You put flowers together and people pay money to buy them. I believe that makes you a professional. I love your bouquets and I love your videos. Y'all work so hard and I wish you ever more success.
I never realized how much I appreciate your flower farm until now. I love seeing you make bouquet's from your garden, so many beautiful colors and textures. You are SO talented. I can't believe you took grocery store flowers and made something beautiful out of them!❤️
I am so thankful for this video. I have been so excited to plant my first cut flower garden, buying seeds like I’m a large scale farmer or something hahaha up until this video I hadn’t considered that I have never done this before…I realized i could be in my backyard with tons to choose from and not know where to start as far and cutting and actually making the bouquets. Thank you for breaking it all down for me. Your an amazing teacher! I know your super busy but have you considered offering online course? Anyways love watching your videos and your your content 🌻 -Team Flowers
I don't think we are at a place to get online courses together, but its something to consider as a winter job next year. The first time I made a bouquet, I had to do a Google search to figure out what to do, lol. I haven't done a crazy amount of research on actual florist tricks, mostly just how to make bouquets, but there are lots of really help simple videos on RUclips. You can make things complicated, but I think just focusing on simple mechanics, and not feeling too intimidated by need to copy someone else's style, is the base that everyone needs to confidently make a great bouquet
Serina wears many hats, gardener and farmer, artist, business woman, instructor, inspirational speaker and motivator, wife and mother (and let's not forget the sun hat and vacation hats!) She wears them all very well and with her own style and flair! Today's video is one more feather in your cap lady!
It's been wonderful watching your skill and confidence grow at your ability to make your farm a success. You are succeeding because you keep analyzing what worked and what didn't and why. Congratulations for what you have already done and your plans for the upcoming year.
I watched this ages ago before I followed you and just rewatched it. I remember finding it really helpful but now that I “know you” I love it even more. Thank you so much for all you’re helpful content💚
My daughter and I started our flower farm 2 years ago so we could make money for her ballet classes ❤ It's a LOT of hard work, and I'll be honest... I do most of it. But I have seen her love of flowers just grow so immensely...as has mine ❤ I always wonder if I'm in over my head, but quite honestly, I can't live without these beautiful plants anymore. ☺Good luck to you and your daughter in your journey!
absolutely love the bouquets. So glad I found your channel. I’m a first year flower farmer and one of the best tips I’ve learned from you is don’t buy mixes. (Too late now). Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for this. I’m just getting into the world of flowers, when I realized last year I needed more pollinators for my veg garden. It’s definitely trial and error for me!
This was really helpful! All of them looked beautiful 💐 I can't wait to try making some bouquet with the flowers from my garden this year. Thank you for the video!!!
We are growing flowers for bouquets this year on our 1/4 acre property. You have encourage me to reach past my limits. I made a few last year from our growth around the property and they sold. Thank you
NICE!!! I say my market bouquets are made by a thumbs and toes florist! It gives you the license to create bouquets that people are generally going to recreate when they get home sometimes anyway. Fresh flowers are always going to be loved no matter how and who bunches them. We just have to have them.
This was fun to watch! I’m ready to see you planting out into your tunnels!! Wishing you guys the best of luck with the flower farm this year. 🍀 I’m loving your haircut!!
Thank you Serina!! I’m good at growing the flowers, but all thumbs when arranging them. Spiraling!! Who knew??? You videos have inspired me more than you know!
Lol, I feel the same way. I learned about the spiraling, and it instantly made everything so much easier, and the bouquets look so much better. It sounds awkward, but it does sit really nicely in the hand, and it's a very natural movement even without a lot of practice
I needed this two weeks ago when I made a bouquet and a few boutonnières for my son and daughter in law’s small wedding, using flowers from Trader Joe’s. Unknowingly, we used the spiral method, they were beautiful!
Hypericum berries. Spikey - Protea and Orangy foliage bits are Alstromeria Lillies. They are fantastic when boomed out. Dont be afraid to raise your color up a little above your filler, let it jump out. Ive been a designer for more than 30 years. You do a very good job. Cant wait for your gardens to be overflowing!!!
You’ve got me inspired to try a bouquet of my native wildflowers! I’ve been growing them for my wildlife but maybe a few to try as a bouquet will be a nice touch inside 😊
A good trick before bring in lots of stuff is to do a vase test. Not everything works well as a cut flower. I will cut 5-10 stems of something, and put it in a jar and see how long it lasts. If it lasts a week, then I'll use it for a cut flower. But lots of stuff will only last a day or two, and so those I just enjoy in the garden. Hope that helps!
When I brought the bouquet in, my daughter started clapping and laughing with joy, saying "flowers, flowers, flowers" - its been a long winter for all of us, lol. She was then confused about how we had flowers ready in the garden, because I have never I my life bought store flowers, lol.
You did so many of us a lovely service. The overhead and close up shots were very helpful. I buy all my flowers at Trader Joe's in the U.S as they have a inexpensive and great assortment. With the world on edge I needed a calming moment of beauty. Thank you
I'm always amazed at the videos where people show the cheap trader Joe's flowers - they are such a good price. Costco is the closest to a Canadian equivalent, but its still a higher price
Great tips, I can never get enough filler together, and its awkward in my hand but its so rewarding. I usually do fixed arrangements not hand held, but I need to practice.
Thank you so much for sharing all your tips with us. I can't wait to see all your beautiful flowers you are such an inspiration. You and your husband or such hard workers and you doing a great job I love all your videos
Thank you so much. I love fresh flowers and buy and then growing season, I cut my own...........but, I have never known how to make a bouquet with the spiral technique. I loved the boho arrangement. Again, thank you for sharing.
My first time on your vlog tonight. You were recommended by a subscriber from Whispering Willow Farm. I was thrilled to see your location is Kelowna BC where my Brother and his family live. I watched three of your vlogs, loved them and subscribed. Looking forward to watching more.
TFS Serena! Everyone has their own aesthetic and style! I'm learning everyday! My season starts mother's day occasion week. Excited to start making bouquets!
Hi Serina!! I love the idea of a fresh and dry flower arangement....i am curious how you store it having a mix of both. The fresh would need water but the dry flowers don't like water? Congrats on your success thus far!
Yes! Been waiting for this🍃 I think there was a previous demo back some videos. 2022 version is your technique advanced! Berries - Hypericum Spikey globe flower - Protea
Thank you for this one! You didn’t even need to harvest and sell, but you made this effort for us! I have a question: how long do those dried flowers last, in a wet, fresh bouquet? I worry about that.
Yesterday, I added "2 flower bouquets" to my grocery list, cause I'm now seed starting loads of flowers for the first time and I wanted to play with some actual flowers. This video is exactly what I needed, thank you! 😁
It can be intimidating, but we are always our own worst critics. I always learn a lot by looking at bad examples and seeing the things I don't like about it, then making sure I don't do that myself. It can be hard to see what someone is doing right in the perfect examples, so I find it helpful to approach it in the opposite way.
I have some beautiful ornamental pepper plants and was wondering if they would work in small bouquets for example mason jar bouquet. The foliage is so pretty and so are the little pepper; I’m just not sure what the base life might be. Any idea?
Great video! You instinctively discovered the florist and landscaper's rule of 3s. For whatever reason, the human mind prefers arrangements with 3s (or any odd number, actually).
I actually cut out a whole section from this video because it's too long, where I was talking about the fact that I'm not strict about the rule of 3s. I find that it works well for the size of bouquet I normally do. But if I'm making a larger bouquet, I keep a similar recipe, and then work with 4s or 5s. I focus more on making things look balanced then on any specific number.
I always thought that you could never have flower stems out of water or you would irrevocably ruin them and they would not take up water again. Martha Stewart insists that you even cut them under running water so the ends are never exposed to water. You and other flower farmers often have the stems out in open air for quite a while. Does that affect the longevity of the flowers in a vase? Thank you!!
All of the flowers that you will find in stores, like these Costco ones, are getting shipped out of water around the world. They will spend days out of the water. So the hour or 2 that they spend while getting processed on a local flower farm is nothing, and part of the reason the local flowers look so healthy and last so long
You put flowers together and people pay money to buy them.
I can't believe you took grocery store flowers and made something beautiful out of them!❤️
😲 That second bouquet! I want it so bad!!!! So beautiful! ❤❤❤❤
Trained or not your videos are so informative easy to follow, thank you. Jan
Thanks!
How did I miss this in March? I really enjoyed this video, thank you!
Lol, everyone missed this. RUclips didn't push it at all. But now we have it to reference when someone asks how to make the bouquets
I am so thankful for this video. Fresh flowers are always going to be loved no matter how and who bunches them. We just have to have them.

