- I got this cheap Chinese metal detector (MD-3006) to play with.
I've always wanted a metal detector, so when my cousin heard that, and gave me an old one they had lying around, I thought that I was going out and play. But before I had it up and running, there fell a foot of snow and ground freezer. :-/

To tune this detector you need to hold the red trigger button in whilst turning it on into VLF mode. Adjust the tune knob until the needle is in the middle and you hear the tone and then turn it down to the exact point when the noise stops, then release the red button. Then switch it to TR1 mode and give the red button a quick press. It's now ready to go!
DrewKrewTube any time after initial tuning you change any knobs or settings you need to press the red reset/auto tune button again.
Have sensitivity somewhere between 3/4 and full, discriminator mid way (the more you turn it the more different types of metal it begins to ignore, starting with iron) and ground balance at 12o'clock position and you should be roughly set!

How to tune discrimination (and obviously selecting tr2) for gold detecting?
I have a similar device sold by vida xl. I discovered how to make it's detecting range much stronger/deeper. When tuning it you should hold the red button and turn the tune button until the gauge moves as far into the yellow (NF) as is possible before it starts beeping. This seems to give it a greater range.

Hello Morten. If you like the T/R (transmit/receive) /VLF Disc.- type machine you fixed up in your vid (great job by the way!) , you'd (love) the little (1) 9-volt Compass Coin Hustler (1978 +/-). It automatically nulled out nails and other iron yet found all coins up to appx. 6.5" deep. And the Brinkmann Treasure Sensor 4000 (c. 1982; appx. 7" on U.S. penny) gave a very pleasant soft but firm high-pitch single-tone over a target and was a T/R non-disc. detector that also nulled out small iron. A Bounty Hunter VLF/TR 840 or 8400 are really deep, accurate machines that were newer generation T/Rs from the mid 80s and could go appx. 11" deep on a U.S. penny. T/Rs are VERY easy to pinpoint with as most of them, especially the non-discriminating models, were non-motion as well, meaning the coil didn't have to be in motion to pinpoint the target so the modern all-metal pinpoint mode was not necessary. Simply hover over the target in a fixed position like a helicopter and where the signal was the loudest, that's (exactly) where the target is. Have Fun and Happy Hunting!! Greg.

Well i must admit that I mostly was just playing with this Chinese metal detector (MD-3006),, i got it for free. and had some fun.

We used to MD in the mid-70s with a C-Scope, and had great fun although just finding old pennies, farthings, odd gold ring etc. on a local green used for fun Fairs. The most historic find on a pathway out of town was a 18C book clasp that my University categorised for us.
My Father purchased a MD3008 4 years agofor me to take up again, but it seems a very poor device c.f. that C-Scope & found zilch/nada/nought despite tuning/re-tuning etc. Will give it another go sometime.
The Detectorists series is a great watch, comedy/drama BBC based & re-runs on iPlayer or even Dave channel.

Yes this one was a little annoying, It takes about a day to recharge a 9 volt battery like these.
This video took 4 days (battery recharge bla bla),, and then it became very cold outside. :-/

Your certainly in this vid look very New to this thing as u stated yourself . Because im in this community already for a while and testing the detector inside your/a house is regarded to be a rookie move. A move alot of us have done including me hehe. But it has to much metals processed into it a house. For that reason its best to test the thing out in the open preferable nature where your far from man made objects and its "things".

My PlayHouse well im not the most heart breaking emotional character if it is for Just the cold of someone that requires me to feel sorry when there are was better options. When u finally went outside I was really cheering u on like a fanboy untill I hear u say yeah but its frozen ground so I cant digg and at the same time sort of walk away from the gras. So I now yelling at my screen COMON DUDE AT LEAST JUST SCAN HERE AND THERE WTF.. And Luckely yeah he does Just THAT. Now im getting back on my previous statement hearing those tempting beeps. . NOW speaking in loud tone to u(my screen) Well Just give it a go man! Who cares how long it Will take to get it out of the frass(frozenGrass) or at least Just give it a try man Comon! ?! Even when u accept defeat after a while at least your a loser that isnt cold anymore! !! Hahahah :)

I have the exact same one. Ya I suggest getting the manual. If you need it I can send it to you. I can take picture of it. But yes it's not working properly because it's not calibrated. But I have the exact same one and I've found stuff. I just got it a few weeks ago. But I've found some coin money

No, I do not think I would buy it here from new. It is too cheap, and I think there must be far better models,,, they cost just also more. The reason I tried it here, were you I got it for free to play with,, and that is a reasonable price :-)
Since I made this video earlier this week, we have also gotten 10 cm of snow, so I will not come out and play right away :-/

I do not know,, I would look it up on ebay, and see what it goes for. If you have a good friend, it might be worth it, to make a little bit less, in exchange to have someone to go treasure hunt with.

I’ve just got one of those second hand and I’ve put new batteries in and I don’t Think it’s working. Does one of the lights come on when you turn it on because any of the two lights haven’t come on.

set it to VLF and slide small switch to B1 and B2 to test batteries
I have an equal but the coil cable is detached from the connector
What is the order of the cables in the connector? Yellow, red, blue and black green.
How do they go in the connector?

Hello I just wanted to ask what the ground thing is on this machine I have the exact machine and it I haven't a clue what I'm doing I was given it by a friend but I can't detect anything more than about 2 inches is there something I'm doing rong I also have a Garrett Ace 250 and that machine is a really good machine I can get up to over a foot deep on all sorts of metal but it isent the best on the beach that's why I would like to learn how to use the MD-3006-A correctly

Dude just use new batteries and do metaldetecting. i have that crappy detector and it works just fine.
9v nimh (rechergeble) are totaly useless for pretty mych everytning.
I Should probably replace it with an LI-ION battery.

seriously i had this machine and it sucks . if you want a good chinese machine i suggest the gc-1023 . Seriously outstanding performance for a budget machine. check out my video testing the tiny button i found.
