Hahaha, I laughed when you mentioned the belt and suspender combination. It's definitely overkill in most situations, but I could see it being useful for jobs when you need to hang a lot of tools from your belt and would like the extra support from the suspenders. We used something like that in the Marine Corps. They called it a load bearing vest.
