It's also strange that the moment you mention that they're not named Theresa but Civilight Eterna, a collectable you can get in IS, the crown you see on Amiya and Theresac, a crown we know holds importance to the story, especially in the Babel event, one of their argument is that it's Theresa using a codename like every operators of Rhodes Island. But they forgot that some operators use their own name as codenames. Even Amiya is just Amiya. I'd go as far to say Kal'tsit is still Kal'tsit and the three letter name is the codename.
And also the Chinese code name 魔王, we know that it was given to Amiya, but now it becomes the code name of ‘Theresa’, and further Lowlight questioned whether she’s the real Theresa in the live stream and ask players to find out in the story. So apparently she’s not a simple existence of Theresa come to live.
Civilight eterna is store memories of the previous owner in this case theresa i assume that amiya in ch 14 will use the power of kings of sarkaz crown to become a medic and in the process of this she also Awaken the memories of civilight eterna and then civilight eterna take physical body of Theresa
Playable Theresa actually is not a Theresa but a literally Civilight Eterna, crown of sarkaz that is projecting herself as Theresa (Source: sprites and description from CN posts).
Exactly, if you look at her base animation, you can literally see her flickering. And as you said she is called “Civilight Eterna”, which is the name of the crown of Sarkaz that Amiya posses
Also, the tone of her JP voice is significantly different from the actual Theresa and sounds more artificial (props to the voice-acting), signifying it is just a reanimation of the previous bearer of the crown.
Also, even before the 5th anniv announcement I saw some people changing their mind about playable Theresa after the release of Babel event. The lore drop actually makes playable Theresa kinda more reasonable
Funnily enough I've seen nothing but positivity towards the anniversary event and myself I find it fitting because W is very important to the story (this anniversary being a story chapter as well) My guess when people get angry at Walter, it's because it's another hype character they have to summon on and can't skip like if it was a new character they don't care about I love both original and alter characters and I'm happy about all the changes, yet to see anyone be negative about 5th anni
people have problems with both versions of this character being limited, a reasonable position. personally, my only problem is that i think her outfit looks horrendous lmao, the outfit she's wearing in chapters 10-13 look way better, arknights art direction has been straying away from the tacticool designs that drew people into the game. people are overall positive about the anniversary but doesnt mean there isnt any valid criticism.
Thing is, it doesn't help when the event before this are the R6s Collab and Sui event. Two limited close to each other, and then not even for a long break Anniversary. It's way too many banner to pull for a casual or even dolphin player that most likely won't get all the shiny new limited character

I'm kinda used to the doomposting whenever an event like this comes and I just ignore them since the way they see things like this are more only on the surface level, they see a character they don't like, they immediately hate it. When the majority of the community doesn't even read the story, they usually gloss over the reasoning why the character gets such treatment. All they like to see is free stuff being spoon fed to them directly, without giving any actual support to the developers. And as for Theresa being playable, the way I see it is that, she is not the Theresa we know from Babel, but the Manifestation of the Civilight Eterna aka the Black Crown, the crown has the power to record the memories of previous Lord of Fiends, and Theresa being the previous king, it probably took her appearance and memories along with it. I don't know, but I'm kinda excited to see it.
Yeah, I mean this really felt different from chalter case. But tbh...most every gacha game, have the alter version of the original so I dont think this really alien situation. This Walter has one of the most solid reason to have an alter...cuz W is kinda a character who make the whole AK story what it is right know. She even haved the most earliest concept design before lowlight establish Hypergryph while he was in developing girls frontline.
Try playing FGO, we're keep getting alter and alter from either main story or event. They're either have a good kit or bad kit. People keep complaining and honestly it's annoying they didn't appreciate the gift from the developers for us especially the free not Theresa😑.

Arknights has always been about the story. W's arc has been building up to a change in demeanor like this since forever. Theresa (besides already literally being physically present in the Victoria story since chapter 10, so I don't know why people are saying they're going to revive the incinerated ashes of FN), probably isn't even Theresa hence her name being that of the crown. It's all about the story, and releasing characters to complement it.
Why then story is unvoiced with the same background music. Also, if you skip the story first just to beat ch. and read later you can't track what you read/where you left the story.

I only see clear improvements in the numbers and quality of skins Hypergryph is pushing xD The rest is "do it yourself" - count pity on a banner, click daily base, burn stamina waiting for the same chapter resource run to finish itself 1000+ times with the same setup, and remember where you read the story last time xD We still don't have 24-hour energy storage and any storage for excess energy.. Also, remember you need even to earn energy storage we have with account level and a fresh account starts with 8h, 80 energy storage? Idk, more friends and more skins with limited operators seem like the way to go since everybody likes anniversary xD

For me, who have started playing 2 weeks ago and really want old limited operators like Nian and W, the 200 tokens needed instead of 300 is really a saver, this kind of solves almost every anxiety of mine towards the game 🙏
Seriously it's more of a non-issue issues that Global players are making... I was so confused as well how some people reacted to the announcements as well... Like for what reason are you so upset about W getting an alter? It's not like they reused assets/artworks to make the design they even iterated on the design from ch. 10, not only that they also still add additional story/lore for the character that gets an alter. We literally have more than 200 unique operators, I'd say we don't have enough alters that are lower rarity that needs more expansion for their lore/story. As for Theresa it's also another non-issue it's clear that her body has already been resurrected already, I guess maybe it's a weird decision to make her an operator(but it's acceptable depending on how they deliver on the story) but it's already clear that it is not Theresa though but something related to the Sarkaz Crown.
My problem is not to get alters in general. Same event features Fang alter which i love. But W had no reason to get an alter, her new theme song literally states that she hasn't changed why an alter then?

That line on the lyrics meant her personality didn't change but she clearly grew as a character. Have you not watched that short animated clip? My only issue with Wis'adel is that she's too much of a powercreep in gameplay but that doesn't take away her validity to have an alter.

