Nasality is not a "style" y'all lol it's literally the symbol of bad technique and placement. You can still sound cute without being nasal, look at Twice or April
It's not necessarily bad technique. I can see if they are using it WAY excessively but nasality helps getting higher notes. But it's often thought of as completely bad cuz most times its not pleasant to hear
@@soobdoob say bts jin for example. over the years he has found a way to make his nasality an advantage in singing and now he sounds way better than his debut days where his nasal voice was unpleasant to hear live
Yes, it's a style, especially in Japan. It's a choice for many of them. It's actually known as cute and if you watched the season, the couches made comments on it as a cultural difference to sing with half air or more, over a full voice. As well a nasal voice is highly valued in Korea for rapping, such as soyeon from season 1 (currently in g-idle), specifically in the Korean language, it emphasizes specific tones in the language making it easier to pick up the words. JYP also values the half air nasal voices, and has been noted a lot in for example k pop star (the competition show).

I wasn’t saying if Japanese people have nasally voices or not. I was saying that you can’t have a “nasal” accent since by definition an accent is all about how you pronounce words whereas as a nasally voice is about how the voice sounds to the ear and the flow of air whilst speaking. So accent isn’t the right word to use linguistically speaking. I wasn’t trying to say anything about Japanese.
Your voice naturally gets nasally as you go higher in your range because it’s easier to sing with the sound coming from your nose in high notes compared to low ones. Many of the J trainees use falsetto instead of belting which makes them sound more nasally in higher range...

I think the problem with the Japanese contestants is that they were all from the 48 line, and they have huge amounts of members. I feel like if the trainees for Japan were pulled as individuals they would’ve had a better advantage. If you take a look at smaller idol groups such as BiSH,Watsuta, Happiness, etc. They have actually really good vocalists, rappers and even dancers. I also notice that they happen to stray away from the all members singing and actually give the members individual lines. I think they should’ve picked trainees for Japan like they did for NiziU in which they were either independent or from a company.
things that do not matter: tone (subjective and unnatural to change your tone, you should sing how you want to), stability (why would the ability to sing while dancing ever matter to vocalists, it’s not like vocal coaches teach you how to sing while dancing), and pronunciation (that one is obvious), edit: also high notes don’t matter cos you can just have a naturally deeper voice, doesnt make you a worse vocalist

Mmm just cuz it works like that doesn't means it's good?? Like what sense does that have? An idol from Japan literally stopped being one after straining her voice and almost destroying her voice for signing nasaly. Tell me now, do you think THAT'S AMAZING!
I slightly agree with the rank only some points 1) Just because J-trainees mostly using nasal, doesn’t make K-trainees are way better. They are using throat and pitch to get higher notes even riskier than using nasal. Don’t forget Celine Dion also uses nasal. 2) I know Nako is using nasal, but she deserved higher place. She already knows her range, so she doesn’t force it when she knew she cannot do it. She has control and power, Miyu is poweful but sometimes control-less. I think with a little bit training for control she’ll be very good. 3) lots of people underestimated Sakura. She was very fine in the audience. But after judges going very harsh on her we see her confidence slowly went down. She is in fact one of the most stable from j-trainees. She’s using nasal I know, but same like Nako, she can control it and actually she is a good alto. It’s her natural way. You can hear her talking and singing voice is similar. And she started singing live in Violeta for example. I don’t hate Wonyoung, but taking her for example, her voice in talking and singing is different. Her talking voice is so mature and deep while she’s so cute and high pitch while singing. That’s why she always whispering when singing. It’s hard to make that little cute voice stable in real stage. And yet you said K-trainees were better 🙄 4) some of the trainees are not using nasal. It’s only cameras capturing it like that. If you hear their voice in detail, some of them singing naturally. 5) Please find out more about these trainees and Japan way to sing before you judge. Some of them are actually good singers or dancers already. It’s just produce making them like immature trainees again. And aside from winning, their reason to go to Produce 48 is to get some learnings. So support them ok? Thank you~
Actually, japan trainees admitted that they never received vocal training. And k trainees received vocal training and even go to art school for studying music. That's why korean trainees mostly better than japan trainees in produce 48 but i do believe some of japan idol/trainee that didn't join the program are way more skilled than some of korean trainees/idol
If you are going to rank them based on their Korean prononciation, I hope you would (or have already ?) also rank Korean trainees based on their Japanese prononciation ....
Support miyu!!! And as many had mentioned, I do think juri should be rated higher than that... But anyway, she is now a member in RP and I think this group suite her very much. I am actually a ketchy haha.
Am i the only one who got annoyed by the fact that she always nags about the korean pronunciation even though this ranking is about singing. You can be a good singer even if you didn’t know how to pronounce korean like??????
That's what I'm saying. They probably aren't taught how to talk in Korean in schools. Unless they teach themselves, they aren't going to know how to pronounce it.
Miyu is amazing, but she crashed out of a singing contest early on against Masuda Yuka. Sato Minami is definitely one to watch. Japanese idols are trained to sound a certain way, when they talk or sing. Oshima Yuko, a former top member of AKB48, had surgery on her vocal cords to achieve the effect.
I think that you should have specified that you judge them based on korean criterias (nasal voice, good/bad korean pronounciation). Otherwise, they can be very good singers but you classified them low because of bad korean pronounciation and nasal voice.
Although miyu is the No.1 ( I agreed with that),in the last video you said it was videotaped (yes it was videotaped), but the reason is because she can't hit that high note, so she asked help from her group and their director said anyone who can hit that high note will be recorded and put together their voices so that they can help miyu. (sorry for my grammars😁😁😁)
loona the distribution Sorry, I have already received too many video suggestions to take in more. Either way, you are very inconsiderate to suggest that many videos. I officially dislike you very much.
Am i the only one who thought juri is better vocalist than miru? Juri's range is wider than miru, also miyu's voice is unique but she is not main vocal material .-.
As someone who follows 48g, Oda Erina is one of the best singers.. along with Nakanishi Chiyori, Takahashi Juri, Miyazaki Miho, Iwatate Saho, and Takeuchi Miyu.
I'm so glad that during Fiesta era Nako is finally gaining her confidence. I don't blame her tbh. She is so talented but is always pushed to the back and always sings very few lines, I can see why that would make her feel bad about herself.

