Team Liquid CSGO - The So Close Era ft. Thorin (Part 1 of 2)

- Team Liquid's 2019 line-up, with the addition of Stewie2k and coach adreN, are one of the 10 best teams to play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. With 2019 not even finished yet, as of the recording of this video they accomplishments and statistics which leap off the page and would impress even the most hardened skeptic.
Yet they won't be remembered as even the best team of this year, thanks to Astralis' resurrection to world number one status. NA's greatest line-up also failed to capitalise on a blazing unbeaten hot streak, nearly unparalled in history, and thus lost an era as it seemed certain to be secured.
For Team Liquid line-ups in CS:GO, getting so close to victory but being denied in heart-breaking fashion has tragically been a dominant theme of the organisation's history.

I think TL2019 might be one of the greatest tragedies in CSGO history. They were hyped up so much, greatest of all time material but circumstance and mentality kept them out of the realm of the elite.
Oh wait fuck s1mple still doesn’t have a major.
FaZe xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
@@sivisionCEO I feel like liquid and faze are tied for be let downs in the cs scene
@@derekbedard909 Idk about that, faze was a much bigger let down they had even bigger names in the world. Niko, guardian, karrigan, olof, and rain in that time were all S+ players while other than elige and naf, the other 3 members of TL were more A tier. Lot of credit should go to C9 for pulling a miracle at home but in hindsight faze should have crushed that series easily.
@@WilliamsJang ya but liquid dominated so much up to the major that they should have easily won but while faze did dominate but not to same extent
It was an exciting summer. Hope valve makes a change where the major is before the player break where teams will be at their peak.
I kinda understand why it is after the player break though. It allows teams to cool down and start training for the most important tournament of the year. Imo I think it's better, no momentum
player break was added for players to take a break BEFORE MASSIVE GRIND BEFORE MAJOR. It allows all teams to be prepared for 100%. U cant take away player break.
i agree. if you want to take a break to grind before the major just skip events and boot camp or only go to events that are nearby to reduce travel stress.
razneK and it proves who wants it more

wow such a good video! entertaining visuals, nice storyline, thorin. cant wait for part2
The background music is way too loud, please lower the volume in future videos

2:58 starlin berlin major :) love you thorin
Ok i thought I heard wrong
Oh how I love these Thorin narrative video.
When he said its not tennis... csgo is exactly like tennis with the overall rankings and the major tournaments...
He means you don't have a world championship with ALL of the best players I'm guessing, and format wise. I don't watch tennis so I might be wrong, but you don't have other events which take 3 weeks to play, with BO3's in all the matches, with in most instances the top 16 teams in attendance. Most events have a few of the top 10 or top 5, and then various teams from the top 20 or who are from that region who got through qualifiers or invited.
@@Masshorde In the official pro tennis circuit there are 4 types of tournaments:
ATP 250s: Mainly top 100 players
Comparable to a Dreamhack Open
ATP 500s: Mainly top 50 players with a few top 10
Comparable to a Starseries
ATP 1000s (Masters): Premier tournament with the best players
Comparable to a Cologne/Sydney/Katowice
Majors: The most important tournaments of the year, with the biggest draw and of course with absolutely all the big names.
Comparable to the CSGO majors.
Imo Csgo and tennis are super similar in terms of how the circuit and ranking system works.
What are the songs in this?
3:00 "Stalin Berlin Major"
LMAOO
The frustration from 2019 might become their motivation for that major.