Fang alter is an absolute must have for me. Prominent in story? Misery, Closure I want at some point all EO playable and if you remember end of chapter 13 we got confirmation that blaze is ready for takeoff from landship which could also include other EO if HG wanted to write that
@@torstwolf8742 - Like I said it's her personality(How she think and acts) that don't change, that doesn't mean that everything about her doesn't. - You need to take to consideration that Babel was the event that realeased before Ch.14 many of the EO aren't related to Babel that well, the only one you mentioned that could have had a chance to get one was Closure.
The funny thing is, HG never forces ppl to pull, and they even give free pulls EVERY limited! They keep cooking and feeding us, which is why we get a DunMesh collab! We even get new languages for old characters every update and modules, which is more than any other gacha game!
I like the older limited going down to 200 is great, and is really nice in terms of viability. The main problem I think is that it feels like this is way too late. If this was maybe 2 or 3 years after each operator, that would be fine, but to have to wait 5 years for the character to get decreased is crazy.

i am totally celebrating what HG give to us in 5th anniv stream. and even IF i want to critic something, i must make sure to experience it myself first, thats my rule. so yeah, can not wait to experience this patch at global later.
I love and agree with that mentality, we don't even HAVE the story of chapter 14 on CN yet, so how can people sit there and claim that W alter is not story relevant, or that Theresa is non-canon. Like, just wait until the story is out and readable, typically, to the surprise of some it seems, the story that releases alongside new 6 star ops is related to the 6 star ops.
I just think making a limited alter of a limited character is scummy, especially when none of the other limited ops need an alter. I think making WAlter as a non-limited op just makes more sense. The version iffy on alliances and that debuts close to the time of being a villain, and the fully aligned version that has stuck with Rhodes is a normal pullable operator. It just makes sense.
If HG really lower the spark requirement under community pressure, they are going to find other ways to get their revenue back, and it's not necessarily nicer than what we have now. Just look at what happened in CN's 2nd and 3rd summer event: the community rioted for a new banner on a rerun sidestory (Thorn's w/ Heart of Surging Flames rerun) and made HG promise no more new banners for reruns, and what did they do next year? They dropped a freaking limited banner out of nowhere, and despite all the rioting, maintained the summer limited banner in the years after. I'm not saying we should be on the side of the companies and empathise with them, but players should always keep in mind that companies are making games to make money, and any community requests getting in their way of making money would be either ignored or bypassed through another means.
So 2 things: 1. As a F2P player I can accumulate roughly 380 pulls per 6 months. Ex: I saved since Muelsyse and spent about 80 pulls on Typhon and 300 on Virtuosa banner just now. (And 30 pulls on Jessica banner because I just couldn't wait, and got Eunectus.) And Like as a F2P player I want to try to get almost every op in the game (Which I have about 250 ops. 48 of them being 6* +1 because I'm sparking Tex. Alt tomarrow.) And the best part is when pulling 300 times (I've done only twice) is that I get 38 pulls back because of distinction cert. (I got 360 certs this banner so far, 270 pulls in. But then again I have insane luck.) But like it's easy to accumulate a sh** ton of pulls if you just wait. 6 months is long enough for a F2P player to get 300 to spark. 2. I was kinda upset at how much dmg W alt was doing and thought that it would ruin a lot of squad comps or stuff like that. But a few minutes ago I realized.. How often do I use Ch'en Alt? Never. How often do I use Sutr? Never. How often do I use Myłnar? Almost never. How often do I use any support unit? Rarely unless it's IS or DOS or CC because of Auto deploy and I need to farm stages. And even in these events the only support units that I use are Pozë and Texas Alt. (Which is why I chose to spark. To use her in IS.) The thing is I almost never use these units because I don't need to. I already have a good squad comp. And since I got Exusaia since I started playing 2 years ago I have NEVER not used her unless I'm using a guide or am trying to clear a stage in a unique way. But she is my primary physical dmg dealer. Here is my current Squad comp. - Muelsyse - Gavail Alt. - Exusiai - Typhon - Kal'tsit - Irene - Yato Alt - Eyja Alt - Saileach - Horn - Golden Glow - Mountain I know that half of these units are limited ops. So after realizing that I never use these Op Ops anyways unless I physically Have them in my hand. I'll never use them as support anyway. That is my long oppinion on this topice. Thank you.
Logos and Wisadel banner completely changes how I look at every other banner and my mastery/module plans for the coming months. First of all Logos is a must have, he is literally my most desired NPC jailbreak together with Ulpianus. I thought Ascalon was a must have for lore reasons, but compared to Logos she isn't important to me. Second of all, Logos seems like he will be insanely powerful even though we don't have his numbers yet. We all know that casters needed a little push to compete with physical damage again, Logos may be that caster. Let's cope together! Third of all, the insane performance Wisadel displayed on Patriot is a good bonus alongside Logos that also trivialises many other operators that I wanted to get initially, which literally means I can save more pulls for the Logos banner in particular. The only thing that feels bad is that I already regret maxing out Typhon, and this feels like adding salt to the injury.
I’ve seen people upset about limited alter of a limited, I just think it’s kinda funny. Civilight Eterna too, but it makes sense, and it’s Not Theresa herself. I’m overall Very Happy with every addition/change. Also the limited banner change is very nice, but I’m talking as a player who’s been willing to save for half a year to 300 anyway.
As a global player, I’m looking ahead 6 months with 3-4 limited banners in short succession and events that I’ll have to skip to recoup orundum. I’m glad to see Hypergryph lowering the cost to spark some units (on the most recent limited CN banner), but I’m still anticipating an expensive series of banners. For me, it’s still saving 240 pulls for R6S collabs, and another 200 or 300 pulls to be safe on the other two banners. 6 months of grinding 1-7 😅
I don’t get the whole “milking the fans out of their money” with W Alter. Did these people forget that this is the same Hypergryph that willingly chooses not to sell banger skins when they know they can make a profit out of it?

I got this game in like 2020, and started playing seriously end of 2023, but "Let them cook" is something I've been saying a lot. The story, gameplay mechanics, stages, etc. is something I look at, ruminate for a second, then go "Aight, cook." and they have delivered. (This coming from someone who has just gotten to chapter 5)
Even as a completionist, I am happy for W-alter because I see Limited Ops as a new unit I can play with and I can read how the character I liked before have moved forward in their story.
Hypergryph literally giving up on A LOT OF money and spend a lot of just to bring all this stuff into Arknights. All about 5th Anniversary is literally the gift not only to AK players, but to Arknights in general. W looks hot and that`s not a bad thing. Theresa is playable? Neat. Its not her, its just crown? Whatever, let me have seggs with it. 200 pulls for spark old limited? HELL YEAH, I really wanted OG W because I started playing AK only in 11.11.2022, but there`s just so many better units that I didn't risk to go for her but now Im willing to for 200. And we gonna have even crazier content in the future judging by Arc 3 concept trailers in the end of the stream. People who cry about those just crybabies that have nothing in their life so they are getting mad at everything just to feel something. Those people usually scream at people on the street, mad at white straight men for their existence, mad at sexualizing women characters in videogame and don't take a shower in real life. 11:05 I remember providing a suggestion for having old Limited Operators decrease by 50 sparks after the second time they appear in the shop and that they can cap at 150 at the lowest when it's old enough. I was actually surprised that they went with just reducing old limited operator (W, Rosmontis, and Nian) by 100 sparks. I wonder if when the next batch of limited operators reduce to 200 pulls as well (such as Dusk, Skadi-Alter, etc.), would they reduce W, Rosmontis, and Nian even further or will they keep at 200?
I think they reduce the spark o these units when they become 4 years old....which is better then nothing But not that great. especially whenin 4 years most units tend to be powercrept and or are irrelevant. and still 200 pulls is still a lot for what essentially is a useless unit.

