This is one of my favorite scenes of all I think. I watched zero tsukaima when I was probably 11 years old, and I honestly think that if I rewatched the anime I wouldn't like it as much. However, even today, after 12 years I still really like this specific scene and remember it from time to time, him talking to Del about his certain death, and the wind after that, the two moons in the background and the soundtrack, really cool. I have never found a very similar scene in other works.
Why I like Saito -Relatable -Loyal -Determined -Brave -Skilled -Has Derf/ Badass sword -Well balanced powers -Willing to protect those he loves -Has drip that I honestly want (Mainly his jacket)
yes, he does actually... well I'm not sure if he straight up said it but, yea. if you watch the 4th season it'll kind of explain why he's seen all his previous partners die. I hadn't even thought about it until reading your comment, just finished last season yesterday, only thing I can say is Saito definitely had to have been the most badass 'partner' Delf has had. but yes, he more than likely hinted that he's seen all his partners die
To make matters EVEN worse 12 years later, it is heavily implied that Gandalfr are the ones to kill the user of the Void if they ever went astray, using Derf as the weapon (since it can absorb magic spells).

Although people say they should have ended it here and I agree with that (let's be honest, season 3 was okay but season 4 was just pure shit :3) but if they had followed the light novel exactly how it was meant to be the last two seasons would have been amazing c:

Actually saito died but got revived by tifania. Some time has also passed before they meet saito. They must have thought s2 will be the last, which is why they did the anticlimatic ending Iirc, they retconned it in the animu since they did not expect that s3 would happen.
