I hope you all enjoy this episode on Memorial Day. My grandfather was in the service, WWII. Wish I could have known him better. Let's take a minute to be appreciative of those that have served this fine country 🇺🇸
I’ve been watching cars and cameras for pretty long time. I’m gonna say that this is my favorite episode so far. I know it’s a while ago but I bounce around between videos When I can. You guys have always been great. But seeing the intern drive the car how respectful he was about it. And how the two of you were standing there not knowing what to expect but letting it happen. It appeared to me to be three generations of builders in the making. One very experience builder who’s always exciting to watch in Isaac, John who is such an amazing mechanic builder much more but always looking to learn more, and then to see the intern just seeming to be excited to be there included and eyes wide open to possibility. Not to mention seeing this trophy 🏆 truck built from an idea?!!!! Great channel follow them everywhere. Good luck all blessings
Ya. Linkages are heavy. modified the stock shift arm so it can be pulled up/down with cables. The you can mount a shifter anywhere, use springs to keep the shifter centered and you can make sure there is never any pressure on the shifter arm. They are tight for room, so do what they did in the 30s put it on the outside of your right side and cage around it.
Lowering the front shocks upper mounting locations by a few inches will help with that excessive camber and caster angles caused by the bottomed out suspension ride height...pkus make the kart more manageable handling wise with less input required to control it..then adjust the toe to just barely toe out...
You guys can call it a transmission. It's transmitting power from the engine to the driveline. If people are giving you grief about something like that they need to take a new look at life and relax a little! Keep up the awesome videos!
That really goes! You should get some flatter shaped tires that aren't so rounded on top to get more traction, stop it from rolling so easy, and make it look cooler.
This kart is almost exactly the kart i've been designing for a while. seeing your drive yours around makes me want to blow all my savings and start building my own...
Have you thought about trying to use a PTO cable for your shifter? They are setup for pushing and pulling. This should eliminate the majority of the linkage slop and allow you tighten up your shifter significantly. The project is looking very nice. I hope this helps.
You need to replace the U-joint at the rear-end with a CV joint. It will solve the drive issues and allow for more rear suspension travel. U-joints only work in pairs over small and, more importantly, equal angles. That is why they use CV joints for wheels that steer.
Man that thing reminds me of a mini Chenowth FAV from the late 80s ish!!! Awesome. For what its worth, in the world of shifter linkages or linkage ideas/sources, Ive used a three piece bicycle crank and bottom bracket assembly with much success in a couple applications. The crank arms are usually high quality aluminum, and super strong, so welding/machining/tapping etc is easy. You can usually index them from the standard 180 degrees to a, ahhhhh, custom angle pretty easy. They are very smooth due to ball bearings, and depending on how you cut the frame and the frame material, your mounting options are basically infinite. Much leverage can be obtained if needed by lengthening one arm etc. Of course, having a supply of trashed bicycles helps! I would think a one piece crank could be used as well, I just havent tried it. Just an idea, keep up the awesome content!
Lift it a few inches up front when you fit the better shocks, too, and I think you got it guys! The engine/trans/gearing ratio seems really Trophy Truck-like. That's awesome! When you hit it, it goes RIGHT NOW! With a lifted front end, it will behave much more like a trophy truck. I would still love to see some mini trophy truck body work on it, after you upgrade the shocks/suspension.... 😉
Gentlemen, You've done a fine job with putting together these karts, each one unique and fun! I absolutely love your creativity! Your channel is called Cars And Cameras, may I suggest its time to build something even closer to a full size vehicle, a car, like a bigger badder trophy truck that you can confidently beat on? I like where John's head is at with building something you can dump the clutch on. I am not, however, suggesting a transition away from karts. You gentlemen have the skills, resources, and ambition to do it big. You have successfully built a spectrum of vehicles; keep pushing that final boundary!
Please get some actual shocks for that thing! Those helper springs have really light spring rates, but the dampening is set up for the full weight of a pickup truck.
There was a point when Ike was testing at full rip. I swore I was watching The Munsters, he was just ripping, hanging on and steering. 🤣 Probably just me but so funny. That thing definitely has some jam👍
I just gotta say...idk what it is about you guys but y'all are awesome. And i love ya John....but for some reason Ike is one of my favorite people on the planet lol.
I really feel like you guys sholud take the time and make a proper linkage shifter for this thing so you can confidently power shift it. They do NOT like unsure shifts or that much weight on the shift shaft and may have had something to do with the failure of the last one.
That thing is sick, and I know you guys are going to make it even better. Would be expensive but have you heard the V4 in the Motus motorcycle, it's designed after the LS V8 and sounds like..."DAMN..."
Maybe offer up some C&C memorabilia (parts, trinkets etc.) to also raise some funds for your expansion🤔 ebay auction, raffle or something similar😎 6:13
I know the halo on the cage is like that for ease of getting in but it is not safe. With the speed and weight of the kart. If it rolled the cage will fold in on your head and hurt you bad. Needs to have a x in the top to keep the corners from folding in.
There's in car video from a recent Legends car crash where the front of the roll cage folded down around the steering wheel trapping the driver in the car. He was extremely lucky in a number of ways, and being on track had the benefit of having rescue personnel on scene pretty much immediately. ruclips.net/video/zoUAhJIqwDk/видео.html Watch that and imagine what would happen if the trophy truck rolled at the far end of the C&C gran prix circuit and sustained similar damage.