In my opinion the people who are against the news are those who either don't understand the story/W/"Theresa" as well as they think they do, feel like they're obligated to get Walter because they have the original or "old W trash, need Walter for muh meta. Thye just made W again but betta, hygrpgh attacking my orundum!". The only time I will believe that HyperGlyph is fishing for money is if they suddenly make Frostnova, Patriot, Faust, Mephisto, etc playable as much as it sucks to never have her.
I mean they did like an Alter break after Jessica Alter and gave us OG ones like Hoederer, Virtuosa, Viviana, Lessing, Degenbrecher, Ray, Shu, Zuo Lee, and Ascalon so if they want to give us an Alter again I think it's pretty much acceptable...
This, they already give around more or less 30 new character and we only got 4 alter last time before W. The fact that people still complaining and calling HG out of idea is really weird.
The only bad thing I took from this livestream is that this is the first limited alter of an originally already limited character. That and their sniper archetype just practically consists of just her and rosmontis, both limited operators.

My only concern with W Alter is that how the game would start being balanced keeping these units in mind. Not super concerned considering all that has happened so far with Surtr and Chen Alter, but there has been slight balancing updates that one could feel that happened, especially with Surtr. Think they have handled it pretty fine because they have spaced these powercreeps fairly fine. If they do start releasing units like this back to back, then it could be an issue. Granted the veterans probably want harder content to use their units on. Then I see from the last event we had with DOS S-3 where it seemed like everyone mostly used the same comp to clear it and if there was changes, they may have swapped a unit or 2. I think they should try to balance the endgame out a bit more so it doesn't feel like people are pigeonholed into using the same comps.
I had no complaints about the livestream whatsoever, HG is being very generous and I don't think people objectively judged them maybe because they might have been abused by other gachas before lol and the Alter argument specifically, are we forgetting how Mihoyo used the same characters across 3 games ? lol overall I'm very excited... my biggest problem with W alter is that it is a limited alter of an already limited operator. W alter also just seems absurd with her DPH actually being game warping. mlynar existing already has caused so many mobs to just have 1000-1500 defense because they straight up need it VS broken ops like him. I also think it is an alter fatigue thing I didn't really feel it about a year ago when people complained about it but it feels like every banner has one. I am 99% sure theresa is the free unit because of her lore significance they want everyone to have her. I am not exactly mad I am scared about the future of the game both banner ops are completely broken and I am starting to get sick of every limited banner having an alter on it.
Personally I enjoy all the alter's as long as there's a good story reason for their existence. The one character I desperately hope gets an 6* Alter is Amiya, I'm honestly surprised she hasn't gotten one yet since she's the the mascot of the game
Good Video! As a story nerd who reads everything, I am purely hyped for W alter and Theresa. And on that point, Theresa's unit being named Civilight Eterna and not Theresa has some huge implications which makes the "oh she's resurrected that's dum" argument hold even less water. Not even mentioning that Theresa being back in some form has been known all the way back since the end of CHAPTER 8 already.
There are definitely some problems raised from the livestreams but overall they will not impact the game negatively to most people. The only one I do agree with is that it was low of them to release such an important character as a limited, while they already had a limited, and made her the same class. It was just uncreative and a cash grab and shouldn’t be repeated. I would also like to say when someone has a complaint and the first point of defense is “well other gachas do it” or “look at these gachas” that a God awful defense. The point of complaining isn’t to complain but to make sure Arknights never becomes like those other gachas cuz it is such a fun, creative, and generous game.
As a FGO player, people complaining about the banner decisions here are crazy when we have a new limited banner every week, a 1% chance to get a max rarity unit instead of a 2% chance, no soft pity, and a hard pity that's so high it might as well be nonexistent.
My issue with W alter is that her original is already limited like. all the other alters have a standard counterpart that you can use. but W is not only a 6*, but is already limited for such a significant character, I feel like maybe she shouldn't be so limited?? probably just me tho trying to spend as little as possible while still having fun as I don't have the funds to save up for a full 300 pulls oh well
To be honest having two limited versions of the same character is a bit disappointing. They also made her balans. I would be okay if Logos was the limited unit.
@@mantruong9612 Why not? Why would it be weird? I don't see any problem with that. It's actually more acceptable. Ch'en, Skadi, Eyja, and Texas all have both regular and limited versions. It doesn't matter whether the regular or the limited version comes first. Two limited versions of the same character is just unpleasant, at least for me.

