The most memorable performance of this song ever by Sting. Thank you for sharing this. I wish that everybody, and your families, are safe and well on this day and beyond.
If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one Drying in the colour of the evening sun Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away But something in our minds will always stay
I will never forget💔 I told my grown sons if they were in a situation of danger to fight as did the passengers who died in a Pennsylvania field on 9-11-01
This is the most strong interpretation of a song I have ever seen you can see in his face and hear in his voice how he battles to not break into tears.
Everything and everyone is connected no matter how many years between this song and the 9/11 event sting was always destined to play on the night of september 11 2001
at this point in his career he's probably played this song over 1000 times, yet at 3:26 there is still a tear to wipe away. that's what powerful awesome great passionate timeless music does to a soul...
Thats the real point and you are right. And this guy is just pure love and his soul is singing..This is beautiful that he can sing and expres his emotions. I lost my Dad few days ago and just singing this song in my car..for him. I just found this video and now I am more sure this song is for his soul from mine heart. Just God know how hard is it but also just God knows how beautiful is it on jurney to another world. I feel blessed thay I know that my Dad s soul is now in peace and light. 💟
@@LanaLuable Do you have and/or have you heard Sting's album "Soul Cages"? It was inspired by the deaths of both of his parents, and in my opinion, it's still his best album.
Oh sure! So creepy! Who are these creeps. Lyrics to Fragile is sick, just plain sick! Ugh. A Thousand Years lyrics as well. Another sick song. How is it that no one see this???????!
I remember seeing this replayed at the 9/11 Fundraiser telethon....an amazing tribute at JUST the right time. Keep in mind, they were 6 hours ahead of NYC. So this means they played and recorded this song at 2-3pm NYC time ON 9/11. A mere 8 hrs after the crashes, 5-6 hours after the Towers fell. I remember my emotions at that time of the day, I was a mess. What courage it took for them to perform. Bravo to Sting and his band.
I thought i was never going to let drop a tear..but after hearing this beautiful song..i just couldnt forget that i was there,on Sept 11 in New York, i saw what i saw and felt what i felt..And for more that i ve been trying ,i just cant forget, when the world stopped and nothing has ever been the same...Honor to the victims and never let evil overcome our true nature.NEVER!.
I'll never forget seeing this........in september of 2001.........This particular song, on this particular day will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for your humble empathy Gordon (Sting)
This was my favourite live performance from him, because some emotion just cannot be captured exactly the same for every performance. The song fit the feelings and silence leaves a echo long after he finished. Bravo soulful and appropriate performance from a genius.
This song is unfortunately at its highest peak following tragedy. Emotion puts alot of heart into music and you can tell the difference between music with heart and everyday tunes.
+wonderglory you're seriously comparing the charleston shootings to 9-11? this song was never written about 9-11 in the first place.....it's just your typical pacifist "nothing comes from violence and nothing ever will" screed, except for it's got sting's tremendous talent for music and wordsmanship.....i love him for his talent and smarts, but i can't abide his adherence to leftist ideology, in spite of what his brain keeps telling him.......it's obvious he KNOWS better, but of course, it FEELS better to be a liberal...........but then, what do you expect, he's color-blind, after all.......
"..it's obvious he KNOWS better, but of course, it FEELS better to be a liberal......" Well, after the utterly idiotic war in Iraq which set that part of the world on fire, it certainly felt good to be on the smarter side of history. And now, pretty much on a daily level, it feels good not to be conservative. And once more on the smarter side of history. But then again, all those spineless republicans will once more try to blame a single person and pretend they would not have followed into the idiocy like brainless lemmings. Just like you did before. Just like you will do it the next time.
All throughout my childhood, this was just another Sting song. Since seeing this performance, though, especially given the context it's now one of those songs that I find emotionally difficult to listen to (up there with Dire Straits' _Brothers in Arms_ and Sade's _Pearls)_ Just a 9/11 story: I was sixteen at the time, living in Cornwall, Ontario. I learned shortly after the event that the son of my second grade teacher had been killed in the attack. My family and I decided we would go to the funeral (she had taught both my sister and me, and she volunteered with my mum). We literally could not find a place to park when we arrived; it was like the whole city showed up to pay their respects.
Thank you. I immediately thought of this song that I had heard over a year ago sung on Sept 11th by Sting as a response to what has taken place today in France.
Amazing how a song written 13 years earlier could have foreshadowed the events of 9/11. No one could have written a more appropriate song after the events of that day than the one Sting wrote 13 years prior.
I cried the first time I watched this video years ago, and it still tears my heart out when I watch it. I don't know how he performed that night, but it was a gift to the brokenhearted.
It was this performance after which I vowed that I would see this man perform live at least once before I died. One of the few things that made my "bucket list" even though I've never really had one except for those very powerful things that I usually cross off right away. After missing the Police reunion tour for lack of $, when I found out about Symphonicities 36 hrs before the concert, I didn't care if they shut off my utilities which were past due, I would go see it.
1:16 song starts If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one Drying in the colour of the evening sun Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away But something in our minds will always stay Perhaps this final act was meant To clinch a lifetime's argument That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could For all those born beneath an angry star Lest we forget how fragile we are On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are how fragile we are On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are how fragile we are How fragile we are how fragile we are
at 2:38 the look of shock, pain, loss, death, confusion, delusion, fear, doubt, etc. is so obvious and real...just what we all felt in NYC. Fragile live in Tuscany is ironically so appropriate for that very awful day that we will never forget.
Sometimes I think people from the Middle East were born to hate. But recently I also think many Americans are born to hate. They follow in the footsteps of their parents. I had a father who was such a racist. He called everyone who wasn't white horrible names. He was so mean, to me, my sister, my mother. He was bipolar, my grandfather was cruel and bipolar, in his entire life to my knowledge, my grandfather never told anyone, not even my beloved grandmother " I love you." Only until the end of his life my father ever became a changed man. I am so thankful I'm not like he was.

the perfect song at the perfect time on an otherwise terrible day

I like this version
1:16 song starts
If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are
On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
How fragile we are how fragile we are