If you need to engine/trans swap it, two different drive shaft driven motorcycle engines that I can think of are a cx500, or a Honda goldwing. Other wise it's a fantastic build
Hey carsandcameras been a huge fan of the channel for a long time and I was thinking that it would be a cool idea if you guys built two little mini mower go karts or drag racers just to see what you guys could do with something like that with the size of a mini mower and what you could put in it to make it go super fast just an idea thought it would be something cool to do.
Do a Chevy 350 kart. Or an LS kart. Maybe on a lawn tractor frame so you can use the body panels and have a V8 lawn mower kart. Not all high up but lower it and stretch it. Just throwing out ideas. Here's the kicker make it still able to mow and give it to pops to mow the house with. See if he's annoyed with the speed or if he gets it done in record time.
Hi guys! So for europe guys "transmission" is a system which transfer power from the engine to the wheels or another assembly. The gear box is the same thing but it has more than one selectable gears 😉
I would have put shifter below your right hand next to the seat. Looks like plenty of room, and you could keep your hand on it while driving. For that to work though, you'd need quicker ratio steering you could do with one hand. Now that I've watched you drive it, I suppose it doesn't much matter where the shifter is because you need both hands to steer it.
I think it would be awesome to make one of these but a two seater. And instead of dealing with the complicated engine ya'll are dealing with, use like an old Ford inline 6 with a regular standard transmission. Maybe not making incredible power, but it's gonna be reliable, and sound amazing. Could possible add in 4x4. Who knows?
If it's possible, I think raising the ride height would help a lot. It looks pretty low to ground and it is definitely not helping all of the camber it has. A few little things and it'll be mint!
Yep one or two degrees of camber max and two degrees of toe in would make it handle sharper, and boys that thing is fast so add a three or five point harness, remember that the upper belts should be more or less straight back so an extra bar will need to be welded in in front of the gas tank don't get the ones that need eyes welded to the frame, better as the eyes could pull off in a hard impact, and maybe window nets to keep your arms in when it roll's over, and an emergency cut off would be good.
Absolutely awesome vid guys. Also Unless your on pavement then you’ll nvr ever ever be able to load your “Cush drive” like it would in a bike on the road. Bike weighs 600-800 lbs maybe more plus 2 riders at 350lbs on pavement giving it all the torc it has. You’ll not be able to replicate that kind of load seeing you’ll nvr have full traction like the bike would. If you put slicks on it and can launch with enough traction to lift front tires and able to bang gears with front tires in air then you’ll be replicating the load as it was in a bike with 2 riders on it. Your good guys in history of bike engine on go cart the engine has nvr ever been the weak link. Unless you start with a sloppy output sprocket.
Just finished putting together the vintage go cart from go power sports she is a ripper. Thanks guys for sending me there way and I let them know you all sent me
One big jump and you guys are going to compress your spine on those bars above your head, might pay to move them or add some padding to them at least. Helmet will only protect you so much, neck brace is needed.
Could you add some sort of time delay shut-off for the fan so the engine doesn't bake for minutes after you turn it off? seems like it might save some wear and tear on the engine after being driven so hard.
Also all street bikes have a Cush drive it’s just usually in the rear rim and looks pretty much the same as your bmw one but yours is engine/drive line mounted and most other bikes are rear rim mounted. But nvr the less they do same thing. And pretty much are built the same as well. I see it being no more issue then any other bike as all bikes have the Cush drive. Untill you hear a metallic clack there good and new bushings around 50$ depending for most rear wheel mounted Cush drive rubbers prolly not much more for your set up . Just wanted to share that wit y’all.
I think the transmission may have failed because the engine output shaft and the diff input shaft aren't perfectly parallel, this causes vibrations. When the wheelspeed would be constant the gears would hammer on each other a bit.
Guys I've been watching your channel grow for years. Love your projects, love your partnerships/collaborations, but... I can NOT stand your intern. I honestly cringe every time he speaks to Ike. Ike you're a more patient man than I.
They always get toe, caster, and camber mixed up and as a ‘ causal drifter for fun ‘ it pisses me off ngll😂😂 still one of my favorite creative automotive channels tho..
Find a rear axle out of any Jeep with a Dana 18 transfer case they have a passenger offset center section and would straiten out your driveshaft angle drastically
I hope you all enjoy this episode on Memorial Day. My grandfather was in the service, WWII. Wish I could have known him better. Let's take a minute to be appreciative of those that have served this fine country 🇺🇸
My poppop served in WW2 as well and my grandpa on my fathers side served in Vietnam.
My great(3x) grandaddy served for the Confederates in the Civil War! But he didn't die just a fun fact:)
My great great grandfather was in WW1 and on my moms said they were all in the army same as my mom
my father served in VietNam so this day is a good day for me hes still here gonna go mow his lawn today and hang out with him!
Oh yeah
My favorite part of the vid was a quote....." why ride tomorrow when you can ride today" Thanks for another fun video
Because its raining outside 😕 has been like all month. I just about got my carburetor figured out and I'm hitting 35 mph.
It's back and ready to rip... for now!
Take that thing to a track.
Yay
Now make an airplane
I thought the title "Rivival + RIP" meant that you brought it back then immediately destroyed it again lmao
I thought the same damn thing. Hahaha
Me too 😅