Not every alter has to be standard, sure, but having a character be double limited just makes her so much less accessible for many people and generally comes off as a dick move
I'm not sure if the guaranteed Walter at 300 is exclusive to her banner, or if they'll do that for all limiteds going forward. It would be a nice change if you could be guaranteed the limited at 300. Like you said, most of us aren't that unlucky, but I've had two friends now pull on a limited banner with the goal of sparking an old limited, not get the *current* limited in all 300 pulls, so they turn around and use their spark on the current limited. Happened to my friends on Texalter and Eyjaberry banners. Massively unlucky for them for sure but it sucks they saved so much with the goal of sparking someone in particular while getting the so-called rate up limited, then had to forgo their goal.
200 pulls to spark does not make a difference if you're just collecting them. Both Rosmo and W are underwhelming nowadays, Nian can be useful but i don't see the reason to spark her unless you plan on skipping Shu Banner. If anything, i just want my Ulpianus from the recent abyssal hunter event leak
Tbh i like 6 stars that’s around Rosmontis and W level, they don’t demolish stage design as hard as the other 6 stars, they still do tho. If Walter can do what i saw she can do, what even is the point of strategy if she can just 3-shots Patriot so easy like that? The power gap between 5* to 6* and low tier 6* to high tier 6* is just so massive.
Nian stocks actually went up with Shu's release since you need the whole fam to proc her SP gen talent, but Rosmo and orig W are whatever, doesn't really matter. Also same I would've been hyped as all hell if Theresa was the limited with Logos (at least we would be sure that such a lore-important character would be strong as a modern limited unit), but instead it's dear old W, with the same old pyromania and explosion loving personality with atrocious design (imo). in chapter 10, we established in the story that there is a version of theresa walking around. There are multiple screnes of her. Idk why ppl say she is dead and cant join us. It's funny that the ppl who complaint about theresa use lore reason but dont read the stories or just forget it.
I don't get the drama. We have so many sci-fi and fantastical concepts in Arknights. Why is resurrection, as one such concept, the proverbial line in the sand the community will not cross? I get that it may devalue the 'death' of a character but in the moment itself, that death meant something. And it's currently also not an abused concept. This is the first time a character has been brought back from dead in AK. It's not like Theresa just died and was immediately brought back either... If that even is Theresa, giving her current name as an operator in the game. She very well could be some Sarkaz summon or manifestation from the crown, which is a relic in the lore, that simply resembles Theresa. As for death it self; there is a huge difference between story and gameplay. Just because a character died in the story, doesn't mean a playable kit featuring them shouldn't exist in the game. If they released an event where say Bagpipe dies, does that mean her character in game should be deleted from our accounts? No. It simply means her character wouldn't appear in stories moving forward from her death. Except if she is referenced by others or appears in flashbacks or events set in the past, when she was still alive and present for said story.
I'm happy with the change to the limited banners as a person who's had unlucky cursed pulls. I haven't seen backlash only a good response but I don't think the backlash makes sense considering us global players have the power of foresight so saving for what you want is so easy.
My biggest complaint about this anni is that Walter is simply the 3rd sniper in a row with shit ton of damage and basically nothing more except the rng perma camo, it really gets old. @@blitz85 Flingers have pretty well specialization even if their damage is lacking. Rosmo niche with her S3 for ranged only clears is still unparalleled and her S2 AoE stun with module is one of the most consistent in the game. Same with greyy alter, with module his S2 slow has the best uptime in the game and he sees consistent play for 5 stars only clears due to that. The palicos are among the best DPS for 3 stars and lower if you care about those rarities.
@@blitz85 like I said, flingers aren't bad, they're specialized. Rosmo never had good damage but really good utility, she's been consistently used because she's the only sniper able to deploy bodies on the field and have a consistent AoE stun. Obviously those things don't matter for general squads where you can just delete everything from existence but the option is there, and that's what counts. Walter doesn't close any gap, more like the other way around, she's opened another one by being the new big damage operator without any drawbacks that must be surpassed, and that isn't healthy for any game.
Have a safe flight and a fun trip! The only problem that I have with W Alter is I'd say her design I'd prefer her to have the same clothes as she does right now in the story, or maybe the shoulder blades are a bit to much for me.

I literally showed Mili song to my friend who only plays Limbus company and left AK years ago and then I said It's OUR Mili NOW!
I agree with all the points you made boss, Let the cook! I have lost my pulls to 300 several times as well and when I heard about them 200 degrade for older unit characters, this is honestly a blessing to be honest. In terms of a business stand point it makes total sense for them to be cheaper to get for players to have. My next point is also on alters, imo I do love alters cause we get characters that have been left behind like Skadi and Chen and many others and now that they make a come back is amazing to me. The reason I say this is for example in Genshin impact we have Diluc, when he was first released people were going crazy about him and now in the present time people are calling his design trash and hoping for a revamp like the fontaine characters and how his burst and ultimate are far lacking compared to the other new units. Essentially being left behind and the gacha game companies cant remake them from my understanding (please correct me if im wrong), but if they change how a character works specifically the ones you pull for the companies can be sued and such and there is a lot of problems with that. This is essentially a way for older characters to be revived and get the love they once had imo. Like for example when Jessica was brought back I completely forgot a lot about her until her alter came back and now its a blessing to play her and remember the character and getting the shine she has just like Skadi and such. These are just my points.
I just hope they downgrade older limited characters to non-limited. OG W would've been the best one to downgrade since her alter is also limited meaning the old one would have much less hype around it and should be made more available.
You know what, I'm just glad that Logos isn't the limited one because I have been waiting for him ever since I read Mudrock's story on that one mini event (I forgot the name). I have also accepted Theresa becoming playable (I have this headcanon where she's just like Kikyo in Yashahime: that it's the crown being playable and it just took on the form of Theresa) and for Walter, after watching The Dagger's Inheritors and from what I can recall from the main story, I also started to accept her alter. I have not read DM and have yet to read Babel but I know enough that her alter is justified. Also, this is my 1st gacha game and I didn't even complain about the 300 pulls . It just traumatized me during my pulls on Texas Alter where I only got a single copy after 314 pulls. That guaranted 300 pulls and the spark lowered to 200 for 4-year-old limited ops are heaven-sent for me. This means I can just wait for Chapter 14 to spark W and onwards, I can just save 200 pulls instead of 300 to spark the past limited ops I want. I only have Spalter, Texalter, Ling and Skalter so it means I have a lot of saving to do to spark for W, Rosmontis, Chalter, Eyjaberry, Nian, and Chong.

