    Have tried many different methods over the years and this is the one that has given me the best results.
    Most important thing of all is to have plenty if tissue to-hand, as a non-pro you will either put too much or too little on. The spray helps to keep the silicone workable for a bit longer as well, which you’ll need as an amateur.
    If your walls are out-of-true, don’t use the tile-shaped tools as they won’t run-up the ealls correctly; bitter experience has taught me this! In those circumstances, your finger would be better, or the type of tool this chap is using. Good luck!

    Thank you! My daughter applied silicone awhile back and it is awful! There’s dry residue and mold everywhere in it, too! The sink leaks around the edges. I have to remove it all and redo three sinks, two bathtubs and around the bottoms of two toilets. Your method will be very helpful. My daughter used a compressor but she didn’t cut the silicone tube tip larger or at an angle. She didn’t use the tool the way you did, on one plane, then the other. She didn’t use the water spray. I can’t fault my daughter because she tried to help but failed with no experience or instruction. I’m sure l or we will do better on this very soon. It will be a relief to get the project off the to-do list and off my mind! 🚽🚰🛁

    I needed to replace the silicone in my walk in/wet room shower , previously I used the masking tape technique with variable and messy results.
    This time I followed your method and have had really good results
    .
    I have difficulty with the internal 90degree corners, they end up untidy, so next time maybe you could include how to do them your video
    Keep up the good work.

    This is one job I used to absolutely detest as I could never get it to look any good and ended up with silicone everywhere. The method I used previous to this was making tape but that just made it take long and, in most cases, I'd either leave the making take on too long which resulted in a lot of the silicone pulling off or there would be a kind of lip /ridge where the silicone had met the tape. I bought the same tool as you use in the video and this worked fantastically - I've just sealed the whole of a new shower enclosure and I'm very happy with the job. One thing I would be interested to know is if you have any tips for doing corners as this was the only fiddly bit I encountered this time. Great video.

    Excellent couple of videos. I bought and used the Cramer profiling kit (No 7) and found it produced very good joints. I didn't use the washing up / water solution spray to finish but will in future. However, one question - how do you achieve a silicone joint with whole (uncut) Metro tiles sitting on top of a worktop, i.e. the bevel edge sits with a 3mm gap on the worktop? In this case it's not a 90 degree angle.

      you don't have to take care about nozzle. Up to three days you simply pull out created plug from nozzle and if it is more than three days simply use new nozzle. This is my professional experience

    • @MikeV8652
      @MikeV8652 4 года назад +1

      @@gabriels32 You Brits are blessed to have caulk tubes with removable nozzles. Here in the USA, they're all made firmly attached in place, and you have to puncture the inner seal with a wire run in through the hole that you cut at the end of the nozzle. The product remaining in the nozzle sets, and you can't press any more out, so you have to throw the tube away, even if it has lots left in it.

    I’ll try the silicone tool. On your first pass pushing the silicone in the corner for me that extra would never come up, just smear everywhere since there’s no soapy water/denatured alcohol….im guessing the silicone rubber tool is able to scrape it clean? If it does that clean then the soapy water doesn’t seem necessary.
