      We did visit the Caribbean coast while in Costa Rica it was very beautiful. We found there were not as many camping options on that side but many nice small boutique resort style hotels. We had originally planned to go all the way to Panama but there was a screwworm outbreak in Panama that can affect dogs, so we decided to skip Panama this trip but it is absolutely on our bucket list.

    • @ChrisTovahsAmazingAdventures
      @ChrisTovahsAmazingAdventures 19 дней назад

      Yes, you can take your car to the island on the ferry. With a vehicle it is recommended to book the ferry in advance or arrive early in case you don't get a space on the first ferry. If you typically travel with your little one it is no issue, if you do have a life jacket for them bring it with you (just in case they don't have one that fits them well).

    • @ChrisTovahsAmazingAdventures

      We have crossed this particular border 4 or 5 times. We have had a few issues, but all related to our move and having camping equipment (so just regular border runs no issue). After we moved on our first border run we ended up having to pay "import tax" for our propane tank, camp stove and our 2 bulldogs ($75 USD). Generally just slow due to the vehicle TIP process.

    You didnt meantion TIP in your video but you did in the comments below. Is this fee required at every crossing? Is there a site that discribes this fee and how to pay it? Can all be paid in advance? Are fees required in the local currency?

    • @ChrisTovahsAmazingAdventures
      @ChrisTovahsAmazingAdventures Месяц назад

      You will need a TIP for each country and each has a different fee (paid in their local currency). You can get money changed at the border and/or there will be an ATM near by. In each of our border crossing videos we list all the fees and give you the ins and outs. Mexico is the only country that you can do ahead of time (10 days in advance, minimum).

      Definitely take the toll roads (no matter what route you choose). It will save you a lot of driving time. plan for about $300-$400 USD for tolls to get all the way through Mexico. You can pay cash (USD only) or they take credit card. You can use the website Toll Guru to check the fees ahead of time.

      The only reason we brought our vehicle was to get our dogs to Nicaragua. Having a foreign vehicle in country is not a long term solution, you have to leave every 30 days or you can extend twice for 30 days each but that requires a trip to a government office in Managua to process the paperwork and it takes several days (so driving to Managua twice per month). If it wasn't about moving our dogs we would have flown down with a few extra suitcases and bought a vehicle locally. Once we are not traveling so much we will buy a local vehicle.

    Calm guys army convoys in mexico are very normal they're probaly heading to base or training. But its pretty common also for them going to attack a cartel so be careful for that but otherwise its normal

      We felt very safe in Mexico, the strong military presence made us feel secure. That is not something we see often in Canada.

    Having multiple options really is the best option. You never know when you might need to adapt...you can't just Amazon it overnight or run to a local store.