Some people have already figured out that the THERESA we know is not the actual playable unit, but rather the Crown called Civilight Eterna using THERESA as a frame, that's already understood and its free anyways so no more crying in that regard right? So I guess that leaves us with W, or Wis'Adel in this case, since I don't think anyone is that mad with sogoL and his kit. A Limited unit that also got released as a Limited Unit again but with a different name, I'm pretty sure from that alone, anyone could get the gripe of SOME people (emphasis cause its kinda important). But then again we ask, why exactly W? Did they chose W solely due to the fact how heavily intertwined she is to the existence that is called Theresia? How her Arc literally started at DM and somehow the devs decided that this chapter is the perfect conclusion to her character arc seeing that the last 2 Episodes was about 2 of what she would consider closest allies, Ines & Hoederer? How one of Theresia's wish for her was literally to find her own name, hence its not W, its Wis'Adel? There's a lot of games out there that would casually do alter for reasons such as "JUST BECAUSE: It's Christmas, It's Halloween, she's suddenly Dark, Happy Thanksgiving, etc", whereas Arknights AT THE VERY LEAST (emphasis cause Ch'en Alter exists, which even I don't know how to defend), tries to find meaning as to why a character has reached the end of their arc and has came out of the other side completely changed, an ALTER. Now, in regards to how broken she is. Vets aside, I wholeheartedly welcome broken characters not because they trivialize stages for us Veterans, but it helps NEWBIES start strong and enthusiastic when it comes to clearing majority of the content, cause for the love of god, not generalizing here but, not everyone's capable when it comes to strategizing. Pretty sure on the side of the veterans, you'd still get people scratching their head whenever they've hit a wall on the stages since its obviously hard to identify sometimes why you'd fail in the first place. Hence they can take this toy and go to town with it, while we can still just appreciate the toys we've all known and loved. Now I'm not invalidating the FOMO for some people, that definitely is a valid problem to look into, cause even I, as of this point in global, am still missing both W, Eyjalt, and Virtousa. The difference is I'm quite patient, and that's not a trait everyone possess hence this problem alone I don't have an answer for. I'm quite optimistic at the very least since with the new CN update, 300th pull, you get the Limited unit and you don't have to lose points for it, and on top of that, OLD Limited units have been reduced to 200 points rotation based, so that is a step into slowly getting everyone the Limited units that they've missed. We're in the 5th year, and the last time that I've experienced this with a certain game, the hype was already dead for me, I've seen everything it had to offer, and I'm pretty confident it can't really surprise me anymore. Arknights so far has done a pretty decent job of setting things up, there's definitely more to come, and with the previous stuff they've done with the engine they're working with to cook up fun mini-games, I can only patiently look forward for more.
Really liked this anni and new W makes me happy and makes sense as she is nearing a breaking point in character development in ch 13. Bummer she's still limited but I don't mind it enought to complain.
it might be reaching for others, but for me W getting alter is like lowlight finally closing the part of the story that HG as a team had cook from the start, W supposedly a lowlight OC for his previous work in Girls' Frontline (GFL) gacha game when he is still in Mica Team/Sunborn, she is in the concept art of the AR team (the protagonist of the story) and even the commander art is similliar with how our dokutah (with mask hoodie thing) in AK, even in AK ppl link her gun with MK18 that would fit enough with the line of gun that the AR team have in GFL (others being M4A1, ST AR-15, M16A1, and M4 SOPMOD II), through the years W seems to be lowlight or HG golden child with a lot of official art, collab and even Ambience Synesthesia 2023 feature W as the the poster girl and with this alter, W become WisAdel and have implication a significant meaning for the story, for the sarkaz, for kazdel, WisAdel signature weapon for her gun and bomb, now bacome futuristic alien kind of gun and dagger, and HG make sure the dagger have big significant, she hold it in her art, her chibi hold the dagger, even her short animation "The Daggers' Inheritors" show her CQC with her dagger and her Arts to make things explode, it doesn't show her gun anymore even with the concept art, so far we only have 3, that come out just before the game realese and now at the end of 5th anniv livestream we shown the 4th concept art with a lot of things that we don't know yet, so i excited for what the future come, from more matue and experienced HG through the years they doing this story
the Frostnova one was kind of weird. like if i remember correctly. She's dead dead, like the body is burnt to ashes or how infected die. Theresa is dead, just the crown taking her shape and appearance. Like in halo with Cortana and Dr Halsey. I can see why ppl are mad about W, but for me if it makes scenes in lore, I don't mind it. Hell, Give Doctor a gun and call it a day.
I'm fine with 300. I just wish we could carry over from Limited to Limited. The past couple events, I haven't wanted to pull that much... but I still walked away ~80 pulls in each to get the one banner 6* I wanted. It's annoying seeing those get dumped into parametric certs or whatever. Let me carry them forward to the next limited event towards that 300 (or 200 for really old ones).
Reed Alter is near perfection in terms of story and lore, how she became Alter is just great, Jessica Alter is perfection in every way, she's balancing her rational and ideals, the event is just great, Wis'Adel? how about we wait for the story to drop, then judge? after all the Alters, there's no way it will become Chelter where the way she becomes Alter is just "fanservice". People are too quick to judge, it makes me believe the only reason they did that is that they didn't even read the story and every time that kind of person rants on social media, it's solely because the operator they wanted didn't get released/alter, that's it.
The limited banner changes alone are fantastic. On all future limited banners even with the absolute worst possible luck you are guaranteed at least 5 6* operators in 300 pulls with one being the event limited and one being a spark. More realistically you would get 5-6 6* in 300 pulls which gives limited banners a value of between 30 to 40 pulls per 6*. Even if you don't want to go all out you can still guarantee 2 6* and a reduced spark with 200 pulls which is easily manageable in 6 months. As a new player who only spends on monthly pass I'm going for at least one 300 every year and possibly two if there's another limited I really want.
Getting a new and improved version of an old and beloved character that has been left behind by the powercreep will always be a positive for me and Wis'adel looks absolutely mindblowing. I'm really hoping Rosmontis gets the same treatment because I will eternally seethe about how dirty they did her. As for the limited spark, I've been saying since Nian's banner that it should be 200, not 300 but I stopped harbouring hope that would happen a long time ago.
some of that honestly kinda confuses me. like, there were definitely things in the livestream that bothered me, but the theresa thing wasn't one of them, considering she hasn't been dead-dead in the story for a while now and they've been hinting at all that sarkaz-specific lore all along (which most likely wouldn't apply to frostnova). i really wish people would read a bit more of the story, then some misunderstandings could be avoided, and maybe there'd be less drama :')

I didn't watch the cn livestream yet I did hear about Walter. I hate the fact that she's a limited alter of an already limited character. I don't like the concept of limited as it creates fomo. Alters by design are pretty cool as they show character development and are most of the time pretty cool. I wish hypergryph wouldn't have introduced the limited system into ak.
Why FOMO though? I don't feel missing out even if i don't have any limited and you can still continue to play the game without any requirement that you must have a limited operator.

