La Palma volcano: Drone video shows new land formed by lava that reached sea

- Опубликовано: 9 фев 2025
- Newly-released drone footage shows the scale of the "lava delta" from the Cumbre Vieja volcano eruption forming on La Palma island on Wednesday.
The new headland began forming since the volcano's lava reached the sea.
The La Palma council said that the volcano was stabilizing and that fewer earthquakes had been reported compared to previous days, but that the airport shut down due to increased volcanic ash build-up.
1:00 The volcano on La Palma has been blasting out jets of red-hot lava for more than two weeks, laying waste to hundreds of buildings and farms, and forcing the evacuation of thousands.

Drones have offered us a new way to witness the power of nature. Beautiful.
Yeah totally because there were not helecopters or anything before drones.
@VeckAlt Your head is currently unmanned.
@@poopyanalbumhole I never said drones were bad
I only said you could get the same views by other means before drones. .... Would you shut up man,?!?!
@VeckAlt... You can also put a camera in a helicopter that is piloted by a human and get the exact same footage..the reason they're using drones is just a financial issue.
Drones are cheap, as is the cost to train their controllers...helicopters and their trained pilots are not...
@@codymoe4986 -The point is that we have more footage than ever because of those drones. I don't beleive your comment has any points because it doesn't change this fact.

In other words volcanos are useful and shouldn’t be considered disasters as long as people don’t build homes close to a volcano. That’s asking for trouble!

Fertile land?
@@stuartgibson9749 volcanic soil is extremely fertile
@@spamzon8716 n regions near Mount Vesuvius, there are expansive tracts of fertile lands as a result of the volcanic activity thousands of years ago. The fertility of the soil in this region is attributed to the deposition of volcanic materials rich in minerals which are then broken down or weathered by erosion or action of water.

Volcanos are a physical and visual example of what hell must be like. The Bible describes the Lake of Fire where God will cast death and hell into at the final White Throne Judgment. Terrifying to say the least, absolute pain and destruction beyond comprehension for eternity... Fortunately, Jesus did not come to Earth to cast people into hell, He came to cast us in to Heaven. Ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of all of your sins if you haven't done so already, and He will give you Eternal Life in Heaven forever. No more pain,
no more tears, no more sickness, no more death. Don't miss your chance, do it right now~🙏👑🕊️
@@godsbeautifulflatearth Jezus came for everyone with òr without religion/ believe. We can learn something from that instead of dogmatic thinking and preaching, citating the bible won't bring you closer to Him, he seeks for the kindhearted and it doesn't matter if you are with or without religion/ believe. It's time to stop thinking and preaching like the way you do, instead of that listen to your own heart instead of the words you hear in your church, we are ALL in His heart and he know ALL of us and He loves ALL of us. No one is left out as you 'preach' here.
It's time churches and other 'holy' places loose their power and misuse of it to keep people under their thumb.
I wonder what our global warming fanatics think of the thousands of tons of CO2 being emitted 🤣
and Sulphur, some noobs have legislations against Sulphur
Fanatics? You mean scientists. I'm guessing you don't have any scientific training.
The US Geological Survey monitors volcanic emissions and (on average) every year around 200 million tons of CO2 and other dioxides are emitted through volcanic activity (globally).
By comparison, emissions from burning fossil fuels, and destruction of forested areas, cause around 2.5 billion tons of dioxides.
So... All the volcanoes erupting on earth contribute LESS THAN ONE PERCENT of dioxides - we humans contribute over 99 PERCENT.
These are facts, and are easily availble to those of us with more than one brain cell.
So... Mike (and all the other ignorant goons posting nonsense) - instead of watching Netflix all day long, consider spending 1% of your time looking up some facts.
Only upside of this is when they rebuild all the houses will have underfloor heating

When earth creates her its beautiful ...when she destruct her..its beautiful
The Earth creates NOTHING. It is only God who creates EVERYTHING.
@Csaba Zubor : There is one big flaw in your statement. God (The one True Living God Jehovah : Created all Things,, even Satan: Unfortunately. Satan created all other gods. Everyone blames God for everything Bad that happens on Earth, but the fact is, that God is not responsible for 99 percent of the bad things. SATAN IS Responsible, because Satan HATES God, and All men. Try looking for God's Love, and Stop hating him.
Guys ...we are humans...and we have to adjust according to earth...its better than any political crisis at least.....
@Csaba Zubor It is only your warped idea of what the truth is, that scares me for you. If you do not Love God: You hate him. There is No fence Straddling for God.
@Csaba Zubor : That is the one of the most wonderful things about being a Born Again Christian. I don't have to Prove ANYTHING to ANYONE. It is unfortunate that you scoff at the Only God who has ever said he Loves You.
Wow, thank you so much for all this info, been twice on La Isla Bonita La Palma for hiking vacations and stayed in Los Llanos de Aridane near the Caldera de Taburiente. The Island and people is in my heart. 👋😀
@@LindaEll89 muchas gracias, la verdad es que La Palma es un vergel ♥️. Y las demás Islas Canarias son muy cremas ☺️😍. Yo soy de Gran Canaria.

