Their voices have surprisingly similar tone to human voices. That means maybe they can be taught to repeat phrases. Catch me training a bunch of seals to say "I'm a squishy boy" and releasing them to the wild
Someone had a pet seal they named Hoover (voracious eating habits, that's why) who, eventually, figured out how to mimic what they could probably only assume was their human's favorite phrase. "Hoover! Hoover! Get over here!", and not only that, but they matched the tone and accent of the owner perfectly, the audio however is pretty old, and was recorded with vibration capture instruments, a cylinder I think.
Edit: Was wrong about the way the audio was captured, but all you can find on youtube is quite low quality.

Seal in my language is zeehond which literally translates to water dog, couldn't be more accurate.