Judging by the frequency of events, not everyone is guaranteed to have 60k orundums in their backpocket to get that 100 pull pity on limited time events, especially for f2ps that are new to the game. And there are certain cases where the non-limited unit featured before the x limited event is strong (whether small events, or rotation banners) that you really cannot pass up (e.g., mlynar, the upcoming ray banner, and the occasional godlike duo rotation of surtr and mudrock for example just to name a few). So lowering the pity spark to 100 isn't really going to do anything other than show goodwill from time to time.
Oru aren't the only source for pulls btw, you get a lot of 1x yellow tickets(3 per event[happens 2-3x] + 4 cert shop a month), 3 10x HH every 1 1/2 months on yellow cert. If you care too much about limited operators as an F2P then you need to forego the conviniences for Meta operators, it's not like you can't play the game without them. Most of the limited operators aren't meta anyways so why do you complain about not getting them if you prefer having meta operators... I'm a F2P and I'm able to get All Limiteds except Ling mostly around 80-150 pulls, ofcourse that says more about my luck, but it still means that the probability isn't too stacked against you that you can't get the limited operator before 300/200.
Hot (or cold) take: If we can have a Theresa holograph projected by some weird artifact, despite her being dead.... what about a certain story relevant character from (mostly) Chapter 6?
I'm late to commenting but like many people also didn't really notice drama. My minor complaints are that 300 feels high when we have 4 Limit banners a year and the old alters going down 100 only after 4 years is rough on new players. (And this is coming from someone who has all limited characters). I think 200 would feel better as the cap point for a limited for the first copy only, potentials can go back up to 300 (Eyjalter took me 270 and Virtuosa took me 220 so this might be my recent bias but that hasn't felt great). And I would like all but the last 2 years of alter characters to be 200, again just to add an incentive for new players to come in and get potentially 2 sparkly limited characters to try out. Love Arknights, playing it since year one and will continue, just some minor gripes where I can see why some people are a little annoyed at HG. Personally, I'm still very content.
Summer limited is basically silly shit. Nothing has been done on character to get new significant lore. (yes this is including Ejya (albeit better) and Gavial).

I am not unhappy that w alter released, it is the fact that there are going to be 4 limited ops in a row. We have Shu, then Ela, then Ash, and now w alter. Having 300 pulls left over is impossible for every dolphin or f2p player.
The problem with HG releasing OP units such as Walter is that they will definitely release event modes or stages in the future with ridiculously hard bosses to compensate for the broken ops' abilities/skills. Take, for example, the recent DoS event. Have any AK creators completed the S-3 stage with only 3*, 4*, or 5* operators? No, they haven't. To complete that stage, we need OP units AND M3 masteries.

It's also strange that the moment you mention that they're not named Theresa but Civilight Eterna, a collectable you can get in IS, the crown you see on Amiya and Theresac, a crown we know holds importance to the story, especially in the Babel event, one of their argument is that it's Theresa using a codename like every operators of Rhodes Island. But they forgot that some operators use their own name as codenames. Even Amiya is just Amiya. I'd go as far to say Kal'tsit is still Kal'tsit and the three letter name is the codename.
And also the Chinese code name 魔王, we know that it was given to Amiya, but now it becomes the code name of ‘Theresa’, and further Lowlight questioned whether she’s the real Theresa in the live stream and ask players to find out in the story. So apparently she’s not a simple existence of Theresa come to live.

Playable Theresa actually is not a Theresa but a literally Civilight Eterna, crown of sarkaz that is projecting herself as Theresa (Source: sprites and description from CN posts).
Exactly, if you look at her base animation, you can literally see her flickering. And as you said she is called “Civilight Eterna”, which is the name of the crown of Sarkaz that Amiya posses
Also, the tone of her JP voice is significantly different from the actual Theresa and sounds more artificial (props to the voice-acting), signifying it is just a reanimation of the previous bearer of the crown.
Also, even before the 5th anniv announcement I saw some people changing their mind about playable Theresa after the release of Babel event. The lore drop actually makes playable Theresa kinda more reasonable

people have problems with both versions of this character being limited, a reasonable position. personally, my only problem is that i think her outfit looks horrendous lmao, the outfit she's wearing in chapters 10-13 look way better, arknights art direction has been straying away from the tacticool designs that drew people into the game. people are overall positive about the anniversary but doesnt mean there isnt any valid criticism.

Thing is, it doesn't help when the event before this are the R6s Collab and Sui event. Two limited close to each other, and then not even for a long break Anniversary. It's way too many banner to pull for a casual or even dolphin player that most likely won't get all the shiny new limited character

I'm kinda used to the doomposting whenever an event like this comes and I just ignore them since the way they see things like this are more only on the surface level, they see a character they don't like, they immediately hate it.
When the majority of the community doesn't even read the story, they usually gloss over the reasoning why the character gets such treatment.
All they like to see is free stuff being spoon fed to them directly, without giving any actual support to the developers.
And as for Theresa being playable, the way I see it is that, she is not the Theresa we know from Babel, but the Manifestation of the Civilight Eterna aka the Black Crown, the crown has the power to record the memories of previous Lord of Fiends, and Theresa being the previous king, it probably took her appearance and memories along with it. I don't know, but I'm kinda excited to see it.

This Walter has one of the most solid reason to have an alter...cuz W is kinda a character who make the whole AK story what it is right know. She even haved the most earliest concept design before lowlight establish Hypergryph while he was in developing girls frontline.

It's all about the story, and releasing characters to complement it.

For me, who have started playing 2 weeks ago and really want old limited operators like Nian and W, the 200 tokens needed instead of 300 is really a saver, this kind of solves almost every anxiety of mine towards the game 🙏

Like for what reason are you so upset about W getting an alter? It's not like they reused assets/artworks to make the design they even iterated on the design from ch. 10, not only that they also still add additional story/lore for the character that gets an alter. We literally have more than 200 unique operators, I'd say we don't have enough alters that are lower rarity that needs more expansion for their lore/story.
As for Theresa it's also another non-issue it's clear that her body has already been resurrected already, I guess maybe it's a weird decision to make her an operator(but it's acceptable depending on how they deliver on the story) but it's already clear that it is not Theresa though but something related to the Sarkaz Crown.
My problem is not to get alters in general. Same event features Fang alter which i love. But W had no reason to get an alter, her new theme song literally states that she hasn't changed why an alter then?

- You need to take to consideration that Babel was the event that realeased before Ch.14 many of the EO aren't related to Babel that well, the only one you mentioned that could have had a chance to get one was Closure.
The funny thing is, HG never forces ppl to pull, and they even give free pulls EVERY limited! They keep cooking and feeding us, which is why we get a DunMesh collab! We even get new languages for old characters every update and modules, which is more than any other gacha game!

I like the older limited going down to 200 is great, and is really nice in terms of viability. The main problem I think is that it feels like this is way too late. If this was maybe 2 or 3 years after each operator, that would be fine, but to have to wait 5 years for the character to get decreased is crazy.

