Thanks Christine. We definitely noticed grocery prices really rising before we left. Here in Nica one of the places I see such a difference in price is for fruits and veggies, so much more affordable.
Cutting our bills in half and sometime quartered. Insurance, property tax, and cellphone will save us thousands a year. Somethings are the same or similar in price but very rarely more. Our quality of life is definingly going to improve overall.
Great comparison and I love your house. No more winters heating bills for you. Just year round a/c and pool cost, which might be cheaper.
Yeah, getting away from the cold Canadian winter is a real plus for us.
Those prices and ranges seem way higher than similar items in Mexico. PPP of MEX is also significantly higher than Cordova for similar items at local, not USD denominated pricing.
We are not that familiar with Mexico pricing, we would love to know some examples of costs. SJDS is more of a tourist town in Nicaragua, so prices there are typically a bit higher than many other areas in Nicaragua. The prices are all in Cordoba but for the sake of the video we converted the prices to USD so that viewers can better compare prices to home. For us, compared to our home in Alberta Canada the prices are much cheaper.
What do you guys have for medical insurance down there?
We have insurance through military veteran benefits from Canada. We just found out this was possible for us. Prior to that we were in big debate if we were just going to pay out of pocket for any expenses or pay into a plan from one of the 2 big hospitals in Managua, Vivian or the Military hospital.
In one of your newer videos you mentioned you now have fiber internet. Please let me the speed/price and reliability, Thank you in advance. Keep up the great videos. 👍
We are paying $47 for 150mbps. So far it is working great! Kinda of interesting that we now have fiber optic internet at our home in Nicaragua and it was not even an option at our old place in Cold Lake Alberta.
What if you're a Canadian who lives almost entirely on coffee, tobacco, & chocolate?

Hi Ed. Yes my name is a Jewish name (but I am not Jewish). I am not sure if there is a Jewish community in SJDS.
They must have children. Why else buy a house?
We decided to buy a house in Nicaragua because the price was right, making it a good real estate investment. We don't have kids, just two super cute Bulldogs.