Very beautiful 😍 ❤ love it! The berries at 2:34 is st John's wort! The greenery at 19:52 is ruscus!! That stuff lasts forever lol
Thanks for the fantastic lesson, Serena! Can’t wait to see the ranunculus bouquets soon!
I needed this two weeks ago when I made a bouquet and a few boutonnières for my son and daughter in law’s small wedding, using flowers from Trader Joe’s. Unknowingly, we used the spiral method, they were beautiful!
Thank you so much -- This was so informative. I am going to watch it when I make my 1st bouquets this spring. You make it look so easy.

Lol, how about "I have no formal training"
@@YouCantEatTheGrass that too😆😳😂♥️
Wow Serina, your bouquets are beautiful, so is the cat!🐱

Thanks!
You are a great teacher! Would you considering offering bouquet workshops on the farm in that space
We would like to teach some small classes in the future, but we might be a little too busy for that this year
Thank you for this one! You didn’t even need to harvest and sell, but you made this effort for us! I have a question: how long do those dried flowers last, in a wet, fresh bouquet? I worry about that.
I love your flowers bouquets. do you sell walking onion seeds?
Thanks!

So helpful. Thank you. 2nd year flower farmer as I retire from teaching and I have so many requests exploding for my flowers. Scared to Death!

How different these flowers look. Can't wait till the "real" flowers are back
I like carnations and mums and roses, but they look so fake to me compared to the local flowers. I just find them boring, lol
Thanks for sharing what are the names of those flowers. I like the light blush color one. What is the name of that one?
Great video! You instinctively discovered the florist and landscaper's rule of 3s. For whatever reason, the human mind prefers arrangements with 3s (or any odd number, actually).
