I used to come across a nice fellow named Artie on a corner in Long Island off the Expressway. He was homeless, never begged or got in anyone's grill. Just stood on the corner and waited. WHILE he waited he kept the corner clean, picked up the trash, raked etc. I would give him money each time I saw him and we would chat briefly waiting for the light to change. On Christmas I brought him a card with 50 dollars in it. He was very grateful for the money because he said it would help him sleep INSIDE that night and it would be great to sleep and not be afraid. But what brought him to tears was his name on the card. The fact that someone still thought of him as a person with a name and worthy of it being used just got to him. It got to me too. I haven't seen Artie in a long time but I hope at least one more time, someone made him happy like that. When you have nothing, ANY thing seems like the world.

We shouldn't compare to others but to take it as a gratitude to push and live life and make actions and change to be better for yourself. Yea dude on September 26 2022 I crashed my r1 sport bike broke my spine in 4 spots popped both my lungs and broke 8 other bones I never realized how good I had it before all this until it happens and you never expect it will be you live every day to the fullest enjoy it you never know what can happen and even still some people have it worse then I do and that’s what humbles me through it all

Sadly chiropracty won't help this gentleman. He has some form of ankylosing spondylitis which needs surgery and soon. These are the types of people that are homeless through no fault of their own, they are unable to work but can still care for themselves in some manner. Our social safety net was meant to catch people like this and instead the deserving fall through and the able find ways to use it as a hammock.

Makes it nearly impossible to do basic daily tasks much less work any kind of job. It breaks my heart seeing him doubled over so badly. I'm not that severe yet but I can promise you without that little scooter to put some of his weight on when he walks, he wouldn't be able to walk at all. Every step is just so painful from the legs all the way up the back.... I can't even go into a grocery store without gripping a cart the whole time, even the smallest activities we take for granted are so hard for AS patients. Seeing him walk in and hearing his "it's alright, could be better" broke my heart. I pray things look up for this sweet man. He deserves so much more ❤️ thank you for bringing some light to his condition.

It breaks my heart to see the truly helpless, and homeless people cry at getting a gift and any kind of help. Like life's been so heavy and they feel so lost and helpless that they can't believe that someone actually noticed that they are there at all. I cry with them for their heartache. Life IS getting so hard to get through after covid and even before for some people. Now that companies are open and crops, and livestock is back to normal, why does all the food still cost so much? Why are all the apartmens,rooms and houses so expensive that even disabled people not able to pay rent? I don't see why the government don't step in and provide help to house disabled and low income people without having to wait for years to get in line for help. People without I.D. can't even get help. God have mercy on them. On me. I'm in a nursing home with other disabled people who can't afford rent. Bless the people Father.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Same, you can see the pain in his eyes. My father was disabled and had daily pain. Due to a brain tumor it went to his bones and joints. His joints were deteriorating to the point he couldn't walk or do a whole lot. He tried to stay positive and loved his family but most days you could see the pain in his eyes as if he was just tired. Seeing that as a kid taking care of him will make you realize life isn't rainbows and unicorns for most. Makes you grow up quick. I wish this man in this video had loved ones to take care of him. He looks tired and gave out on life. 😔

Humans are complex and nuanced. No one is "pure". People make mistakes and make bad decisions, I guarantee this gentleman has at some point. I wish we would stop the obsession with purity. It doesn't make someone less deserving of help if they have made mistakes and someone shouldn't have to be a "perfect victim" to be empathized with.

Sadly many like him have no family no support system even with disability that's less than 1 grand a month that doesn't cover housing food utilities personal hygiene and clothes heaven forbid he need medicine
I see this all of the time they are the lost and forgotten living in tents in freezing temperatures no heat it's unreal and they are ashamed hiding the fact they are homeless and in need

It breaks my heart to see the truly helpless, and homeless people cry at getting a gift and any kind of help. Like life's been so heavy and they feel so lost and helpless that they can't believe that someone actually noticed that they are there at all. I cry with them for their heartache.
Life IS getting so hard to get through after covid and even before for some people. Now that companies are open and crops, and livestock is back to normal, why does all the food still cost so much? Why are all the apartmens,rooms and houses so expensive that even disabled people not able to pay rent? I don't see why the government don't step in and provide help to house disabled and low income people without having to wait for years to get in line for help. People without I.D. can't even get help.
God have mercy on them. On me. I'm in a nursing home with other disabled people who can't afford rent.

Same, you can see the pain in his eyes. My father was disabled and had daily pain. Due to a brain tumor it went to his bones and joints. His joints were deteriorating to the point he couldn't walk or do a whole lot. He tried to stay positive and loved his family but most days you could see the pain in his eyes as if he was just tired. Seeing that as a kid taking care of him will make you realize life isn't rainbows and unicorns for most. Makes you grow up quick. I wish this man in this video had loved ones to take care of him. He looks tired and gave out on life. 😔