1) Just because J-trainees mostly using nasal, doesn’t make K-trainees are way better.
And yet you said K-trainees were better 🙄
4) some of the trainees are not using nasal.
@@fudanshiakut5114 just see another 48G member that already has solo debut, like takamina/wasamin/yukirin/etc
Sorry but miyu's highnote was supported by other trainees. She could not handle it well but she didn't give the main vocal position to others.(Neutral)
So what's wrong with that? It's not doubling but just harmonization. Miyu still sing the higher note
dont even get me started on how much i love Miyu’s voice.
If you are going to rank them based on their Korean prononciation, I hope you would (or have already ?) also rank Korean trainees based on their Japanese prononciation ....
RENA WAS SOOOOOOO UNDERRATED! SHE COULDVE MADE IT ALLLLL THE WAY TO BE HONEST! SO MUCH POTENTIAL
Support miyu!!!
And as many had mentioned, I do think juri should be rated higher than that... But anyway, she is now a member in RP and I think this group suite her very much. I am actually a ketchy haha.
“miru is an exceptional singer for a japanese trainee” what do you mean with this???
I also want to know
Am i the only one who got annoyed by the fact that she always nags about the korean pronunciation even though this ranking is about singing. You can be a good singer even if you didn’t know how to pronounce korean like??????
That's what I'm saying. They probably aren't taught how to talk in Korean in schools. Unless they teach themselves, they aren't going to know how to pronounce it.
They're all very pretty. And look better than me that's for sure.
But those pictures of them smiling are.... scary.
5:38 si la voz de Hitomi es super nasal.. Me gusta ella, pero su voz me irrita mucho :c
El final me mató jajajaja
ok but shoutout to juri bc her vocals have improved so much since she joined woolim
The top five are so good!
Miyu is amazing, but she crashed out of a singing contest early on against Masuda Yuka. Sato Minami is definitely one to watch. Japanese idols are trained to sound a certain way, when they talk or sing. Oshima Yuko, a former top member of AKB48, had surgery on her vocal cords to achieve the effect.
omd sounding nasal does not make you a bad singer. it is a style of singing and how to train your voice
Being nasal isn’t a style. It’s like the definition of bad technique and wrong placement ...
I think that you should have specified that you judge them based on korean criterias (nasal voice, good/bad korean pronounciation). Otherwise, they can be very good singers but you classified them low because of bad korean pronounciation and nasal voice.
Wth vivian literally sang rose's lines so good
Although miyu is the No.1
( I agreed with that),in the last video you said it was videotaped (yes it was videotaped), but the reason is because she can't hit that high note, so she asked help from her group and their director said anyone who can hit that high note will be recorded and put together their voices so that they can help miyu.
(sorry for my grammars😁😁😁)

Sorry, I have already received too many video suggestions to take in more. Either way, you are very inconsiderate to suggest that many videos. I officially dislike you very much.
curry curren LMAOOO THAT WAS SO SAVAGE I LOVE IT GOOO CURRY CURRENNNN
curry curren SAVAGE! YASSS SLAY they so immature to command you to do 5 videos. Hope ur not pressured :)
Miyu's voice is beautiful
Am i the only one who thought juri is better vocalist than miru? Juri's range is wider than miru, also miyu's voice is unique but she is not main vocal material .-.
Yeah i love her voice in ddu du ddu du
As someone who follows 48g, Oda Erina is one of the best singers.. along with Nakanishi Chiyori, Takahashi Juri, Miyazaki Miho, Iwatate Saho, and Takeuchi Miyu.
i’m still SOSOSO MAD THAT MIYU DIDNT GET INTO THE FINAL LINE UP
I'm so glad that during Fiesta era Nako is finally gaining her confidence. I don't blame her tbh. She is so talented but is always pushed to the back and always sings very few lines, I can see why that would make her feel bad about herself.
