I'm doing the same job on An 09 Rio as I type this.... great video and thanks for not wasting time talking about about which way to turn every bolt, lol!!
In the middle of a timing belt and component replacement when I came inside and found your video. I was gonna' be a cheap ass and keep my original water pump with 180K miles on it, but after seeing your vid I'm gonna' NOT be a cheap ass and replace the pump while I'm at it. =) Thanks!
This was a very helpful walkthrough! Thank you for taking the time to do this video!
Thank you! Ive got to do my belt as well, and the tensioner, id no idea how to go about it....you did great!!!
A very good video on how to change the timing belt and water pump on a kia rio hyundai accent
Great video, big help. What do you do if the marks don't line up after you turn the engine over twice with the new belt, I know you adjust tensioner but do you have any wisdom pointers ?
Hey when putting on the new tensioner, did that coil spring fight you to go on the "pegs" ? Grab it with vice grips?
when you where putting the timing belt on did you have a problem with the crank gear moving while putting belt on?
This is a great video, man. Thank you.
after taking that crank bolt out,did you have to reset the timing, did the impact move that balancer at all? great video
my crank pulley moved a little, but it was easy enough to realign it with the timing marks.
very nice, can you please tell me when I should replace my water pump?
Every 60 thousand miles
Hi. Is it the same procedure on Kia Rio 1.4l 2005?
Are these pretty good cars?
I did this on a soul and now a rio tomorrow....Its off a highway so wish me luck!
How often should it be changed? Mileage?
thanks tô make this vídeo for us
just had one question. how do you support the engine with the jack?
Most people just place a piece/block of wood under the oil pan to distribute the weight of engine and use a jack to hold it up from underneath the oil pan.
Hi I'm about to do a water pump And timing belt job on my 2003 Hyundai Accent all I need are torque specs I can't find them any where thanks donnie
There's a place where people used to get all that information VERY quickly, without an AllData subscription; the library. They generally have everything, specs, diagrams, walkthroughs. They often have a full stock of factory, Chiltons and Micthell manuals.
IMO This was good but ........Early on, before loosening the belts ....Crack the Cranksaft bolt loose, then loosen the belts, otherwise there no way to stop the crankshaft pully from spinning
Hi Amy and Rodney.
What would a job like this cost ? Just Labor wise? .....
First timing belt change (by itself) on my Hyundai Accent with the 1.6 liter (basically same engine as above) was in the neighborhood of $700.00 but I think I got a veteran's discount which probably took care of tax. Add the cost of the water pump and a service rate of about $100.00 hour and you're probably looking at $750-$825 (in the Midwest). =)
No real need to take the R.H. engine motor mount off unless you want a little more space to work.
Noob question; why do you have to change waterpump?
Not a "noob" question. =) TYPICALLY, it's such a pain in the butt to get all of the belts off that you may as well replace the water pump while you're at it (unless you're a cheap ass like me). $28.00 plus about $8.00 for shipping and you can get a Gates brand water pump from Rockauto. Cheaper brands are available, so it's one of those "you can pay me now or you can pay me later" propositions. =) Good luck. 2002 Hyundai Accent 180K (rusty, crusty and musty --like me-- but we rollin'!) =)
Tom Clark thanks for the info Gentleman