Those displaced should get the new land. In a couple years.
How does one build on razor sharp volcanic rock? How to install municipal water and electrical supplies in said rock? How do you build on it, and grow trees and grass?
@@mercoid Ask Hawaiian's they have been doing it for some time.
@S.C. Eptic Genius!! Build your house right in the path of a volcano. Meanwhile most of their shore is undeveloped.
Stay in school kids.
@@4fit816 …..unless you actually put millions of tons of soil on the area. Anything more significant than a few tiny weeds will not grow there. Tiny weeds begin to grow on the rock, they die and decompose leaving a minuscule sort of compost then, after years, slightly larger weeds and vegetation grows, continuing the cycle, until eventually…. After several hundred years.., there is a significant amount of soil to not be aware that you’re living on rock.

I checked with my estate agent and living on that newly formed lava peninsula is already out of my price range.
Apparently they've already opened a boutique bakery and built an entire block of affordable housing purely so they can knock it down tomorrow in order to build luxury apartments.

Lol this is what I'm expecting already, it going to be like that
Der Vulkan hört nicht mehr auf zu spucken und die Lava verteilt sich über die ganze Insel..
No, only on the southside, not to west- nord or eastside.
When will it stop?
When the magmatic chamber is empty or the gas pressure is no longer sufficient to push material out. May take days or weeks.
Wow! 😲
What's the music in the background
Who owns new land made by a volcano?
Nice, but it would be better if the color were accurate
Anyone have any idea how deep the water was under the new patch of land?
Not sure. I did hear that part of the new flow is upon an old lava shelf and part of the new could possibly fall off.
8 meters. It won't grow many more to the sea cos the deep will be bigger now, over 300 meters.

I hope to see an eruption and a new island forming in the English channel.
The border dispute would be quite exciting.
It must suck to have a 40ft high wall of lava swallow your house.🙁

Another site claims that 13100 tons per day and 66 cubic metres per second are emitted by this volcano. Since that works out as a cubic metre of lava weighing the same as a bag of potatoes we can understand why that site has comments turned off. So, does anyone here have realistic figures?
God knows our population is growing so he's making more land for us!

That looks so ominous. There is still a danger of that subduction zone on La Palma splitting off, and causing a Mega Tsunami wave, which would wipe out the entire East coast, and the Gulf coast of the USA. Many Prayers for the people of LA Palma.

And the new land didn't take billions of years to form

Will that new land mass, stop the potential fatal landslide?
New land - let's build some houses on it
Go to Lanzarote and you'll see the impact a volcano can have on the landscape. They had an eruption in the 1700s that was on and off for over 5 years. To this day much of the west & south end of the island is still under a blanket of volcanic crap 2m high. Even the roads to Play Blanca in the south had to cut through it or build on elevated sections. I assume the same will be true of this new land in La Palma except it's 5m in places. It'll be decades and multiple geological surveys before anything happens on that land, even simple roads.
Para wodna z podziemnego jeziora , woda morska
My thoughts are with the people of Palma their future is so uncertain and we all know governments are slow to act to help in such crisis.
Nobody has died in the three weeks since it first erupted, 6,000 people have been evacuated, they are giving out free masks and goggles to help protect against the ash, they are working on keeping clean water supply and electricity running. They are doing pretty well so far.

Probably Gonna be a couple decades
Guess Canada likes too much land. That's not land..
You know that means 🧐 lava could steam up the under core of the sea and could prevent tsunami from happening. Only if it reaches the very end of the button of the ocean. I hope there is no disaster. Just a guess 😅
Future housing .condos .lofts .for fish and other sea critters .
No. A big chunk of their shore is undeveloped. But you sound Short-Bus enough to build in the path of a volcano.
Stay in school kids.
How many animals are hurt did they die
Is that sea-bed the new lava is piling up on stable, as far as a possible underwater land slide is concerned.
Few people know for sure.
It will be virtually uninhabitable land for the next hundred years or so anyway.
The chance of a landslide large enough to cause a tsunami is extremely unlikely. I wouldn’t worry about it.
I lay a claim on that newly formed land. Just one acre at the stoney beach.
