      Yeah killer deal. I bought Big Blue a few weeks ago for $450. It really sucks that theyr return policy is pretty much non-existant. Big Blue is okay. Its got Dark Stalkers, but I hate the riser box, lack of screw hole covers, and lack of a coin door. Maybe I can fix all those things with aftermarket parts. I also have no idea if I have the BOE screens that are supposed to be better. I guess BOE is a manufacturer?

    Got mine for the $299 deal as well. It still feels a bit cheap and like a toy but, the look of it it getting closer and closer to what I remember in the arcade. I'm really happy with the 3/4 scale without the riser. It's also nice to have bat tops with octagon gates. The one area where it's still lacking is the cheap spring in the joystick (2lb) and the super mushy, crappy buttons. I did upgrade the spring to 4lbs which feels immediately better but there's really no excuse for having to upgrade the buttons. Still, for around $350-375 after upgrades, you can get a pretty nice experience and the best SF2 cab to date.

    I started to ignore the Arcade 1-up cabs as I thought the cost was a bit steep for one or sometimes two games. However, if they're going to continue to put as many as 14 games in them I think it might be time to pick some up.

    Great review, bud! Can you imagine if this is how A1U cabs started out as? Who knows where we would be now. Definitely a step in the right direction. Looks amazing, solid game line up, and online play.
    It’s currently $350 at Walmart, so any one still on the fence, I think that’s a great deal. But for now, I’ll just stick with my modded gen 1 SF2 A1U 😂
    Edit: well two weeks later and it dips to 299 - instabuy for me. Time to retire the gen 1!

    I find that plastic piece flexes and sometimes creeks. Also, sometimes when you're being a tiny bit aggressive with the movement of the joystick the control panel may move but the plastic piece stays in place so you really notice it being a separate piece. Do you find this as well? I've been adjusting the two screws on either side to find the perfect balance but it's still noticeable.

    Just wanted to mention that the Super Street Fighter 2 attract mode box was actually from a standard Capcom ROM and not 1up specific. I thought the same when I got Big Blue. The reason they keep using it I'm suspecting is both that Capcom decides what ROMs are licensable and also that the online play has to sync across cabs and the ROMs have to be byte-perfect for rollback not to corrupt games and make CPU generate different rng across cabs.

    Great review. I was so close to pulling the trigger at $399 . The deal killer was no new or alternate games from my Shinku Hadoken. The OCD in me is always bothered by my Shinku cab having an MK shape. Do you find the deluxe wobbles more without the riser?

    • @BillsRetroGamingShow
      @BillsRetroGamingShow  9 месяцев назад +1

      It is a little wobbly. I noticed it mostly playing the street fighter games and try to pull off some of the moves. I don't feel like it's going to fall over but I do think you lose a little stability without the risers.

    I just picked this up at WalMart for 371 bucks total and it showed up in two days ! And I was not really looking for it but at that price I couldn't pass it up and it is well worth it , I am not disappointed at all !

  • @JamesNGames

    I think Super Street Fighter was placed at the beginning because its attract mode starts off much quieter compared to the other Street Fighter versions. Even at the lowest volume setting, the attract mode for the other Street Fighters sounds much louder, like a seven, whereas Super Street Fighter remains at a one in terms of audio. It is possible that the developers took this route to save time and effort rather than adjusting the attract mode audio in the setup.

    • @BillsRetroGamingShow
      @BillsRetroGamingShow  7 месяцев назад

      I haven't compared them personally, but from all I've heard they are pretty much the same. Interestingly though, the Yoga Flame/Shinku Hadoken cabs came with an 8-way gate restrictor that you could swap out for the stock one if you like. This one doesn't come with that.

    • @Tishnikov

    Nice review Bill! 2 killer flaws with this cab - no DARK STALKERS, and the fact that no way could 2 bigger fellas actually play this cab at the same time comfortably. I'd much rather see the sides extended on the control deck so two people could play each other, vs the extension on the front (having both would be nice). It's minor step forward in terms of form factor, a step back in terms of game lineup. Of course no one will care if the XL version - sure to be released next year - fixes those problems, still it's a shame that some of the obvious flaws in older versions of this title haven't been addressed.

    • @SoulforSale
      @SoulforSale 9 месяцев назад +2

      I've heard the argument that these are too small for two players since the first iteration of SFII but I've had two players on the Road Warrior cab and it was alot of fun and hardly noticeable. Dropping Dark Stalkers is a major wiff, though.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment 9 месяцев назад +2

      They need to be adding games, not subtracting them. And maybe (probably) my friends are bigger than yours, but ZERO chance any of use can fit around any of the 2 player cabs. We're bigger fellas for sure, but not like pro wrester bigger.... hopefully this is cured in a XL version.

    • @BillsRetroGamingShow
      @BillsRetroGamingShow  9 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks. Yea, it is a shame it's the exact same list as last years cabs. I get they are just refreshes in a new form factor, but adding a few new games would have been an incentive for some people to maybe upgrade.

    • @vlcheish
      @vlcheish 9 месяцев назад

      One of the reasons I never got into this hobby is because of the sheer amount of turn around I see with these cabs. They keep releasing slightly better versions every year. I'm glad folks are buying them so I just view it on RUclips but one day if they can really wow me with a cab in size and i'd get one. They are getting closer.

    I kinda disagree on what the marquee title should be; when big blue became popular, people *only* played CE as it was default and has leaned towards more CE rooms until only recently. Same happens on MVC with MVC sinfe there are more MVC than XVS. CE is essentially a super (extra) broken game and less fun to spectate than Turbo -- even by Capcoms own reasoning, and similar for SSF2T, so it is probably more to make the community experience less bad. Great overview though. Seems to be just Yoga/Shinkuu with a slightly updated form factor and game lineup swapped.

    Turbo comes up because it is the PCB from last years model. Their marquee title was ‘turbo’. Kinda lazy on A1up’s part.

    • @BillsRetroGamingShow
      @BillsRetroGamingShow  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yea, I get that. Interestingly though on Yoga Flame I believe Hyper Fighting is first and on Shinku Hadoken it's Turbo. Plus, if you watch people's reviews both those cabs AND this one, the menu's look slightly different (different backgrounds). So, how hard would it have been to reorder the games? You're right, lazy on A1up's part.

    • @BillsRetroGamingShow
      @BillsRetroGamingShow  7 месяцев назад +1

      I don't think so. Width is about the same as other cabs (18.75") but it's actually a little deeper (20.5" vs 20") so it might not fit properly. In fact, I think putting this on a standard riser would make it even more wobbly. I would suggest, if you want to use a riser, check the Buy Stuff Store (buystuffarcades.com) and get one of their custom risers designed for the deluxe cabs. They come in 3" or 5" to add some extra height and they'd probably also add a bit of extra stability as well. I'm considering it for the two deluxe cabs I have (SF and Class of 81)
