"It is what it is" !!!! What a splendid long log is was though. And Jade did do a super job lifting it up and spinning it round. We do not get trees that grow so tall and so straight in UK forests - at least, not that I have seen.
Imagine, once the UK had many forests yielding such trees. That's how the Royal Navy managed to rule the seas in the days of sail. When I lived in the UK, I got talking to someone who knew quite a bit about woodworking - he claimed that the skills of picking which trees are best logged for which parts of a sailing vessel are mostly extinct.
@@vk2ig Gosh Vk2ig, you really do turn the knife in to me !!!! My teenage childood (1960 to 1971) was in rural Kent where there were still many large (but short) oak trees. In my 20's and early 30's I used to buy English oak for my work building pipe organs using a lot of quarter sawn timber - often in small sizes. My mother's listed cottage was made from recovered ships timbers, the beams often showing perfect mortices from their previous use in ships. I now live in North Wales where people argue to protect the use of the mountains of Snowdonia for sheep grazing, but these hairy maggots eat every young sapling, and effectively prevent the natural re-forrestation of our mountain sides with hardwoods - which in time would be mainly oak. It was the natural oaks of this area that were used in many famous buildings such as Westmnster Hall. I look at the backdrop of deciduous forest in many pictures of these girls in their amazing timber yard, and I would love to know more about the history of these forests. Are they planted or are they naturally propogated? I refer to the mountain between Douherty run and Wolf run, that is often seen in the videos. As it is brown in winter shots so I guess it is mainly deciduous trees. Sadly, much of our remaining oak in UK is not felled for ttimber because saw mills say that they cannot risk hitting wire and staples inside the timber. It is cut for firewood or just allowed to rot. Burried fencing staples are a great bane, but horse shoes and axeheads are also commonly found. If only there was a cheap way to identify iron before being hit by a blade? Would a metal detector safely achieve this? - if mounted ahead of the blade looking into the top 2" of the log being sawn. John N
I wonder how many people realise how clever Jade maneuvered that long log onto the trailer. Physics at its peak! Skills that require lots of practice. Thumbs up if you think Jade was absolutely brilliant.
I started at 12 years old with my grandpa in South Georgia. On a Frick 00 circle saw. Hit a railroad spike once and slung a blade tooth into his shoulder. Hated cutting pine. Admire all yall, it's hard work.
Jade does a Great job with the loader, no matter how much it is jostling around she is steadfast and focused. Sorry the log didn't turn out two good beams but it was good to hear Emerald stating (the downside) that Lumber Capitol Log Yard is there to support the customers... we'll cut another one!!! Outstanding !!!!
Yer right, Jade handled that log like a pro. We had some internet problems here in Niagara Falls Ontario, or at least I did. After some phone calls and other sources, it might have been a bandwidth failure. I have no idea what that really is. So, 17 hours later I got to watch your show. If you would excuse me now, this youtube junkie has some catching up to do.
Emerald, your narration was awesome and very informative. Jade is and awesome equipment operator and sawyer and made it look so easy. Love watching you girls working so well together and complimenting each other for a job well done.
Great video highlighting key parts of an interesting process. Also great to see Emerald being so supportive while Jade the Mill Maiden went to war on that log lol.
Just an observation/suggestion Slide you a large hose over that sawdust exit on the mill. It’ll make the sawdust come out at a lower point and won’t blow back on the operator nearly as much.
Honestly when I watched Jade start moving the log I was wondering to whom she was mad at, I only bring this up because usually she is smooth as butter. Between your parents and all of the siblings I find this channel a joy because it is possible to feel the happiness you have towards each other, that being said I would recommend Emerald that you might just lay low this evening.
Love the vid Emerald. Great job by Jade loading the log onto the loader. Doesn't look like an easy task even though she made it look that way lol. Great job by Jade and Grandpa muscling that log around the LT15 and great job Emerald behind the camera. Thanks again fam for letting us into your workday.
Emerald... You have a knack for putting together very high quality videos... these are very well done.. Very interesting and entertaining.. I like your selection and choice for the background music... I look forward to seeing more of these... Good job...👍
Awesome 😎 commending your sister for job well done,,,Great video and job as per usual. Well off to church... thanks I would love the imperfect lumber,, I see no structural integrity Lost..but anywho Customers always right and all that...
I love how you teach about mill operations and milling, grading, moisture control and other factors involved with saw mills .your family great bringing the information to the public and you all are very talented, please keep us updated and informed and keep the videos coming 👍
Makes alot of sense to only do custom long cuts like that. What is your Grandfather's background? He sure seems to be handy and know a heck of a lot, is he a Sawyer or Feller?
Thanks. I’m Grandpa was Saw Filer. He worked till he was 72 years old. He tried retiring a card of times but was talked into working longer. His last job was in Plaquemine La. I even went with him to work 1time. The day was 10 hours long. I can still remember the sounds and smells of wood being cut.
Awesome. Thanks for familiarizing us with the non commercial, residential side of DYI milling. It was very informative and an inspiration to us non-self starters.
"Just shove that sucker under there". Now THAT'S pure Em ! Poor Jade. Spent all of that time cranking on that saw handle and has to do it all over again. I bet that right bicep was sore the next morning. 😭
Love your videos. I hate cutting over 16' on my old LT40. For what it's worth, when I stack and sticker lumber I try to make sure I put the bark side up in my drying stacks. Seems to keep it flatter IMO.
I love you all a lot not because y'all's videos because you all are good people great people and I like what you all do for a living cutting wood is a dangerous job I know it's what you do to keep the business going for you and the family
Impressive job with the loader Jade! Interesting seeing how your team make those beams. Any way into talking grandpa into an interview some day? I'm sure he is a wealth of information.
Good demo of the difficulty of sawing up oversize logs. Sawed some 12' 4"x6" beams for a cabin I built on the place. Several had wanes like in this video but I used them anyway since it didn't weaken the structural integrity and gave the exposed ceiling a bit of rustic character.
Thanks for showing Rare Smiling Queen! 🙂
You may never see another beauty queen working this hard ?
Jade has grown into a very smooth operator.GRATE JOB😊
Great job Jade.
Quite the operator! Safety first, always!

