      Agree! Best of true crime on You Tube all year was TIR tonight! LOVE the discussion regarding the intersection between the culture, good/evil, psychology, theology and humanity. Chris and Dr. B, please continue to bring your personal insights and perspectives as they relate to where all of those themes listed above intersect bc that mix (esp. including theology and the nature of humanity) is rare in the true crime world and it is what is missing in understanding these crimes and our culture. There can be no love without injustice. I cannot love this enough, and if equal affection cannot be.. .love that quote. Dr. B should seriously write a book on some of his own reflections shared tonight that interweaves his musings on culture/theology and all that he’s studied about the human condition. Please get this man a Ted Talk and a podcast!❤ I say this and yet selfishly I know that will mean he will be less available for TIR and Q&A! Oh, and thanks Chris for allowing Dr. B to talk about theology, God and what’s currently wrong with the victim mentality in today’s culture without fear of the woke mob!

    I left my husband in 1970 because of DV. I had a 6 week old son at the time. I did not remarry, fearing that I’d have more children with a second husband, thus putting my first child in an ‘also ran’ position, which could ruin his life. When I read Matt Perry’s so sad story, which featured this type of situation, when i hear Eliot Roger’s biography, I know it was the right course.

      Thank you for being a good mother and doing the right thing. It's extremely rare to see a parent put a child's well-being first in this day and age. Most people shouldn't even be parents. God bless you.

    I would like to say that for me….this has been the best podcast so far! It is clear that Chris and Dr. B have an extraordinary relationship and I for one can say that this was the best 3 hours that I have spent in a very long time! It would be wonderful to listen to Dr.B all day ! He is intelligent ,informative and interesting and beyond that,wise beyond his years! His insight as well as Chris’s insight is more than amazing! I was shocked when Chris said ….quote “Thank you for spending the last 3 hours with us”! I was so involved in the subject that I didn’t even notice! To Dr. Brucato! You do not “JABBER “😊 ! Everything you say has..as we Germans say..Hand and Foot..which really means that everything you say is meaningful in one way or the other! It is a true pleasure and honor to listen to you and if I lived in the US I would not hesitate for one second to come and hear you speak anywhere! Unfortunately I reside in France which makes this impossible! To Chris! Thank for your insight,kindness and compassion! I appreciate the chance to get insight into a life of a true hero and one of the world’s best detectives! I wish I could do something to help in your cause for the cold case foundation other than financial! I have been following true crime longer than RUclips has become so popular!
    At closing I would like to wish all of you,including mods and families ,a prosperous New Year and a very happy 2024!!! I truly love and admire all of you Thank you again Dr Brucato,!!❤ 1:48 By the way ! At the moment we are sitting in an RV in the middle of the Black Forest for the holidays🎉,

    I'd also like to reply to Dr Brucato's question about how many women have experienced misogyny. I won't detail every incident, as I could fill a notebook but they include being sexually assaulted in a taxi and on a bus (the latter involved the police). Being stabbed in the neck in broad daylight by a complete stranger who attacked me after saying to me 'I don't like your hair.' I went to the police and they did nothing. I've been followed in the street more than once, verbally abused by men as I walk past without me engaging with them at all. I've had men perform 'acts' while sitting next to me on public transport and standing at bus stops. I was followed home from school every day at the age of 13 by the same young man who'd wait for me in the same place. I was strangled by my friend's brother in a sudden attack that came out of nowhere. In the latter two cases, the men were known to be mentally ill. My friend's brother was later diagnosed with schizophrenia. The person who followed me I later discovered was the adopted brother of a girl at my school. Apparently he drowned her hamsters. And as far as covert misogyny, I am regularly dismissed because I'm female, whether in relationships, or professionally, or even just speaking to companies on the phone, it happens as a matter of course. I expect discrimination. I fear it. It's like a giant wall you can't get over. There are 3 men within a street of me who behave in a predatory way that makes me nervous. My instinct knows. And one directly next door whose abuse I have to live with every day. The police can't do anything because he makes sure I don't have a witness, he knows how to stay within the law. The law is virtually powerless to help women until it is already too late. I am perhaps drawing a connection here without being able to cite research, but the number of women and men I know who are childhood victims of abuse is off the scale. And I don't live within a risk taking or 'bad' community. On the contrary. They are just people I know from school, through activities and projects. Again, the worst thing is the silence. Very often, You Tube is the only place I can hear these discussions as it makes people so uncomfortable to do any kind of deep analysis into the causes. And I thank Chris and Gary and everyone at the interview room for bringing these conversations into the light in a fair, thoughtful and respectful way. I have only been watching a little while but I found it so helpful.

