    Thanks for this vid. Saved me so much trouble. I had to replace a broken belt and the other vids and forums said I had to take the engine mount off. I had enough space to put the belt on but just barely. I had trouble fitting the ratchet into the socket at first but it all worked out.

    The best tool for this is a slim serpentine belt tool from Amazon. Much easier than any ratchet. Costs roughly the same.

    This the same as a captiva vcdi 2010? Just take the air filter off?

      No this n/an engine and not diesel either. It is used in equinox, Saturn vie and equinox.

    You didn’t even show how to remove the old one or even installed the new.
    Or tell how long it would take.

      With this trick you could replace belt in about 5 mins.... not really a how to video but an improvement to the usual how to of removing motor mount etc.... I know next to nothing about making videos other than doing a straight record so I try to keep them short and sweet...

    What size ratchet did you use ?

    • @urassisdragon
      @urassisdragon  2 года назад +1

      It’s husky 3/8 slim from home depot

      @@urassisdragon thanks, yep that’s what I got last one left lol was a pain to get the rachet on the tensioner I had to angle it then twist it. I had to use locking pliers on the handle to help twist it straight to get the ratchet inside the square hole. Such a tight space to work in!! I got the job done though. Thanks for putting this vid up. 👍🏼

    This video is misleading. Tensioner cant move enough to get new belt on because it hits the motor mount. I've been messing with one for a while now. Used ratchet and belt tool. Both can get full pull,but bottoms out against mount.

      I think you go below the tensioner.... the whole point of the video was to make life easy... if your ratchet is as thin as the husky then it can be done.

      Below the mount I mean not below tensioner....**

    Mine has broken 4 times and i cannot figure out why

      You have a bad pulley either one with a bad bearing creating a lot of resistance that is causing the pulley to heat and premature wear of the belt or a spot on a pulley that is cutting into the belt. I would say run the engine and get it warm and take belt off and see what you can find…

      @@urassisdragon thanks man. I checked the pullys. Part of me thinks the belts slightly to small because i pull the tensioner all the way back and the belts still stupid hard to put on. It takes 2 person to set it on the pully

      @@CristianOrtizserrano the belt O'Reilly gave me was at max tension. So i just went up a half inch in length from that and that's fixed it