Thank you Em for saying what the buyer was going to use those for.
I wonder how many people realise how clever Jade maneuvered that long log onto the trailer. Physics at its peak! Skills that require lots of practice. Thumbs up if you think Jade was absolutely brilliant.

The doggo is enjoying life at the Lumber Capital Dog Yard ...
I was driving from Toronto to New Brunswick last week and drove past the Metavic factory where they make the log loader trailers.
Yer right, Jade handled that log like a pro.

Amazing, Jade did amazing job milling that long log
Great video highlighting key parts of an interesting process. Also great to see Emerald being so supportive while Jade the Mill Maiden went to war on that log lol.
Nice job on that loader !!!!!!
Hello to everyone always good to see everyone everyday and the smell fresh cut wood
Hand crank on the LT 15 keeps the operator busier! Wood Mizer demonstrated the LT 40 at Milford Pennsylvania Festival of Wood☆
Thanks for sharing!
Jade always cleans out the local Walmart's crane arcade games.
Jade is awesome.
Thanks!
Thank you so much. Boss Man.
I tell you what, you people work hard. Been really interesting for me to see what is involved with the process of getting timber from the trees.
It was good to see more of Jade. It seems like she's usually on the other side of the camera.
Just an observation/suggestion
Slide you a large hose over that sawdust exit on the mill. It’ll make the sawdust come out at a lower point and won’t blow back on the operator nearly as much.
There are just soul soothing videos after a grinding day at work. Thank you!
Are you a Dentist?
@@davidquinlan8517 Or a jeweller, optician, or flour miller?
Thanks for another great video Emerald👍. Jade is so serious, and super talented, Maybe that's why she runs the mills so good?
great job and video as always. Nice to see Grandpa too !
You gotta do what ya gotta do 😬👍💯🇺🇸 tale care and be safe and God bless amen.
Great video! Awesome grapple work Jade! Great mill work too! Standing ovation!! 👍👍👍. Looking forward to the next one! 👏👏👏👏

Between your parents and all of the siblings I find this channel a joy because it is possible to feel the happiness you have towards each other, that being said I would recommend Emerald that you might just lay low this evening.
I think Jade was so focused down on the difficult non-standard task that she dropped into a resting scowl face.... 😆
Love the vid Emerald. Great job by Jade loading the log onto the loader. Doesn't look like an easy task even though she made it look that way lol. Great job by Jade and Grandpa muscling that log around the LT15 and great job Emerald behind the camera. Thanks again fam for letting us into your workday.
you guys look so tall, wish i can get my kids to work like you, or even wash the dishes once in awhile.
You young ladies have some seriously impressive skills. Jade really did make moving that long log look easy.
It is simple work only.

I built a house using 2x10x20 Hemlock.
They were really glad when my order was done
Emerald looking so beautiful. Great Family👍
Keep doing what y'all do
I love how you teach about mill operations and milling, grading, moisture control and other factors involved with saw mills .your family great bringing the information to the public and you all are very talented, please keep us updated and informed and keep the videos coming 👍
I am a homeowner with my own portable sawmill. It looks great to have all the equipment you need to load the logs.
Great job as always
Another stellar performance by Roxy. Roxy started out with a few bit parts now he is pretty much co-starring.
What an unwieldy log! That beast fought Jade all through the process. The excess wane is a bummer. All in a day's work at the mill, I suppose!
It looked phenomenal...
I would be dead.
You folks are very inspiring to me.
Thank you...
Jade is not just another pretty face, brave & smart, what a gal! Great video Emerald thumbs up.
Should have a heel on that loader for long logs like that, they work wonders. I used to haul logs to saw mills
What a great family!
You have a good eye and constant improvement in your cinematography . Nice work!
Makes alot of sense to only do custom long cuts like that.

I think the dog is the new superstar here
"Just shove that sucker under there". Now THAT'S pure Em ! Poor Jade. Spent all of that time cranking on that saw handle and has to do it all over again. I bet that right bicep was sore the next morning. 😭
Or maybe that's why someone should never pick a fight with Jade - that right arm would smack them into the middle of next week. :)
Nice job Jade!!! On the mill and the loader... Workin at stuff like a pro...
You guys are so awesome 👌 I thought tag line might help 😀
You ladies do an awesome job milling them logs, I wish I had just a part of your skill with those mills, Great video!!
Jade rockin them camp britches!🤣🤣
Love your videos.

I grew up working in lumberyards, almost 40 years ago. If my co-workers had looked like this, I might still be working there!!!
Impressive job with the loader Jade! Interesting seeing how your team make those beams. Any way into talking grandpa into an interview some day? I'm sure he is a wealth of information.
