ooooh yes! thank you so much, I didn't end up getting one but it's good to know. Sorry for the late reply - I've been on a bit of a break. I hope you are well. :)
Big thanks for this video! I am new to the world of syphon... I got an electrical one, makes it easier I think. I noticed a few mistakes I was making, can't wait to try it your way! Though, to be honest, failed syphon coffee is still better than the rest!
Someone gave this as a gift to my and she just hid it for 2 years bc she didn't know how to use it, now im super thankful I found this video now I can get to use it 🤩🤩
I like science, but I also like your interpretation as magic! I've never watched a siphon coffee maker and the ending was quiet magical to see. I also liked your random Bueller moment.
I received one of these as a gift and I love it. I would recommend going against Hario's instructions. Set the top chamber onto the bottom chamber to allow it to preheat, but don't seal it. When the bottom chamber is boiling, then seal the top to the bottom and wait until all the water is in the top, then add your coffee grounds. This will give you more accurate control of your steep time and won't 'cook' your grounds.
Thank you so much for the video. I kept wondering why I was getting grounds in my cup. I totally missed that there is a spring on the filter to hold it down! Thanks, great video!
I just ordered myself a siphon coffee brewer (which is supposed to come in later tonight), and like you, I am afraid of dealing with the burner. I got a mini stove as a safety precaution and to use for other tabletop coffee makers such as the Moka pot.
That is such a great idea. I feel like Smokey the Bear has too much of an influence on me as a kid. 😂😱 thanks so much for joining me. I hope you love your siphon 🥰🙌
@@TeawithJann Here's the link to the mini stove I got from Amazon. Can't wait until I get them and I am able to try it out. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085NWQGMM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Tea with Jann, I finally got a chance to use the pot. The stove is a little short for the siphon, but I put a cutting board underneath the mini stove, and it works.
In case anyone else is searching, you CAN use rubbing alcohol but it will leave a lot of soot and be kinda smokey. Denatured alcohol is best and most big stores sell it. Some marketed as paint thinner or fuel or even fuel treatment (brand name Heet)
What is the process when it comes to the filter? I here some people wash them, or completely replace it after one use. So I’m just lost when it comes to that.
Hello 👋 thanks for dropping in :) this filter is reusable and it just gets rinsed out and left to dry until the next use. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy to help if I can 🙂
@@TeawithJann A lot of gong fu cha services have ratios of grams of tea leaves portioned to 100 ml water for tea pours into a fairness pitcher and then poured into even smaller tasting cups.
I used the washable metal/rubber filter that came with it and when I add the coffee to the upper chamber ( still maintaining flame) the weight of the coffee (30g) causes the water to immediately flow back down? Any ideas why?
Hmmm 🤔 I’m not sure. You have a good seal? You could try adding the coffee to the upper chamber before the water goes up and see if that makes a difference. I wish I could be there to help you figure this out. Let me know if you get it to work. Thanks for stopping in. 🙂
Sorry that wasn’t very clear. The directions say one scoop (or 10 grams) per serving. I’m going off memory on this, but I believe it would 5 scoops. I’ll have to see if I can find my directions for you thought. Thanks for checking in 🙌💕
In the world of coffee, 5 ounces is a "cup". Don't ask me why; I didn't make the rules; just passing it on to eliminate the misery of chewing on a mystery.
Enjoyed your detailed review of the Hario. I almost bought one at a coffee shop in Maine but decided to watch a video first. Your video great. Thanks
thanks so much for letting me know this - I really appreciate you taking the time. I hope I helped make your decision a bit easier :)
I got one of these for Christmas and I am so glad I watched this because I would have done the filter incorrectly! Thanks!
oooooh have fun! They are so much fun and honestly they make amazing tea/coffee when you have the time. Thanks for stopping by :)
You've probably found this already, but I've seen mention of a halogen beam "burner" (expensive) or a little butane burner thing (still not cheap)
ooooh yes! thank you so much, I didn't end up getting one but it's good to know. Sorry for the late reply - I've been on a bit of a break. I hope you are well. :)
I agree that the HARIO instructions were lacking! Your video was so helpful…. I feel more equipped to try mine out now.
Yay! Thanks for letting me know. I hope you enjoy! 🥰🙌
I enjoyed this video. My daughter izabel loved it.
Aww thank you so much for joining in and for letting me know. 💕💕💕

excellent coffee learnings. I have that exact unit, I appreciate your time.
Aww thank you. I really appreciate you watching for the kind comment. Thank you! 💕🙌

WoW! I did not know such a thing even existed! That was awesome!
Haha thanks for watching! So fun (and scary) right?! 😂🙌🤓

This is crazy. Great video Xx

Great tips! I’ve played around with it too, and it definitely can make a difference. 👏💕

So neat! I’m very tempted to get one 🙌
Hi, i just unpacked mine and the handle is not locked in place. It justslides upan down and got no idea how to tighten it
Hmm I’m not sure. Is it the same as mine?
The term is Osmosis when the water pressure’s goes up to the upper chamber and reverse Osmosis when it cools down and returns to the bottom chamber.
Ooooh yes. Or magic? 🪄 🧙🧚
This was amazing and you are cute as a button! I am definitely going to have to try this!
Awwww thanks so much. I hope it goes well 💕💕💕💕
Can I use rubbing alcohol instead of denatured alcohol for the burner?
Oooooh I’m really not sure. I’m definitely terrified of this unit so I used the suggested alcohol. I’m sorry this isn’t more helpful. 😔
I just did. Ethyl alcohol works.
Ooooh good to know. Thank you so much for letting everyone know 🙌

A normal cup of coffee is just under 100ml, that's how they got to 5 🙃 Also thanks for the video/guide 😀
ahhh that makes sense :) thanks so much for joining me - hope it was a bit helpful :)

How many scoops of coffee with the scooper do you use for “5” cups?

Really good video, except for the magic part and has part, there is no gas involved, hot water is lighter so it rises above Ito the chamber.
Thank you for the compliment. 🪄
A cup of coffee is calculated as 4 oz.
Thanks 💕
What is this witchcraft ? LOL !
So much magic 🪄😂😂😂
