lore... Go on Man
Thank you so much Rob, means a lot to hear that!
@@the_infinitygamer are you planning a video on Military Orders? Lore or Profiles... Or something? I'm thrilled about!
Started writing notes this morning so hopefully 😂😂😂

Sneak peek - I love the sculpts 😜

Same! I’d be so keen to get my hands on any novels they release.
keep up the great stuff love your content
Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciate it 😄
Would love to have more lore videos to listen to while painting. Keep on.
