Of course, he was a great leader. However, he appeared to behave like a dictator for opposition and did not accept any point of view that was against his. Ppp played Gharaib gharaid but he did a little for poor. Zardari was a success story.

Nationalization of the Pakistani banks and other finance companies was the worst decision! commanding heights of the economy was taken into the public sector domain. The PBC PAKISTAN BANKING COUNCIL which managed nationalized banks did not pay attention to the changing technological requirements, customer preferences, modern banking practises, and hence, markets and institutions did not develop due to state interference and financial repression, as their peers(other regional banks) did in SE ASIA, EU or in the Middle East.
Pakistani banks were the first to establish a foothold in international markets from South Asia, by setting up branch networks in various countries. This was due to a dynamic private banking sector which existed in the 60s.
For e.g. Trained bankers like Agha Hassan Abidi moved out to the UK where he established banking business the BCCI, which gave Pakistani bankers, the opportunity to work in overseas banking and financial markets.
Result all top private-sector bankers and banking business groups left Pakistan, to do services overseas.
Similarly, other nationalization industries were mismanaged by bureaucrats! long list, which can go on and on.

Nationalization was right and positive but UN fortunately was foiled by vested elements,

But whatever industrial base Pakistan had was destroyed by the policies of Bhutto government. Education system was destroyed.
Economical activities in Karachi, nerve center of West Pakistan, started to die. Bhuto should not have been more than a foriegn minister.
He was an outstanding politician, yet remained a feudal. Today, we see him with a strong sided mixed analysis.

He was an engineer by education & profession appointed as finance minister by ZAB. He nationalized the private sector industries thus ruining the economy of the country.

Interested people can read Rafi Raza's acount of these events. As much as I respect Dr. Mubbashir Hassan, this interview does not reflect the complete acount of those events. Here, he is portraying Bhutto as a demi god which is far from truth. Even Dr. Sahab had his differences with him and tried to leave govt in 72 and 74 but was dissuaded. He finally did leave and after that he even said to Bhutto that he had lost his ground (socialism) on which he founded the party in order to ingratiate to the western world.
