I'm glad you were able to go ahead and make this video where you go ahead and make this cool sign. You went ahead and did a good job.
Yup, couldn't go ahead without goin' ahead.
Brilliant Simple Job well done, looks fab and retro vintage, call it what you will..☠️🎸⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
found a scroll saw & band saw on craigs last week and I have been having a BLAST cutting out letters! I love your sign and I LOVE the Angle Iron as the frame, its gorgeous great job!
Thanks so much Mia, goodluck in your new hobby!
Thanks a lot! I have learnt a lot! Keep it up and keep the videos posted so that I continue learning this new field!
It's very good stuff John, just keep doing what you're doing, you're on a good trajectory.
Appreciate that Hampton, your channel rocks. Love the quality and time put into your videos
Love the angle iron idea as a frame!
I've been wanting to learn some basic welding because I think it would add such a wide range of capabilities and a whole new dimension to my woodworking. This is probably going to be the thing that pushes me to take that plunge, lol.
Subscribed and looking forward to checking out more of your vids.
A little tip to get the vinyl stickers to stick easier if u put a very light coat of poly before u place it the vinyl will stick much better then without :) I use this for making my wood signs and if I am going for a flat finished look I just take the sander to it to make it dull again.
nice sign☺ great tips.
could you turn down the sound fron the tools, in between you talk? i use headphones and almost fell of my chair😨😆 otherwise i really like your video and the way you explain. 👍
Great result!!
+Cactus! workshop Thank you!!!
a very thin coat of clear laquer will make sure the vinyl sticks to the wood bro. epic build, subscribed.
Thank you, i'll have to try that
pre squirrely times right here
Been following you on instagram forever... Finally checking out your channel here. Gonna be a good time binge watching all your stuff! Nice sign!
This old barn wood is getting harder to find, but you can't beat the look of the old saw marks on it.
Yea its a good look!
Wow this is different
This is different!!
Outstanding project and great narration, John. Congrats! Man that Festool sander is the ticket for sure!
+blazingnailgun Really is a great tool man!
Great build, John! I really like the narration too. Well done!
+DrewT Thank you Drew
Ripping with a crosscut blade, awesome sauce.
+Jesse G haha yes its actually one of those multi purpose blades. but me being too lazy to switch it every time I just went with whatever
It's a great project, John. Nice job!
probably a bit late to help you, but might help someone. when putting down the vinyl letters, use an old credit card or library card and rub them down before you take off the mask. it helps force the air out and it will adhere better to your surface
great work buddy
+Matt Diresta Thanks Man!
Dammit man! Now I am going to have to explain to my wife why I need to go buy a small welder! Great look on the steel sides with the barn wood. Sorry gotta go so I can click subscribe....
thank you! check out the lincoln 210 MP on my website. You wont be dissapointed

yes!
every time I find a new wood working channel I binge watch for days lol, anyways how do you like the 20v porter cable drill and impact driver? ive been thinking about buying I have dewalt brushless 20v but the porter cables look so much cooler
+Wellington I blew up the 20v Drill and the impact is on its last limb actually. So I am on the market for something better. Been looking at Makita, Dewalt, and Milwaukee.
wow...superb amazing
Great work!
Thank you!
Great Job!
Very well done video. Because of the poly finish I'm assuming this is an interior sign. What finish do you use on exterior wood signs?
really nice sign!
+Charles Holland Thanks Charles
very good... excelent!
Great video, the sign looks awesome! CA Glue is my best friend haha
+Bradley Richardson Yes CA glue saves lives!
Awesome project and video John. Is that cup sprayer a pain to clean up with the water based poly? I have 0 experience with a cup sprayer, I've only used my airless.
+Adam Gabbert Its the Earlax 5500 HVLP system, and i have no issues with water based poly, I only run water based in that gun though.
Right on, and thanks. I've been thinking about adding one to the shop. I'm gonna check it out.
Theyre a great investment!
loving the videos my only little thing with them is the audio levels. some times I gotta turn the level up to hear the voice over and then start bleeding from the ears when you start cutting wood or grinding metal. never the less awesome video!
yea i have gotten that a few times. Working on it in my newer videos sorry about that
cool! it's nice to see a youtuber actually respond to the comments. can't wait for the next video! keep it up!
Nice!
sorry for question not especially related to the project...noticed you use a Bosch Glide Saw. Thoughts? I'm looking to invest in one because of lack of space in my current shop. Any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks.
+John K Absolutely love mine and would recommend it to anyone, you can check out what I have here. I highly recommend it. Small footprint and always true! amzn.to/1X9rZLZ

Great sign...
+Houtje Boom - Be Creative Much Appreciated
Sweet Build! well done all around!
+Wood By Wright Thank you!
Hey man, Nice camera angles
+sa-maker thanks
How did you get the lettering to look yellow. Is it the combination of the type of wood and the poly?
Yea its the wood type and poly
how do you set pricing for your projects. I do home improvement and do well with that but have no clue on wood working
Pricing is an art form. I actually hired a coach (Shawn Van Dyke) to help me learn it. Check him out and he can lead you on the right path, has helped me grow my business profitability exponentially! Shawnvandyke.com
Various ways to do it. But you double wholesale cost, add cost of materials plus 10 percent then add your time times how many hours and what you charge per hour. Add it all up and that's your cost. Also do market research to see what others charge for signs in your area. If you are to low you need to raise your prices. If too high you need to come back down or make a really awesome sign worth the extra dough.
How thin do you make the poly for the sprayer?
+Chevee Dodd Dont thin it at all, just strain it. Its thin enough out of the can that it sprays very nice. I use 2 different tips in the gun depending on what im trying to accomplish
+John Malecki oooh. I need to try this then! Minwax Polycrylic? I have only sprayed shellac out of my gun and I think it to about a 1lb cut
yes sir, I like semi gloss. Sooooooooo easy to work with

nice vid but the volume from the machines damn they are loud
Why not wash the wood with a hose
Stodoys is full of amazing tips. It helped me a lot.
I did something like that with the help of plans from the Stodoys.
I really like the Stodoys plans.
You know hearing your voice for educational purposes is more important than having ear damage hearing how loud your tools are. I can barely hear you speak. Fix this, it makes watching it pointless.
Great work. You make this look easy though I'm sure it's not. My goal is to be able to make something along these lines. I think I would rely on a CNC to cut the lettering out though. Taking the easy way out.
Hola excelente video te Felicito una pregunta que pegamento le puso a la rajadura? Saludos desde Argentina!
