  • On a lovely spring sunny morning, Sunday 19th May 2024, we travelled over to Dudley to film progress on the Black Country Valley extension from Wednesbury Junction to Dudley, Flood Street and, eventually, to Brierley Hill.
Much progress has been made since our last visit and we had the opportunity of filming some of the track in Dudley without fencing around it.
We visited the various stops along the new route as far as Horseley Road where you can, with good zoom, photograph as far as Great Bridge.
Will it open later this year as planned? The jury is out!
We hope you enjoy this presentation and that you will give it a “thumbs up” and subscribe to our channel: RUclips Podbaba Transport.

It certainly looks like a new bridge is going in as the old one was cut up on site.
Nobody is saying whether or not the new bridge will be a replica or a totally modern bridge.

It doesn't look as though this will open this year as promised - even next year seems doubtful. We should start to be realistic about just how long these projects are going to take.

Have to say that, for a former heavy rail route, it is taking an awfully long time to get this done. It appears to be engineering overkill. For example the former bridge at Sedgley Rd was from the 60s and surely did not need replacing. And finally, the route needs be extended northwards to Walsall and South to Stourbridge....

Do you know where the tram stop will be in Flood street? ie roughly middle or end of the street?
