- I bought a 2002 Mercedes Benz SLK320 cheap and wanted to fix the interior dash bezels & trim pieces. First you want to remove all the pieces and spray them down with the Citrus Paint Stripper

Next you want to let it sit for 15 minutes and then remove it with a putty tool.

After that, get acetone and wipe the service down to remove any other glues/or residue.

Next clean it off with soapy water and let it dry.
After that we are going to spray it with interior dash paint. You can get exact match or you can spray it with a similar black color. I used duplicolor interior dash spray paint and clear coat.

Clear coat - amzn.to/3MYesEI
I sprayed 3 coats of paint, and two LIGHT coats of clear coat. I waited 10 minutes between coats.
After that let it dry and carefully install.
NOTE: If you need to fix any cracks, use JB Weld plastic epoxy. First superglue it together with quick setting super glue. Then use JB weld to reinforce the crack.

Thank you very much for taking time out to make this video . I've watched a couple of other videos pertaining , to painting interior and your video is far better , than the other videos I've seen . I'm really impressed of how your interior turned out . Your Mercedes interior looks Awesome. And thank you for listing the products you used .
I plan on using your video and instructions to redo the interior on my Mercedes 1982 SL380 R107 .
Thank you again.
You’re very welcome! It works really well from my experience
Nice video - thanks for posting! Any chance you could do a revised version? Adding footage of the actual parts removal, repair and re-installation would be very useful.
Possibly next time I get one in. They are a handful to remove but just take your time and save all the pieces that break off.
@@karrskars if you do it id like to see actual painting as well :D (type of paint, specifically)
Nicely done! Thanks for sharing.
Good job. To be honest though, with the all black interiors (as I have in my SLK too), when I saw the panels after you'd stripped the paint off, I thought to myself; they look great as they are! I mean, they're black and look so clean having been covered by the paint for 20 years. Same with your instrument cluster. When you stripped the paint and cleaned it with the soapy water, it looked great as it was. I might seriously strip the paint of my panels and just leave them without painting them!
I thought about that too. It looks a lot better with just the paint stripped
Same thought, but wouldn't the paint protect the dash?
Great finish rotten audio tho', but I get the idea. Cheers.
How are broken plastic supports repaired????
Hi, is it possible to paint it an other color? Like brown/orange?
Yes it is
Wo kann ich das Spray in Deutschland bekommen oder kann ich es bei euch bestellen?? Lieben Dank für eine Rückmeldung!! :-)
You video was helpful. I am going to tackle my slk230 dash problem and needed guidance. Do you have an update on this project? And how is the dash after a few years?
Dash is still in great shape. No issues whatsoever.
@@karrskarswhen I pitched my SLK the consoles and glove box had the same patchy look and it felt sticky. I’m guessing it’s the old layers of paint. I hope to peel it off like you did in your video.
What kind of paint and painting tools did you use?
Check description for parts/tools/paint I used
How has this held up?
Great zero issues with it.
😅
