Makes sense. Only those worthy of it can take it out of the stone. And because Soma is a reincarnation for of Dracula, the sword probably doesn’t see it as worthy.
The amazing power of the Claimh Solais in this game was not just that it was a Holy and slashing weapon with great reach and high attack in a game where a plurality of enemies are weak to slash and holy, but it seemed to have noticeably less end lag than the other heavy swords...maybe just a few frames less, but it made a ton of difference. No surprise that it became Soma's trademark weapon in his appearances outside of the Sorrow games. What was better was that unlike many other ultimate weapons in other games, you got a fair amount of time to abuse its power. If you knew the secret to getting behind the waterfall and could survive the Forbidden Area, you could access it as soon as you got the Skula soul. All you needed was the Undine soul, and either the Manticore, Devil or Curly souls, which could all be obtained either before or shortly after you obtain Skula. If obtained as soon as possible, you still had roughly half of the Underground Reservoir, and all of the Underground Cemetery, Arena, Top Floor and Chaotic Realm to abuse Claimh's ludicrous power. Meanwhile in Dawn, if you want to have the Claimh and the Chaos Ring at the same time, you have to get a soul from every monster in the game first, leaving you only able to use this broken combination in the final boss battle. If you want the Claimh as soon as possible, you have to give up on obtaining the Chaos Ring for that playthrough and then _still_ have to wait until The Pinnacle to get the soul you need, leaving only that area, Subterranean Hell and The Abyss to enjoy Claimh's might without New Game+...and even then it's not nearly as wonderfully broken as it was in Aria - its reach isn't much better than the other Great Swords, and it has the same amount of end lag.
Game balance is definitely reminiscent of SotN since they were mostly all just random weapons that were thrown around. The thing about SotN is that they were so wildly different that you could get one of the strongest weapons (heaven Sword) as early as you could double jump. They definitely saw their mistake with Claimh Solais since the second game balances this by giving it such a low speed to compensate for its damage. Funny enough, that also made certain weapons like spears significantly better.
Well, it is a BASIC attack, and Soma has 50 Bullet Souls and 25 Guardian Souls if you want a variety of animations and sprite work. Even then, this still has SOME variety with spears, overhead weapons, swords, guns, and fist animations.
I love how he went from a standard 9mm handgun, then to silver bullet handgun and then not an assault rifle or SMG but straight up a positron rifle.

5:25 "It was far too big to be called a sword..."
"Too big, too thick, too heavy and too rough. It was more like a large hunk of iron".
Hahaha 🤣 yes, i immediately thought of Gut's Dragon Slayer when I saw that sword.
Alguém sabe onde fica a espada yasutsuna
But.. there's bigger, and they still called it a sword
lol I never knew the Excalibur had the rock stuck on it 8:07

these are cool as hell, I'll never understand why the game allows you to buy ascalon so early on and just ignore most of these

Weird soma isn't worthy of excalibur, he seems like a nice guy
I assume it's cause he's not english enough or y'know, the fact that he's the next Dracula
