    I really like the lineage of X-wings, hard to pick a favorite.

    My fav will always be the Z-95 headhunter. It looks so sleek and I have multiple in my fleet of x-wing 2.0

    00:31 hooo, is this an artistic expression or a real X-Wing? It’s by far the best looking one I’ve seen and is perfectly proportioned. Wow. And the charcoal gray is just striking.

      That is an artist’s interpretation of the StealthX X-Wing. www.swagonline.net/node/3449

    "The X-Wing Family" to the tune of "The Adams Family" would've been hilarious!

    I always considered the E-wing to be more of the Z-95 linage than the X-wing, making it an aunt/uncle that’s still younger than you to the X-wing.
    (On the topic of it being an Uncle or aunt I say the ones with 3rd cannon is the aunt because the one without has the star fighter equivalent of a bald spot making Uncle more applicable.)

    T-70's my favorite; basically a cooler looking and lighter version of the T-65.

    • @RadioFreeCoruscant
      @RadioFreeCoruscant  11 месяцев назад

      A lot of people complain that the Sequels just rehashed the OT ship designs, but they knocked it out of the park with the T-70. It might actually be my favorite too!

    7:12 I’m very certain that the T-65 also has scissor hinges as the wings seem to articulate at a common center point

    • @RadioFreeCoruscant
      @RadioFreeCoruscant  Год назад +1

      That is correct. I guess a more accurate way to describe what I was talking about is that the T-65’s wings are two planes that move away from each other and the T-70’s wings are one plane that splits in half.

    I hardly count the Vector as part of the family. The G36 less so. And who's idea was it for the Vector's weapons to be powered by a lightsaber (if I heard that right)?! Look, it kinda looks cool; but that weapon function doesn't make sense to me. Then again, it is set in the "High" Republic (whoever came up with that name was definitely high on something).
    However my favorite will be the 170.

    • @RadioFreeCoruscant
      @RadioFreeCoruscant  Год назад +1

      The Vector definitely isn’t connected in-universe, but since it’s based on ARC-170 concept art I figured it was worth a mention.
      If I recall, the decision to make the Vector’s weapons lightsaber-operated was done to make starfighter combat less impersonal. By igniting their lightsaber before shooting someone down, the Jedi had to acknowledge that they were about to kill someone just like if they were fighting face-to-face, not just blowing up an enemy vehicle. It’s certainly an unusual choice, but I think it kind of works for the semi-pacifist nature of High Republic Jedi. If nothing else, at least it sets the technology apart a little.

    Stealth X, a member of the XJ series of X-Wings.

      Yeah, I realized the day after I posted this when I was closing all the X-Wing tabs in my browser that I forgot to mention the XJ-series, as well as the First Order’s X-Wing target practice drone from Resistance. Whoops!

    Edit: yup T-65BR aka the Recon-X aka the Snoopscoot(lol)

    When i first read the New Republic novels, concerning the Vector, i wondered if Jedi could borrow eachothers ship, considering all light sabres are different. Do they act like a key? Can you hotwire one?

    • @RadioFreeCoruscant
      @RadioFreeCoruscant  Год назад

      I’m pretty sure any Jedi can use any Vector. The lightsaber is only used to power the weapons, so you could probably Hotwire one like any other starfighter.

    I believe the story with the e wing is going to be the new republic was going to transfer over but do to cost and Demilitarization they stuck with the T85 x wing. Leaving very few e wing for only special units of the republic fighter core
    That just my head canon thoughts tho

    • @RadioFreeCoruscant
      @RadioFreeCoruscant  Год назад

      Could be. I think the E-Wing is more of an interceptor like the A-wing, so they might just have a different role for it altogether.

      The e wing was way to heavily armed for an interceptor.
      It was designed to replace the x wing as a space superiority fighter.

    What about other Z-series predecessors in High Republic? Those are definitely Incom.

    • @RadioFreeCoruscant
      @RadioFreeCoruscant  Год назад

      They are, but they look more like the Delta-7 interceptors than an X-Wing predecessor, so I assumed they were an unrelated product line.

      Oh, you’re right! I also realized a few weeks after making this that I forgot the First Order’s target training drone X-Wing. Maybe I’ll have to make an updated video sometime next year with the missing ships and new footage of the E-Wing and Jedi Vector!

    XJ Xwing? XJ was like the modernized standard for a long time in the old canon

    • @RadioFreeCoruscant
      @RadioFreeCoruscant  10 месяцев назад

      I didn’t talk about the XJ since I didn’t think it seemed that interesting at the time and it looks the same as a T-65. Someday when I remake this video to include the ones I missed and new footage of the E-Wing and Vector, I’ll include it!