I love and agree with that mentality, we don't even HAVE the story of chapter 14 on CN yet, so how can people sit there and claim that W alter is not story relevant, or that Theresa is non-canon. Like, just wait until the story is out and readable, typically, to the surprise of some it seems, the story that releases alongside new 6 star ops is related to the 6 star ops.
I just think making a limited alter of a limited character is scummy, especially when none of the other limited ops need an alter. I think making WAlter as a non-limited op just makes more sense. The version iffy on alliances and that debuts close to the time of being a villain, and the fully aligned version that has stuck with Rhodes is a normal pullable operator. It just makes sense.
If HG really lower the spark requirement under community pressure, they are going to find other ways to get their revenue back, and it's not necessarily nicer than what we have now. Just look at what happened in CN's 2nd and 3rd summer event: the community rioted for a new banner on a rerun sidestory (Thorn's w/ Heart of Surging Flames rerun) and made HG promise no more new banners for reruns, and what did they do next year? They dropped a freaking limited banner out of nowhere, and despite all the rioting, maintained the summer limited banner in the years after. I'm not saying we should be on the side of the companies and empathise with them, but players should always keep in mind that companies are making games to make money, and any community requests getting in their way of making money would be either ignored or bypassed through another means.

This is going to be one of the best updates in all of arknights, can’t see anything wrong going on
So 2 things:
1. As a F2P player I can accumulate roughly 380 pulls per 6 months. Ex: I saved since Muelsyse and spent about 80 pulls on Typhon and 300 on Virtuosa banner just now. (And 30 pulls on Jessica banner because I just couldn't wait, and got Eunectus.) And Like as a F2P player I want to try to get almost every op in the game (Which I have about 250 ops. 48 of them being 6* +1 because I'm sparking Tex. Alt tomarrow.)
And the best part is when pulling 300 times (I've done only twice) is that I get 38 pulls back because of distinction cert. (I got 360 certs this banner so far, 270 pulls in. But then again I have insane luck.) But like it's easy to accumulate a sh** ton of pulls if you just wait. 6 months is long enough for a F2P player to get 300 to spark.
2. I was kinda upset at how much dmg W alt was doing and thought that it would ruin a lot of squad comps or stuff like that. But a few minutes ago I realized.. How often do I use Ch'en Alt? Never. How often do I use Sutr? Never. How often do I use Myłnar? Almost never. How often do I use any support unit? Rarely unless it's IS or DOS or CC because of Auto deploy and I need to farm stages. And even in these events the only support units that I use are Pozë and Texas Alt. (Which is why I chose to spark. To use her in IS.)
The thing is I almost never use these units because I don't need to. I already have a good squad comp. And since I got Exusaia since I started playing 2 years ago I have NEVER not used her unless I'm using a guide or am trying to clear a stage in a unique way. But she is my primary physical dmg dealer.

Logos and Wisadel banner completely changes how I look at every other banner and my mastery/module plans for the coming months.
First of all Logos is a must have, he is literally my most desired NPC jailbreak together with Ulpianus.
I thought Ascalon was a must have for lore reasons, but compared to Logos she isn't important to me.
Second of all, Logos seems like he will be insanely powerful even though we don't have his numbers yet.
We all know that casters needed a little push to compete with physical damage again, Logos may be that caster. Let's cope together!
Third of all, the insane performance Wisadel displayed on Patriot is a good bonus alongside Logos that also trivialises many other operators that I wanted to get initially, which literally means I can save more pulls for the Logos banner in particular.
The only thing that feels bad is that I already regret maxing out Typhon, and this feels like adding salt to the injury.
The easy way for them to avoid trouble was to swap Logos to be the limited one and Walter to be the standard one.
I’ve seen people upset about limited alter of a limited, I just think it’s kinda funny. Civilight Eterna too, but it makes sense, and it’s Not Theresa herself. I’m overall Very Happy with every addition/change.
Also the limited banner change is very nice, but I’m talking as a player who’s been willing to save for half a year to 300 anyway.
As a global player, I’m looking ahead 6 months with 3-4 limited banners in short succession and events that I’ll have to skip to recoup orundum. I’m glad to see Hypergryph lowering the cost to spark some units (on the most recent limited CN banner), but I’m still anticipating an expensive series of banners. For me, it’s still saving 240 pulls for R6S collabs, and another 200 or 300 pulls to be safe on the other two banners. 6 months of grinding 1-7 😅
I don’t get the whole “milking the fans out of their money” with W Alter. Did these people forget that this is the same Hypergryph that willingly chooses not to sell banger skins when they know they can make a profit out of it?

I don’t mind that W got an Alter since it’s fitting, but wasn’t up for the fact that she’s the Limited… until seeing her kit.
I got this game in like 2020, and started playing seriously end of 2023, but "Let them cook" is something I've been saying a lot. The story, gameplay mechanics, stages, etc. is something I look at, ruminate for a second, then go "Aight, cook." and they have delivered. (This coming from someone who has just gotten to chapter 5)
Even as a completionist, I am happy for W-alter because I see Limited Ops as a new unit I can play with and I can read how the character I liked before have moved forward in their story.

I remember providing a suggestion for having old Limited Operators decrease by 50 sparks after the second time they appear in the shop and that they can cap at 150 at the lowest when it's old enough.
I was actually surprised that they went with just reducing old limited operator (W, Rosmontis, and Nian) by 100 sparks.
I wonder if when the next batch of limited operators reduce to 200 pulls as well (such as Dusk, Skadi-Alter, etc.), would they reduce W, Rosmontis, and Nian even further or will they keep at 200?
I think they reduce the spark o these units when they become 4 years old....which is better then nothing But not that great. especially whenin 4 years most units tend to be powercrept and or are irrelevant. and still 200 pulls is still a lot for what essentially is a useless unit.

My only concern with W Alter is that how the game would start being balanced keeping these units in mind. Not super concerned considering all that has happened so far with Surtr and Chen Alter, but there has been slight balancing updates that one could feel that happened, especially with Surtr. Think they have handled it pretty fine because they have spaced these powercreeps fairly fine. If they do start releasing units like this back to back, then it could be an issue. Granted the veterans probably want harder content to use their units on. Then I see from the last event we had with DOS S-3 where it seemed like everyone mostly used the same comp to clear it and if there was changes, they may have swapped a unit or 2. I think they should try to balance the endgame out a bit more so it doesn't feel like people are pigeonholed into using the same comps.
I had no complaints about the livestream whatsoever, HG is being very generous and I don't think people objectively judged them maybe because they might have been abused by other gachas before lol
and the Alter argument specifically, are we forgetting how Mihoyo used the same characters across 3 games ? lol

my biggest problem with W alter is that it is a limited alter of an already limited operator. W alter also just seems absurd with her DPH actually being game warping. mlynar existing already has caused so many mobs to just have 1000-1500 defense because they straight up need it VS broken ops like him. I also think it is an alter fatigue thing I didn't really feel it about a year ago when people complained about it but it feels like every banner has one. I am 99% sure theresa is the free unit because of her lore significance they want everyone to have her. I am not exactly mad I am scared about the future of the game both banner ops are completely broken and I am starting to get sick of every limited banner having an alter on it.

