The rush jet glitch - you can only keep rush jet if you finish the stage and rush jet has energy - if you complete the stage and rush jet doesn't have any energy, he will not stay in your inventory... but you can just use the glitch again. Really enjoying your TAS videos, loved the mecha dragon video as well :)
@20:25 The reason it saids break man is its not yet revealed he is proto man until the end of the game. One thing would be cool is, there was a cutscene to use the unused animation of break man taking off his mouth mask to reveal that he is proto man. Another cut content which this game has sooo much of. Check TCRF.
11:04 cool. The Protoman screen is actually a loading zone in disguise. Because the tas skipped it, the game didn't had time to load the graphics for that enemy, so it looks glitched.
I'm getting old, back in my day TAS was all the rage. There wasn't much competition in speedrunning, and it was all about the content. TASes were much more anticipated than regular runs because they were cleaner and used crazier tricks than SDA runs. Now it's all about the competitive aspect and not about the content...
As a kid i never got to play through these games because i was always playing baseball …all stars…. School rinse repeat until i didnt anymore. At that point i had long forgotten about my buddy Mega man. I bought the legacy collection on 3ds (old ones) and recently i beat 1 and 2 now on 3 and it is a fun game. Love seeing how tas rips this apart. Wish the nintendo 3ds (on older models) didnt disable there store. I wanted to buy the second half of the collection but cannot anymore :/ Love the vids.
This was my favorite Mega Man game as a kid. Me and my friend used to rent it and he would pretend to play with the second NES controller. We found out that if you hold buttons on the second controller (I think it was right on the d pad?) and fall in a pit, your life drains but you don't die. I'm realizing that it also made the music go away. So maybe this would be a useful speedrunning trick for reducing lag.
At one point, as a kid, I started with Needle Man because of rush jet and one easy to reach etank for the rest of the run. Didn't know about speed running then, though. BTW, I enjoy these TAS reacts! Don't feel like "cheap" content to me.
Is there any advantage of using the controller 2 debug thing to kill the music? as far i remember, you could use the invencibility trick on the controller 2 to "kill" megaman in a hole, that both makes him immortal and stop the music from playing.
One thing about boss rush in megaman 3 is that bosses are weak against their own weapons. Me and my brother didn't know back then that certain weapons are strong against specific bosses and only would use their own weapons against them.
If you'd like some help with the buster only video ideas you have I speedrun the mega man games buster only if you'd like some extra insight on how bosses work. Great video btw keep up the good work. Also if I remember correctly the reason mega man can slide over those gaps throughout the speedrun is because of subpixel shenanigans which for humans is basically RNG.
Roahm Mythril is a badass and has a bunch of buster only perfect runs if you want to see some strategies. I'd love to see you do a buster only perfect run of megaman 1 or 2...

Back in the day when we had Nintendo. You can use player 2 controller to freeze everything with up A and super jump with forward B . Or hold them both together and have both. I am sure the run could be faster .
At some point they will reach the limit for how fast this game can be completed whit tas. When all the best glitches are used and all of the most optimal movement and shooting is done it wont be possible to clear it faster no matter what they do. Just look at the original Super Mario game, the tas that is done on that game is so optimal that it cant be cleared any faster what so ever.