Ike, make a linkage on the shift "stem", and hook up a ratchet shifter with a CABLE. You got tons of hot rod parts in your shop.

I love the trophy truck..its my favourite. I'm all the way in Africa in a country named Botswana.
I totally agree
Favorite build. An alignment and some more caster would do it good.
Split that shifter up with some linkages - that's too much leverage and weight flapping around off that little shifter shaft.
Agree 100%
Yea, find the linkage at the wreckers ..the "rear sets" off an older 600R or 1000R have great rod ends and adjustable shafts. ..should do nicely.

What about an oil change 😂😂
What about transmission fluid?
@@michaelleblanc3363 What about a window motor!

You could make a foot shifter, right next to the gas pedal. It's good to lift off the gas to shift anyway.
Gotta love the TK....
Hey I may have missed this part of the build but..... how about a hand clutch on the shifter???? It'll be fine.
Dip a zip tie into the transmission fill hole it should give you a good idea about the fuild level.
I really feel like you guys sholud take the time and make a proper linkage shifter for this thing so you can confidently power shift it. They do NOT like unsure shifts or that much weight on the shift shaft and may have had something to do with the failure of the last one.
And in stock set up it's a fairly long lift when shifting. They like a smooth change.
I think you guys should put KC lights on top. That way you can drive it at night.

I love the classic coke logo!!! All the 90s soda bottles where DOPE!!!!!!!

front end needs to be higher, to fix the camber issue
Will you guys be going to the drag strip soon? I always loved those videos
I just wanna say you guys are the best. Just dudes having FUN. You guys make my day every time y'all post a video.
I was so ready for the trophy cart to be back love this video
The throw on that shifter is nearly that of an 18 wheeler
If you need to engine/trans swap it, two different drive shaft driven motorcycle engines that I can think of are a cx500, or a Honda goldwing. Other wise it's a fantastic build
At 8:43 John says transmission after calling it a gearbox all day.
You guys are the only ones to pull off a dashboard shifter ala Covrair.
Right on brothers that was pretty clever clutch then break
Best way to describe the trophy cart, that thing is badass!

I think the trophy kart would be a blast in sand. Paddle rear tires and “sand rudder” tires on the front.
Never can understand how you guys can build such cool karts but never get the camber right!
glad you guys are upgrading your channel/shop/other stuff things and stuff!
Got to give you guys credit you absolutely rip your stuff!! Its funny to see someone else drive your builds

Line up all projects in order of build so we can reflect .
Try a Miata set up on the front of it like you guys did on the cross cart for a bit of a stiffer suspension
That paint is awesome!
Definitely looks like it could use some more weight over the rear axle, but it rips!

i had an idea on how to fix the long throw on the shifter if u move the pivot point on the on the arm up it will make the throw shorter
