holy smokes! This is the best explanation of MRP I have heard thus far. You actually tie-in the bill of materials with the MRP which makes it for me much easier to see how it all comes together. Referring to Planned Order Receipt and Planned Order Release as Planned Order Complete and Planned Order Start helped me quite a bit. Also, the way you showed the flow of numbers on the MRP time-phased record made it crystal clear. Thank you
The only problem with this is that it only applies to established companies, with a year or more availability of planning. What if you are starting a new business and don't have the ability to forecast from previous years? What is a good plan to have in place to start off with and how much should you’re expectation or growth be within that year?
Hi , what if we have capacity shortage for one work station and we have to produce at that time , as you say MRP uses backward schedule ( no delay is allowed ) what the system will generate ? thanks
Thank you Jeff for the thorough explanation. I'm looking to get my hands on an MRP training software package. Do you know where I could find one that would be relevant to what is used in the US pharmaceuticals/ medical device industry? Thanks, Andrew
+schwantz037 I am not aware of any online MRP programs, but if you send your specific questions to my email at jessmarino522@gmail.com, I will do my best to help you.