I really hope g2 can come back this year. At least break into the top ten
Liquid would have their own era without Astralis. Unfortunately for NA, they will be remembered as the second best team in the Astralis era.
Yes,NA fanboy always say = "Liquid got better after they added stew"
But Liquid always playing a perfect cs even since 2018,the reason they cant never dominate the scene and create an era = it's because Astralis stopped them again and again
The reason they almost got their 'era',simply because Astralis took a break in the summer
What happen after Astralis back into their form and not skipping event anymore?Liquid can no longer aim for 'era'
@@julianroday7233 Agreed, I root for NA but reality is reality.
@@julianroday7233 WoW finally someone who gets it...
People say how stewie is really important to Liquid's success, well if he's so important, why did Liquid only win when Astralis wasn't there but then lose straight 6 series against Astralis and doesn't win a single tournament after iem Chicago?
the player break was probably the biggest factor. prior to that they had beaten astralis twice and lost to them once.
@@beanburritocs So you're still gonna say player break was the biggest facter well after the major? I would get if the players lost their form after the break during the major but rest of 2019 not excusable, stewie needs to do a better job in his hype role.
@@player764 yeah i would say that. during the major it was more a direct cause but the loss at the major and the tournament after (new york??) probably hurt liquid's confidence a lot. that confidence was their greatest strength. regardless, your original point was whether or not stewie was important. prior to stewie they couldn't win tournaments even if Astralis wasn't there (remember new york 2018? ).
also yes, i never said stewie was performing well recently - he hasn't. if anything that shows how important he is - when he is performing badly they struggle. he also has additional importance as the hype man as you mentioned.
Logan Herman New york was just Mouse performing really well, we’ve seen teams do so good and win tournaments here and there like last year how mouse won 3 tournaments in a row beating astralis and 16-0ing EG.
WTF happened to Liquid after the playerbreak..... I hope they dominate 2020 and finally win a Major!
U want to know what happen?
Astralis got back their old form
That's what happened
After all, after the major = the only team that can stop Liquid is Astralis
Just look at 90% of Liquid's events after the major,100% they lost to Astralis in QF/SF/F
It's not like Liquid lost all their 'power',it's just like 2018
Astralis got their old form back slowly
Hope so
Background music is too high for my taste.
Thats the longest recap ever.
They NEVER had an era!
Astralis didn’t go to tournaments and thats it...
Keep telling yourself that. Agreed astralis are the better team but that doesn't mean that liquids achievements were meaningless
Gautam Vaze i didn’t say they were meaningless , I just said that they weren’t good enough to achieve an era
@@gautamvaze1101
That's the fact
Back in Liquid almost 'era'
From 6 events they won,Astralis only attending 2 and lost 1 in the group stage
Lol,even Astralis lost to Enve,Big,Furia in Liquid's almost 'era' because they skipped so many events
U must be NA fanboy/blind,if u think summer Astralis is a top 5 team
They cant even beat Big in one of their best map and u truly believe that's the top tier astralis?
And u happy Liquid beat this 'strong' Astralis in their 'almost' era?LOL
U see what happen after Astralis got their form back?
6 consecutive win vs Liquid after the major
that's the fact, not a dream like most NA fanboy dreaming of
Julian Roday must be an eu fanboy lol. Liquid got the intel gram slam in record time, not astralis. Liquid beat all other eu teams last year and dominated all opposition. Don’t try to discredit a team for their achievements, makes you sound like a kid
Shoutout to nafs helmet hair
it looks clean on his head. I prefer this over anybody hair on liquid except maybe twistzz
Twistzz so sexy haha
Agree. Liquid never had an era.
Don't have to argue with people saying Liquid had a era anymore
it was most dominant era ever but short one :D
@@dailyminecraftletsplays.1101 Guess I do have to, era definition "a long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic.". Simple answer, wasn't long.
@@dailyminecraftletsplays.1101 Sure, even though every person in the world calls it a short era. You're definitely american.
@@dailyminecraftletsplays.1101 I didn't know "every person in the world" was my opinion. My bad
@@dailyminecraftletsplays.1101 It's obviously a exaggeration but because your brain can't comprehend anything too complex, I'll explain what it actually is. The huge majority of people would considering this period of dominance extremely short compared to other periods.
The worst thing about this is the bandwagoning of weaker EU teams onto Astralis's success. :/ Salty FaZe and Vitality fans scream bloody murder in twitch chats whenever TL falls to the danes.
Just like NA bandwagon
They got out of their caves when Liquid beat 'weak' Astralis back in the summer
Like it's a miracle
Then got back into the caves after 6 consecutive lost
The same fucking hypocrite
Oh,the irony
*Stewie is the problem*
