India, wonderful stewards of the land and rivers. Researchers are able to estimate that just 10 river systems carry between 88 and 99% of the plastic that ends up in the ocean from rivers.
Eight of them are in Asia: the Yangtze; Indus; Yellow; Hai He; Ganges; Pearl; Amur; Mekong; and two in Africa - the Nile and the Niger. Keep up the good work India.

A good human intent is the solution wherein each one of us says "No to Plastic". These people waiting and offering prayers to the river are one of those majority people in the country who are not at all concerned about mother nature and turn a blind eye in keeping cleanliness in the sorrounding.

Tamil Nadu; the state's literacy rate is 80.33% in 2011, which is above the national average. A survey conducted by the Industry body Assocham ranks Tamil Nadu top among Indian states with about 100% Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in primary and upper primary education. Here's how it works. Sanjay has to take his household trash to a trash tip that is half a kilometer away from his house. On his way, he see's Rajesh climbing out from the canal, which is dry at the time, and wonders what was he doing there ? He goes to look, and sees a pile of trash that Rajesh has been dumping there for some time. Sanjay thinks "hmmmm..if I dump this here, there is already trash, and I can save myself from walking the last one hundred meters to the trash tip. So, Sanjay dumps his trash along with the pile Rajesh as left. The next day, Badu comes by and see's the pile of trash under the bridge in the dry river bed, and thinks, hmmmm...other people have put trash there, that's where I will dump mine and save the walk to the trash tip. Eventually, the entire village starts dumping trash there and it begins to attract fly's and rats and stray dogs, and then people from the village start pooping there, because it's a thirty meter walk to the toilet. Eventually the canal stinks really bad, and at night, Sanjay and Rajesh notice how the smell makes them nauseous, so they call the Mayor of the village to complain. But, the village Mayor is Badu's brother, and he lets Badu dump his trash there, besides, it would cost money to clean it up. So, the next day, Sanjay, Rajesh and their friends rally in front of the Mayors house demanding someone do something. So the Mayor proclaims that dumping in the canal is illegal, but no one is held responsible, no one is willing to admit they are the cause of the problem, so, it just sits there like that, forever getting worse. In India, no one is the cause of any problems, no one takes responsibility to clean anything up or fix anything. It's always someone else's fault and someone else's responsibility.
