      I just bought a steam deck after I used my brother's and fell in love. Although I really considered a few others including the gpd, ayaneo, rog, and Lenovo offerings before that and I still might end up buying one of those in the future. Mainly because I wish the steamdeck was a little smaller and more portable, not because of it's power or operating system though.

    I think the problem with Ayaneo, which is a problem with a lot of these Chinese tech manufacturers, is they're focusing on releasing too many different products to fill every possible niche, instead of focusing on making one really good one.

      I have to agree you that statement

    • @HalAnime2
      @HalAnime2 11 месяцев назад +8

      I think its because they don't have the resources as an established brand to sell at a loss to make up on other sales. They pump them out to make a small profit then iterate better improvements over time to build up the margins and their brand. If they put all their eggs into one device, it would be risky and they could bankrupt if they don't meet minimum sales.

    • @thelegendgamer33
      @thelegendgamer33 11 месяцев назад +5

      Yeah I agree that they pump out quite a lot but the CEO of Aya Neo recently said that their intention is to do this purposely as that is what they can offer the market and honestly I'm actually glad they do it. I am preordering an Aya Neo Air 1S tonight which is absolutely perfect for me because I love the small form factor and significant amount of power in the device. I also love the design of the GPD Win 4 with the keyboard and mini optical trackpad so I'm glad their are devices other than generic steam deck rip off or obvious choices like the ROG Ally which asides from higher specs which will be somewhat obsolete in only a year, it really doesn't bring anything new to the table at all really.
      The Steam Deck is still phenomenal because of the support Valve has for it but I recently sold mine because I prefer niche devices such as the Air 1S which are way more portable so I can actually use it outside the house.
      The other thing I want to say is I'm glad their are smaller devices in general because the SD is actually massive in real life, like substantially bigger than I thought it would be and the Lenovo Legion Go is somehow even larger I've seen in prelease vids.
      I know a lot of people actually quite like the size but true handheld gaming for me has always been something at least somewhat pocketable, so all in all I'm glad Aya Neo exists even if just for the Air, I just wish they had better product support ie longetivity and an even passable warranty process so that the community could actually support their devices instead of focussing mostly on the SD and a bit on the ROG Ally for mods and the like in games (thinking of Starfield here which had SD mods in about 2 days)..

    • @JB-tp6uj
      @JB-tp6uj 11 месяцев назад

      That's not a problem...that's their strength. There's no such thing as a "really good" device because there are too many variable to consider for each individual. Having multiple devices means they can cover the individual who prefers a 6 in, 7 in, or 8 in screen. The individual who prefers small versus large handhelds. The individual who prefers a cross style d-pad versus a circular one. Trackpads or no trackpads. And many more variables. And like someone mentioned earlier, they can't afford to just make one device. Technically, neither could Valve if they didn't have Steam sales on the backend.

    Yet another Ayaneo model that's using Indiegogo, is made in small quantities, has a high price due to lack of economies of scale, runs Windows and will inevitably be superseded by a new model within 6 months. All massive disadvantages that means this will be the umpteenth Ayaneo device to be a niche within a niche.
    Got to question a 1600p display on a handheld - the current APU generation can't drive that res natively so most games will either have to run at a lower res or be upscaled to 1600p. It's also very annoying that every Windows handheld OEM reinvents the wheel w.r.t. game overlays/config tools - every one is written from scratch and none of them have improved on SteamOS's equivalents anyway!

  • @SylverstoneKhandr
    @SylverstoneKhandr 11 месяцев назад +35

    It appears solid in many ways (good to see someone finally including trackpads, solid screen real estate, nice build quality), but that cost is gonna stonewall quite a lot of folks.
    Also, I swear I'm losing track of all these Windows handhelds now. I blink and three more appear in its place.

    • @sacredsecrecy9620
      @sacredsecrecy9620 11 месяцев назад +8

      Yeah, they get pumped out on the assembly line like clockwork, without those devices ever even getting a proper chance to prove themselves on the market. As soon as there are new specs available, they get cramped into new handhelds and thrown out there. This is why there's no long-term support for those devices. You'll be lucky to still receive any kind of worthwhile customer service in a year for any of today's high-end consoles in case they start malfunctioning by then. Not worth the risk for all that money.

    The gyro and trackpads are good things, but Windows is not. I can even stomach a high price tag, but the key benefit of the Steam Deck is SteamOS. I like a gaming dedicated device like this having an OS that's designed specifically for gaming and not a full desktop OS, specially not Windows.

      Definitely. Windows OS is just not suitable for portable gaming devices, it's the worst solution there can be. Yeah, and those 600grams are already pushing it. Can't hold my Steam Deck for as long as I'm playing it, since my wrists start hurting after a while. So I put a cushion on my lap and place the SD on top of it whenever I'm gaming sitting on my couch. Can't imagine a HANDHELD device having almost the weight of a fricking notebook! That's ridiculous. Even if it's for the battery's benefits, to me it ain't worth the inconvenience. It wouldn't even be possible for me to game on that thing the way I do with the speakers on because they're placed below. A cushion would drown all the sound, so I'd have to use my headphones all the time, which I don't like to do if I'm not playing a horror game. That's also an important detail where I applaud Valve's designers for placing the speakers of the SD on the front, so that nothing ever hinders the sound that's directed right towards you, loud and clear always. Steam Deck FTW! 🤗

      It is indeed! Having a whole ass Windows desktop you have to navigate through with a stick and a D-pad and all those system settings you have to tinker with, being on a PORTABLE CONSOLE, is pure insanity. Steam Deck with its console-like simplicity of its Steam OS is SO much more convenient, it's really a joy gaming on that thing. All those SD imitations, however... Hmm..! Especially for THOSE prices they usually demand?! Nah, thanks, I'll rather keep my SteamDeck, no matter its weaker specs. It's still the best portable PC on the market.

