Moved my family to the Upper Peninsula 3yrs ago. Northern Michigan sounds nice. Drove straight through it. Da U.P. Is like no other. It’s another world up here.
Harbor Springs native here. It's my favorite "northern" Michigan town too 😊. My mother's family goes back almost 200 years in the area long before it was incorporated. I have lived in the U.P. as well, so I view it more accurately as being northwest lower Michigan not just simply northern Michigan.
@@janetpartyka5968 No doubt the following: Crowds, insurance issues/costs, crime, future reduction in property values, excessive heat/humidity, bugs, storms, social issues
When you are in Harbor Springs check out Bar Harbor for their cheeseburgers/fries - 100 State St, Harbor Springs, MI. It is our go to place in Harbor Springs.
Truly does depend on what you like when you go to Northern Michigan. I used to like the towns of Petoskey and Harbor Springs and Charlevoix, , but they’re all growing so much, just like Traverse City is way too big, too much commercialization and horrible traffic jams at times which frankly is miserable. When I think northern Michigan, I prefer something more rural , pristine quieter lakes and not so crowded. It seems like everybody moving into these areas are basically duplicating what they’re running away from. They are nice to visit, but I can’t stand the traffic and the crowded restaurants. I seek something more peaceful. We bought a place on a beautiful 100 acre clean lake near Lewiston Michigan and just love it, much quieter ,all the convenience we need but it’s certainly not overrun with commercialization. And the real estate is much more affordable.
@@livinginnorthernmichigan thank you, I agree totally actually those are the times or in early June ( winter also) that we drive over from our place in Lewiston, to go there because we do love those areas. They’re so beautiful and it’s just so much quieter and enjoyable.
You are true trolls, you are not up north until you cross the Big Mac bridge. Until you get to Mackinaw City you still are in Mid-dle Michigan. St. Ignace, Sault Ste. Marie and Newberry are my three favorite places to visit.
It's a great little town. The town seems to be doing well after the EJ Iron Works factory moved. When driving through town I love stopping into Iron Goat Coffee.
@@livinginnorthernmichigan When I went to collage at WMU almost all of the Michigan students did not know the Upper Peninsula is part of Michigan. Interview some people in the southern most part of the state and ask them what is on the other side of the big mac. Everyone in Wisconsin knows the U P is Michigan.
I prefer the northeastern lower myself. The U.P as well. You have to be rich to live on the west side. Alot of people with their noses in the air and sweaters tied around their necks. Also way to crowded.
I wouldn't put any of those towns in my top ten, and I've been to them all many times, when I worked in the area. I guess if you are from Traverse City and don't want to drive too far, they are nice enough. Those town are Convenient and that's what really makes them "Nice" for people who live in the area, they aren't really NICE enough to visit, not if you live anywhere else in the North, because there will be nicer places closer to you that are not nearly so overcrowded. This must be a list for people who don't want to drive far from Traverse City and who don't mind a lot of traffic and crowds.
northern mmichigan??? none of those towns are notrhern michigan you gotta cross the big mac to be in northern michigan. i guess some people think anything north of detroit is northern

We love it up there. Headed to Camp Paradise on the Tahquamenon River. So peaceful and quiet.
Manistique on Lake Michigan
So really this should be titled three favorite towns in Northwest Michigan.
East coast gets no love

Places we like to go, Glen Arbor/Leland, Mackinac Island, Cedarville/Hessel.
Love all those towns. Cedarville is a favorite!
Getting ready to leave Florida after 52 years i am considering the UP I lived in Charlevoix in 1973 to expensive for me now.
Why are you leaving Florida?

Northern lower Michigan
Yes. I like this definition. Coming soon we are interviewing people on the street to see what they consider "Northern Michigan".

I love Bob's place. I take my parents to dinner every mother's day.
Good idea! Maybe we will do that this Sunday.
Glad my town wasn’t mentioned…soooooo crowded in the summer as it is😤

When will Yoopers and Trolls start getting along with one another?😀
Anywhere that has access to Toski Sands Market is where you want to be!
Local fish and the best whitefish dip around!
My fav is Cooked Lake Conway Mi lol
Conway is great! We just stopped at the artesian fountain today before school. As a little kid we would go to Willinda's party store to get candy.
My favorite is Leland
Alanson 😳 lol
I get it, but I have some great memories as a kid going there with my grandparents :)
Sleeper East Jordon
@livinginnorthernmichigan I'll be eating at Bob's place sometime this week. I knew Randy, who used to own Bob's Place. Good prime rib for the price!
A bunch of Trolls that live below the Bridge .
These town don’t represent the best of Northern Michigan, unless you like lots of people and expensive living.

That's the UP. Northern Michigan is from Standish to Mackinaw
@@wishinifishin5172ya. I’ve always thought either US 10 or M61 and north is northern Michigan
No across Big Mac is the UP, not Northern Michigan‼️🌅
