At this point this is the only Hanna checker I can recommend. I love it, and considering this is one of the most important things to check for, I tried a few of them. Made a few vids on it too 🙂
I love mine. Works great and the reagent is priced fairly. It gives you no excuse not to test alk daily. I bought a 4Es scientific adjustable 1-10 mL pipette from Amazon to use with it. I get extremely consistent results this way. You can crank it up to 10 mL to measure your water sample and 1 mL to measure the reagent. Rinsing the vials and storing them with RODI water inside helps keep them clean and clear. Don’t forget to wipe the vials with a microfiber cloth before reading too!
Good boy Matthew! 🥰🐶 I plan to get Hanna alk tester for my aquarium when I start adding corals, mostly because I want to use “all for reef” for adding supplements. I’m pretty sure it uses the alk difference to work out how much is required 🥰🐶

Yes. I have not had a bottle go bad since starting this practice. I test my nano tank once a week. I read about doing so on R2R. Prior to learning about degradation of the reagent, I once got my dkh up to 14 because I was dosing due to low test results.
Here’s a tip I picked up off reef2reef: Shake the reagent before you use it and after you open the bottle, store it in the fridge. Apparently there was an issue where the dkH would read lower over time, this apparently helps prevent that.

I use both Salifert and Hanna alk test. Both are pretty close.

Has that made the reagent last longer? I got tired of replacing every month.
I used the checker for 2 years. I don't use it anymore and will never go back. Why? You will find out.
Except their reagent stays good for like maybe a month and then it needs replaced.
What happened to the marine master?
Hanna isn't producing more of them. At least, not for now. It was an awesome kit. Hopefully they bring it back at some point in the future.