  • @maikerugo
    @maikerugo 11 месяцев назад +2

    Well I like the idea of it. I also like the fact that there's a whole bunch of PC handhelds that now exist since that both legitimizes the format and gives Valve a little bit of competition-which will generally give comapnies incentive to try to make a device that the market likes and may drive expectations of features. That said my current feeling is that while it does boast decent features, the places where it feels deficient compared to the Steam Deck are made really painful due to the higher price point. Though the fact that the software is still being very actively developed is a good thing-hopefully they add the omitted features soon since that will keep these handhelds competitive.

    • @Andthenyeahhh
      @Andthenyeahhh 11 месяцев назад +1

      I think my favorite thing about this is that Valve released the Deck which created more competitors for the handheld market, but most pc gamers still buy from steam, so for the most part whoever comes out on top, Valve still wins.

    • @maikerugo
      @maikerugo 11 месяцев назад

      I also like the fact that at this moment Valve isn't stopping or even making it more difficult for folks to use games from other sources on the Steam Deck. I'm hoping that they continue to keep things this way since I feel like between using Linux and generally making the machine user-repairable It's different from most consoles made by companies in the business of selling/distributing games online.

    It's a shame, because I like the addition of trackpads and extra programmable buttons, but not when they are in such inconvenient parts of the handheld. The Steam Deck has the buttons and controls laid out properly, making it much easier to position your thumbs on the analog sticks, d-pad, face buttons and trackpads. I hope there will be more clones that take better advantage of this, but the fact there is now one that actually has trackpads means they're at least making progress.

    You need track pads for a PC based handheld
    With a normal controller you will never have enough buttons to play every PC game without controller support
    Back buttons will allow you to make button combinations i.e. hold the back button and now A isn't jump, but this can get confusing and difficult, as well as the joystick not always being very nice to emulate mouse input
    But with track pads like the SteamDeck you can have full UI based shortcuts with special icons or letters making keyboard shortcuts very easy to remember and really accurate mouse input
    I will never buy one of these handhelds unless they have track pads, it's why I switched from a Switch (which is fantastic) to the SteamDeck (which is more fantastic)
    So for me it's picking between handhelds based on where the trackpad are and how useful they are for gaming and desktop navigation
    If they have no trackpads I won't buy it, if they're difficult to use I'll buy one with better track pads
    These track pads sound great but awkward to use so I'll stick with the SteamDeck, I'm happy to see another handheld with trackpads though, we need more of this. The trackpads are necessary for a PC based handheld like the SteamDeck especially more so for one running Windows, you can't navigate Windows entirely with a touch screen and joysticks just don't cut it for mouse navigation

    This kind of product is a no go for me until they can start working with Steam Input properly. I hope that it's something that Valve can implement on their end.

    I wonder if those USB4 ports also support Thunderbolt 3 and thereby also PCIe (so you can use external GPUs). Their page say fully featured USB4 but then only specify data, video and charging and nothing about anything else.

    I think the performance difference. in Arkham Knight is caused by the RAM on the OneXFly being 7500Mhz. Aya Neo needs to release a 7500MHz BIOS for the Kun

    Im not the biggest fan of the trackpads being so low.
    But the look of the device is really sleek.
    Gonna be honest and say I am experiencing handheld fatigue the way you mentioned before and am starting to not think most of these are that interesting outside of the actual design looking cool.

  • @LeeLee-fi7mx
    @LeeLee-fi7mx 11 месяцев назад

    Onexfly has 7500hmz ram while the Kun's memory is 6400mhz. Aya has stated that there will be a bios update to increase the kuns memory speed but for now that is why the onexfly is a little bit faster. Perhaps when the kun does recieve the bios update with the faster ram, increasing the tdp will further increase performance due to the faster memory

    the Kun looks really nice, I couldn't justify the cost of the Kun though I will keep an eye on it. The honest reason I'll never buy a ROG Ally is because Asus has become a terrible company and I'll never buy another one of their products.

    It baffles my mind how companies think chunky bezzels like these are acceptable in 2023??? Mostly all phones,laptops and tablets are super sleek so this thing being that expensive and full of bezzels is crazy

    I wish the menu on the ROG Ally was this simplistic. It feels like a chore settings things up. For what I paid, I honestly expected a better experience. Games run great on it. It's just the process of getting there. So many steps.

    I held this device at Tokyo Game Show, and the screen was beautiful but this thing is absolutely massive and heavy. I already thought the Steam Deck was slightly too large, but this is just a bit too much

    The title is correct, this IS the closest thing to a Steam Deck... but upgraded.
    IF this had a portrait display and VRR, it would be the ultimate device.

    can u help me. I have the 2TB AYA NEO KUN and which some a huge battery im only getting about an hour of gameplay before the battery dies, that is the same amount of time i was getting on my AYA NEO 2 yet this battery is so much bigger, i figured id get more than an hour? am I doing something wrong? I'm playing games with SMART TDP, full brightness and some games medium, some high settings but again how can i still only be getting an hour off a device with way more battery power than the aya neo 2?. What am i doing wrong. I understand everygame is different but im just playing smart tdp on an AAA game for example like Arkham Knight and im only getting an hour, how can i be getting the same as the aya neo 2 with 10x the size of battery life. I heard someone say they were getting 10-15 plus hours out of this, what was he paying SNES games lol? im so confused.

    I love how you say 4tb, so don't worry. Truth is, you should worry that should be standard now this 512 and 1tb, 2tb needs to stop. As I can name 3 games, that would just zap that, cod. Destiny, starfield. Most new games take way too much space just look at original then look at remaster they jump up in size exponentially.
