- Maria, the third daughter, born in 1899, was strong, broadly-built and good-looking, with light gray eyes. She could paint and draw, and played the piano competently. She was very fond of children and inclined to domesticity, and would have made an excellent wife and mother. Maria had the rare quality of being perfectly happy in all surroundings, even when the family was imprisoned in Tobolsk. For this reason, she was chosen by her parents to accompany them when they were forced to separate from the family and embark upon their last fateful journey to Ekaterinburg.
All the daughters were elegant and beautiful. Rest in peace.

I read that Maria felt excluded towards her older sisters and they often called her step sister bcz the thought she is so good and never get into trouble.
Maria even try to befriend with her cousin but Alexandra said it would make her sisters think she doesn't want to get along with them. I think it's quite sad and i want to explore more about her relationship with her sisters.
I also read Olga got angry with her in their days during captivity bcz she's being too friendly with the red soldiers.

Не верьте уважаемые господа, судьба другая!! Мария, как все Романовы, была спасена. Прожила до 1932 года, жила вместе с Матушкой, по доносы, были арестованы, Матушка умерла на второй день ареста, Марию чекисты жестоко пытали, допрашивали," кто она?". Умерла от пыток😢

@@Ylleeelle это в английском. Русские фамилии они транслитерируют. К примеру, наша Мария Шарапова у них так и звучит Sharapova.
Мужские окончания у женских фамилий часто встречаются в Израиле.

@@Ylleeelle Скорее всего все эти Довлатовы-Филипповы были еврейками (у евреек часто мужские окончания фамилий, у них это нормально).
Ну либо это просто придурки, слепо копирующие все американское. Про таких наша учительница говорила, что "теперь они американнее самих американцев".
А еще есть такая фишка, когда русские, уезжая в Америку, или на Запад вообще, окончание своей фамилии "ов" меняют на "офф." Был у меня знакомый с фамилией Краснов, уехал в Америку и стал Краснофф. Актриса у американцев тоже есть вроде Наташа Романофф. Тоже наша эмигрантка.
Не переводятся фамилии с одного языка на другой. они просто калькируются. Иначе будет как в том анекдоте про голубого хера.