    I had two female teachers who taught me, and their classes, how to be open-minded yet remain a critical thinker.
    Whatever our natural viewpoint on a topic, we would have an assignment to write detailed papers on the opposite side of our beliefs.
    For example, if you were pro-abortion or pro-death penalty, you'd be required to write the paper on why being anti-abortion or anti-death penalty made sense.

    Chris, what case do you still carry the most? I can’t imagine doing what you do. 7 years I found my friend gone by 5uicide. It was horrific, bloody mess. Terrifying for me. It changed my life. Forever. I will never forget that scene. It’s still vivid. I did seek a trauma therapist and a support group. The support group was the best help. Stick with a support group in losses. I can’t tell everyone here how much you need to go for at least 4 years. I now help others who experience this kind of loss. Mention them every show. They have many types of support groups. It will help and in such positive ways. I can’t imagine seeing what I saw or worse all the time. My appreciation for law enforcement, first responders and the military members is forever changed. Thank you for all you do for us. 3:14:25 right here….gary is talking about it. I turned to helping others more than I already did. Great words Gary on turning darkness to light.❤❤❤❤❤❤

    Dr. Brucato, im halfway through where youre talking about how people are grasping for identity. Ive had this concept flowing around in my head for a long time (especially recently 🙃) but you really helped me put words to the phenomena im seeing and why im seeing so many people so easily ignore and throw away morals they supposedly had, and why they are so blind to what theyre doing. The massive scale of people who are doing that has been one of the biggest shocks to me recently. Im part of the groups of people you mentioned earlier who grew up with a definite religion/culture/identity, so maybe thats why ive been so baffled about this phenomena. I would love for you to have a whole show about identity issues, Internet "groupthink" (idk what to call it), and why/how so many people are so willing to ignore facts that they would otherwise listen to. Thanks for all you do!

    • @xXmissplutoXx
      @xXmissplutoXx 10 месяцев назад +1

      Also, you mention "brittle" people. Would the opposite of that be "resilient" people? Applying this to the identity talk, is this formed in like a nature vs nurture type way, or both, or neither? Like, would something like generational trauma play a part in this? I feel like I come from a family of "resilient" people so I really wish I can understand how the other side comes to be. I hope this makes sense lol.

    I truly appreciate what you guys are doing here. I'm a sociologist at heart and what you do helps me to make sense of these challenging times. I missed the live, but wanted to chime in on your poll - I used to work in security monitoring, and I witnessed a school shooting through security cameras. I was a safe distance away and in no danger what so ever, but still, I was affected. I'm not comparing my experience to those who lost loved ones, feared for their lives, or had to cope with the aftermath. Just seeing it was so awful that I can't imagine the nightmare for those who were present or directly affected.

    I read one of those profiling books by the Mindhunter guys. It was fascinating. This is like bringing that to real life in our modern society. They cover old cases that they were a part of in those books. But Dr. Gary is so knowledgeable about the cases that we are all following today. I would love to see an episode or two on the zodiac case. It’s always intrigued me and I thought that they had solved it. But I guess I’m wrong on that. I’m wondering if you guys ever think they will? Thanks so much for a great show and happy new year to each and everyone of you. May the Lord bless your year ahead.

    This was very interesting. Some of the angles are what I've not previously thought of - it's also important that we try our best to include and lend a listening ear to people who may not be like us. I very much enjoyed listening to your mini seminars; thank you for uploading the video...i'd missed the live session due to traveling but am glad to be able to watch it.

    3:10:43 “the only way to deal with it is to get to the healing” I am a pediatrician who has plenty of PTSD from the child abuse and child cancer wards I observed during my inner city residency and early career- would love to communicate more on the personal aspect of observing the worst of human suffering and evil afflicted on innocents and still retaining compassion and joy

    1:48:30 I could listen to Dr B discuss post modernism implications on psychology for hours. At times he makes deep theological points that remind me of some Dominican discussions. Wonder if he could be a Lay Dominican. Thanks for another amazing show.
