Similar to a slot machine, they keep pulling the lever hoping Sheldon will be good, fun, nice, enjoyable, not abusive. Etc.
He doesn't explain why, but I feel he kept Howard because he likes making fun of him.

This is a great video in so many directions. Decades ago, I listened to Jim Steranko at a comic panel describing with excitement how a double-page spread he'd drawn in SHIELD would've cost millions of dollars to duplicate with effects in a movie and how he could produce something they couldn't. Well, now VFX can duplicate those images so all the more reason comic books should be playing up their literary roots and do the deeper character arc, personalities, subplots, those little moments of humanity that ground the story and make us identify with the characters. Movies can't do this to the same degree!
Comic books will not succeed trying to pace and plot themselves as movies. The medium HAS THE SPACE to be flex storytelling muscles with greater insight to the characters like Breaking Bad.

I am just glad (at least I never heard of it) this was not attacked during the show’s running.
We need at least half the cast to be black, at least one out of the closet gay (Raj’s metrosexuality played so well). Amy’s ambiguous bisexuality played so well.
