couldnt agree more..soundtrack to my youth..used to lift the repeat arm on my battered up(but loud) hand me down record player so that the LP would auto repeat without me even havin to get off my bed..Modern World nearly wore out😂..makes me smile just thinkin about those oh so different days.
Punk's Davies Brothers in action. I always thought The Jam sounded like The Who playing The Kinks, if a description were needed. They changed my life, got me off my ass, and I got to see a lot of the world. Otherwise I could have lived and died on the same block. Cheers from the desert!
I saw Bruce Foxton in Hotel nr Reading, late 70s.....got my v young daughter to get his autograph (I was shy then)on a £5 note (only paper available) .. we spent it long time after when desperate! Damn!!!
I Am Nobody had suffered at this point. Tape used to repair the control panel. It must've been repaired because it was intact by the time John Wratten had it.
go the mod farther mr weller right fucking raw hard driving guitar player and bruce and rick right good bass and drums well done old sons still going strong british steel all the way
When ever I see this video, I always wonder what is making Rick laugh. Was it that he knew the cameras were focusing directly on him and he knew a close up of him would be on tv.
Este es el mundo moderno. ¿Qué clase de estúpido crees que soy para pensar que no sé nada del mundo moderno? Toda mi vida ha sido lo mismo. He aprendido a vivir por el odio y el dolor, es la inspiración que me guía.

@@chrisst8922 You're both part right. Often (but not always - eg TOTP 'Babylon's Burning' by The Ruts), a new, exclusive lead vocal track (nothing more) was recorded for the BBC prior to airing (thereby satisfying the MU rules). This version was used in place of the one heard on the hit single and then mimed along to when TOTP was filmed. Everything else is from the record. Perhaps the reason all bands didn't follow the pattern was because sometimes it simply wasn't possible to re-record in time for the show - the singer may be unavailable when needed owing to prior commitments for example.

I see several comments suggesting that The Jam were punk rock. I think that elements of punk exist. However, what about '60s revivalists' or 'Mod revivalists'?
I never ever get tired of this song , it always makes the little hairs on the back of my neck stand up when i hear it.
Great song! I love the Jam!
When they played this live the anger comes out and is superb.
Damn this song still kicks ass!
Genius song writing my god what intelligence Love this band
Never understood why this LP was/is so under-rated , just skip DontTellThem YoureSane and the rest is magic, loved it for 42 yrs now.
One of the first albums I purchased. I don't mind 'DTTYS'. Cheers.
@@slepper98 Have you seen the clip of Tonight At Noon live on US tv ? Love that song , and Weller's playing a teardrop .
@@stuartharrison165 I haven't as yet Stuart, thanks for the info I'll check it out. Cheers.

Couldn't have said it better. Weller and Strummer were my John the Baptist and Jesus Christ -- I'm still a disciple these 40+ years later.......
Yea that's good.
Ye I'd say that's a pretty apt description
Modern kids, in the 80s, we were slazenger jumpers, scalavs, and farrah .if u know u know...I had this. ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊

This sounds exactly like The Who in their early days.
The main riff comes from the who's pictures of lily
The Jam haters: we have reviewed your song and we don't like it.
The Jam: I don't give two fucks about your review
Fucking awesome! This I'd the anthem to so many pissed off young men. Fuck conformity!

This is not the actual single version. It's one they recorded at the BBC for this show.
yes it is.
@@mickymac6571 NO it can't be. Musician Union rules outlawed miming over a record so a performance had to be recorded and then they mimed to that.
