Visit Your World It was! There are very few places I've liked as much as Washington, I might be biased from growing up there, but I'm usually pretty disappointed in most other states I visit.
Logan, this is great! We're taking this route in a few weeks and seeing how its going to play out is going to be invaluable in getting the Mrs. to relax and enjoy the ride! (She hasn't recovered from some ad hoc driving in the Colorado mountains two years ago. Nor have I been forgiven, but on the other hand, it made her forget all about Route 50 in the West VA mountains from about five years ago. So we're even.) Also good to know that they have brats in Leavenworth. Much better than Army brats in Fort Leavenworth! The Cascades make the CO mountains look like pool tables. At least, the ones around the Boulder area. Thanks again!
Thanks! I don't think you guys will have any problems finding delicious brats, but usually I take visitors to the Munchen Haus (not a paid endorsement, lol, just some good stuff) though whether they're better than Fort Leavenworth's brats, I'll leave that up to you. Something tells me you're right, though. =) Did you manage to make it to Grand Junction while you were traveling through Colorado? Its scenery and mountains are really worth checking out, IMO. Definitely a different kind of beauty though (presumably the mesas being the pool tables--and they just happen to have the biggest one in the world!) Nice to see you'll be going in the summer. That's my favorite season thanks to the increased chance of sunshine. Fall comes in at a close second. Mostly because of the added bonus of Oktoberfest though. Hope you guys enjoy it over there. I'll be merely dreaming of brats and schnitzels until the next trip. =)
Visit Your World The above is how someone can use RUclips (owned by Google) to outmaneuver the insane Google idiots who destroyed their wonderfully useful & beautiful G Maps! The remarkably uninspiring "Bing" will have to do for now (no "Terrain" option! Besides, I still think poorly of Bill Gates). Never have been to the Grand Junction area, which is where I wanted to go two years ago, plane trip to Slat Lake City & then driving East. But that fell through. They just had a huge land slide - nothing compared to yours - what town was that again? We did make it to Nederland, CO --- ATT (American Tourist Trap) #5,301 (but a nice one), moving from East to West. From there we went north, see map, on Route 72 --- NO guardrails & slick dirt instead of paved side-of-roads & 1,000-foot drops off cliffs. I stopped in at a bar (in the absolute middle of nowhere) to get directions & water & to my surprise, got a booming roar of laughter from telling a quick joke --- True story NJ chain restaurant bartenders were caught pouring wood alcohol & other cheapo booze into Johnny Walker bottles, etc. "What does TGIF stand for" "What?" "Thank God It's Formaldehyde!" Went further north @ 15-20 miles & then east, down a canyon to Raymond CO. All that's left of that beautiful, tiny town today are our two souvenir T-Shirts, It was wiped out during the big floods that also ripped up Boulder about four months after we visited. At any rate, Route 2 in the Cascades is much, much better constructed & maintained. Also, its highest point is about 3,000 feet. Much better. Also looking forward to a minor league baseball game in Tacoma. Major league games in the NYC are a horror; the prices would stagger Midas if he were foolish enough to walk into Yankee stadium or Citi Field! Even Milwaukee Stadium (2012; great brats!) had FORTY DOLLAR baseball caps for sale. And half of that crowd had to get a loan to be able to wear clothes at the game - Who prices these things?! Who buys them?! How can they afford to... Thanks again!
Don Reed Sweet joke, I'll have to remember that one. Haha, yeah I can recall a few times in Colorado where I've driven down some roads that made me fear for my life -- every bone in my body telling me, "This is probably not a good idea!" And that huge mudslide in Snohomish this past Winter? What a tragedy. Luckily none of my friends were hurt there, but no doubt it was pretty massive for such a relatively populated area. Hope you enjoyed the game! Though NYC major leagues are ridiculously expensive, I can't say I've ever seen anything else that comes close to the experience (some opposing fans may disagree with that, lol). In any case, it would definitely be more enjoyable if they could get the costs to be more realistic (i.e. build bigger stadiums -- they will come!)
Visit Your World One visit to Yankee Stadium is feasible if your career as a bank robber has paid off (you now can pay any amount of money for tickets) but on return visits, you'll notice that in order to pay for the seats, you'll have to hock your clothes. Gets unpleasantly drafty in the late fall, it does, what with the regular season and the playoffs now creeping into a permanent 345-day schedule (excluding spring training, which is good for the drug company stock splits, what with the sale of birth control pills being marked up on the side of the pharmacy buildings with "P," "P,", "Ps" (just like the strikeout "K" "K" "Ks"). If they keep this up, Williamsport will be a ghost town soon, no more Little Leaguers watching games on TV and screaming, "DAD!" at men they're never met but have heard all about. At any rate, let's look forward to someone throwing a no-hitter on Christmas Day, clinching a pennant and ending the regular season. Santa Claus will be in left field, feeding the alley cats, indifferently chasing balls down hit his way.
tamajammer Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for checking it out. Both are nice in terms of scenery, but definitely different. You may want to take one to Leavenworth and the other back.
Driven this route so many times I lost count.... WHAT a beautiful drive it is! Love Leavenworth!!! Tis the Season!
Excellent, gives me some insight on my Harley trip this weekend
Seeing others ride this route has made me consider getting a motorcycle license. Maybe one of these days. Hope your trip went well!
I love it! I lived in Monroe, made this drive all the time!
Must have been nice being so much closer to the source =)

Great video. I spend as much time as I can in Leavenworth, I love the drive.
Thanks! I hear ya. I wish I could drive out that way more often.
