    If I could hug you and give you those millions of dollars through a screen I would! But unfortunately I'm still a broke college student trying to make it through my Contemporary Political Thought class. THANKYOU!

      I think it would be enough if each of us gave 25 cents.

    Thank you so much for this analysis! You have greatly helped me on an essay on the Chamberlain example. Your flowcharts really helped clear up these complicated ideas.

    Great video, I just finished Anarchy, State & Utopia. I enjoyed the book (it was slow reading though), and I thought Zozick's theories to be very acceptable to my own philosophy and ideals.

      Nozick is just fundamentally missleading about certain thins and takes them for granted his theory of original appropriation is not convincing and if their is no just acquisition of property there can be no just transfer he also overlooks that the state at least if it is Democratic is a voluntary organisation

      anon know have read Hobbs, Plato, and all of the Utopians. They want one ruling class and a group of lifeless people to fulfill their idea of utopia. I have read Rawls and his ideas on "equality". I've read Locke, Montesque and Tocqueville on what EQAULITY really is. And Equality is the OPPORTUNITY to do anything you want. Only under a limited form of government does that exist. In the Utopian world NO ONE has a chance to improve themselves. I believe I've read enough to be able to understand what I am reading!

    • @anonympirate

      Highlander9992003 You know that their are loads of different conceptions of Equality ? And the Problem with Nozick is that he first of all cannot give a convincing justification for the existence of private property and neither does he have sufficient reasosn why it is so important. In reality Rawls is right there are certain primary goods and property is not one of them and property cant be justified by some Lockeian fantasy assumption. Let alone that Nozick fundamentally underestimates the tyranic powers and freedom eroding influence of laizess faire capitalism!

      Without the benefit of PRIVATE Property why would I ever invest my time and effort into improving the land, and why would I work the land to provide for others??? I don't understand your thought process here. If I own the land then I will use good stewardship to keep it in good condition, and I'll make sure that my heirs inherit something worth having. And I'll take pride in my work and my property and I'll work for the benefit of others in exchange for money and the ownership of that that I have improved.
      Look at the Soviet Union in the '70's and 80's where the farmers did little to keep the land in good condition and never worked to really improve their yields and use good farming practice. They never put in the 80 hours a week that sometimes a farmer must do to get his crops in or out, or to maintain them or his livestock herd...

    I feel like abortion is more an identity problem and that can still exist in a libertarian frame work. One could say the mother is violating the rights/NAP of the fetus and therefore the government should step in and protect those rights. Or if you think fetuses don’t have their own identity then the state would be infringing on the rights of the women. Identity and personhood problem, not one of liberty.

    • @ethanwilliamson782

      this is why the separation of science and philosophy is retarded. Science does not distinguish the viability, and any human characteristic or possible human characteristics of the fetus at certain time frames. Hence, via basic biology, only the former can exist: the state infringing on the rights of the prospective mother.

    God said to Abraham, killl me a son (pay your tax), Abe said man you must be putting me on (portion of the total social product), God said no, Abe said What ? (redistribution of holdings). God said Abe you can do what you want, but the next time you see me you better run (Retribution). Abe said where do you want this killing done? God said out on Highway 61

    Nozick believes in tolls on bridges but not income tax. I don't see the difference.

    • @danielarodriguez4524
      @danielarodriguez4524 7 лет назад +4

      Passing a toll is a choice, while taxation is considered labor with no choice.

    • @stephensharp3033
      @stephensharp3033 7 лет назад

      It is like Skinner's view that lotteries should replace taxation because the individual does not understand he is paying to the state.

    • @ElasticGiraffe
      @ElasticGiraffe 7 лет назад +9

      Stephen Sharp A toll is applied only to those people who use the toll road. If you don't directly benefit from the service, you don't pay for it, and the transaction is voluntary. An income tax is an illegitimate claim on a portion of another person's time and labor. People have to pay whether they directly benefit or not, and it is coerced rather than voluntary. That's my understanding.

      @@danielarodriguez4524 Yeah, of course it is - lol - research the origin of the legal term - "Passing the Bar". A toll bridge, as Nozick envisages it, is an individual tyranny.
