Loved the video! Going back to Japan for my sixth time, but haven't been to Kawagoe in years. Saw some great things you shared that I missed my first time around!
I haven't been there in December. But we were there in February and it was nice bit definitely chilly so I expect December to be similar but maybe a bit warmer
Kawagoe is OK but it's main draw, the old buildings lining a couple of streets, are difficult to truly appreciate because for some reason they won't close the main street off to cars even on the weekend, which makes it too crowded on the non-existent pavements and busy with cars. I have only been to Kawagoe on a weekend and it was mobbed, not very enjoyable. If you're into old Japanese architecture specifically, I would recommend going to Sawara in Chiba, which is about 1-1.5 hours drive from Tokyo but by train it takes longer than getting to Kawagoe. Sawara is much calmer, you can truly soak up the Edo atmosphere and take time to enjoy the buildings along the river there but overall there isn't very much else to do aside a couple of decent museums. The people of Sawara seem to be more proud of their heritage and will take time to explain it to you. I'm saying this because I just visited both towns in the last couple of months.
Great vid - thanks!
What is the name of the place you ate noodles in?
Thanks for this content! I’m going to Japan next year in September and have added this place to my itinerary for a day trip.
Have fun!
I was there 30 years ago for a business trip, thanks for bringing back the good memory.
Glad you enjoyed it