As a story nerd who reads everything, I am purely hyped for W alter and Theresa.
And on that point, Theresa's unit being named Civilight Eterna and not Theresa has some huge implications which makes the "oh she's resurrected that's dum" argument hold even less water.
Not even mentioning that Theresa being back in some form has been known all the way back since the end of CHAPTER 8 already.
There are definitely some problems raised from the livestreams but overall they will not impact the game negatively to most people. The only one I do agree with is that it was low of them to release such an important character as a limited, while they already had a limited, and made her the same class. It was just uncreative and a cash grab and shouldn’t be repeated. I would also like to say when someone has a complaint and the first point of defense is “well other gachas do it” or “look at these gachas” that a God awful defense. The point of complaining isn’t to complain but to make sure Arknights never becomes like those other gachas cuz it is such a fun, creative, and generous game.
As a FGO player, people complaining about the banner decisions here are crazy when we have a new limited banner every week, a 1% chance to get a max rarity unit instead of a 2% chance, no soft pity, and a hard pity that's so high it might as well be nonexistent.

@@mantruong9612 Why not? Why would it be weird? I don't see any problem with that. It's actually more acceptable. Ch'en, Skadi, Eyja, and Texas all have both regular and limited versions. It doesn't matter whether the regular or the limited version comes first. Two limited versions of the same character is just unpleasant, at least for me.

I'm not sure if the guaranteed Walter at 300 is exclusive to her banner, or if they'll do that for all limiteds going forward. It would be a nice change if you could be guaranteed the limited at 300. Like you said, most of us aren't that unlucky, but I've had two friends now pull on a limited banner with the goal of sparking an old limited, not get the *current* limited in all 300 pulls, so they turn around and use their spark on the current limited. Happened to my friends on Texalter and Eyjaberry banners. Massively unlucky for them for sure but it sucks they saved so much with the goal of sparking someone in particular while getting the so-called rate up limited, then had to forgo their goal.
200 pulls to spark does not make a difference if you're just collecting them. Both Rosmo and W are underwhelming nowadays, Nian can be useful but i don't see the reason to spark her unless you plan on skipping Shu Banner.

Why is resurrection, as one such concept, the proverbial line in the sand the community will not cross?
I get that it may devalue the 'death' of a character but in the moment itself, that death meant something.
And it's currently also not an abused concept.
This is the first time a character has been brought back from dead in AK.
It's not like Theresa just died and was immediately brought back either...
If that even is Theresa, giving her current name as an operator in the game.
She very well could be some Sarkaz summon or manifestation from the crown, which is a relic in the lore, that simply resembles Theresa.
As for death it self; there is a huge difference between story and gameplay.
Just because a character died in the story, doesn't mean a playable kit featuring them shouldn't exist in the game.
If they released an event where say Bagpipe dies, does that mean her character in game should be deleted from our accounts?
No.
It simply means her character wouldn't appear in stories moving forward from her death.
Except if she is referenced by others or appears in flashbacks or events set in the past, when she was still alive and present for said story.
I'm happy with the change to the limited banners as a person who's had unlucky cursed pulls.
I haven't seen backlash only a good response but I don't think the backlash makes sense considering us global players have the power of foresight so saving for what you want is so easy.
My biggest complaint about this anni is that Walter is simply the 3rd sniper in a row with shit ton of damage and basically nothing more except the rng perma camo, it really gets old.
Logos is cool and CE I thought I was going to hate her more than I ended up doing.

@@blitz85 Flingers have pretty well specialization even if their damage is lacking. Rosmo niche with her S3 for ranged only clears is still unparalleled and her S2 AoE stun with module is one of the most consistent in the game. Same with greyy alter, with module his S2 slow has the best uptime in the game and he sees consistent play for 5 stars only clears due to that. The palicos are among the best DPS for 3 stars and lower if you care about those rarities.

@@blitz85 like I said, flingers aren't bad, they're specialized. Rosmo never had good damage but really good utility, she's been consistently used because she's the only sniper able to deploy bodies on the field and have a consistent AoE stun. Obviously those things don't matter for general squads where you can just delete everything from existence but the option is there, and that's what counts. Walter doesn't close any gap, more like the other way around, she's opened another one by being the new big damage operator without any drawbacks that must be surpassed, and that isn't healthy for any game.
She a flinger that actual good for once.

honestly I really didn't want to leaks be true because of I was not sure how would it play out. 3 of most popular characters being released all of sudden. but I am actually quite satisfied with final results and also... I literally showed Mili song to my friend who only plays Limbus company and left AK years ago and then I said It's OUR Mili NOW!

I have lost my pulls to 300 several times as well and when I heard about them 200 degrade for older unit characters, this is honestly a blessing to be honest. In terms of a business stand point it makes total sense for them to be cheaper to get for players to have.
My next point is also on alters, imo I do love alters cause we get characters that have been left behind like Skadi and Chen and many others and now that they make a come back is amazing to me. The reason I say this is for example in Genshin impact we have Diluc, when he was first released people were going crazy about him and now in the present time people are calling his design trash and hoping for a revamp like the fontaine characters and how his burst and ultimate are far lacking compared to the other new units. Essentially being left behind and the gacha game companies cant remake them from my understanding (please correct me if im wrong), but if they change how a character works specifically the ones you pull for the companies can be sued and such and there is a lot of problems with that. This is essentially a way for older characters to be revived and get the love they once had imo. Like for example when Jessica was brought back I completely forgot a lot about her until her alter came back and now its a blessing to play her and remember the character and getting the shine she has just like Skadi and such.
These are just my points.
I just hope they downgrade older limited characters to non-limited. OG W would've been the best one to downgrade since her alter is also limited meaning the old one would have much less hype around it and should be made more available.

You know what, I'm just glad that Logos isn't the limited one because I have been waiting for him ever since I read Mudrock's story on that one mini event (I forgot the name). I have also accepted Theresa becoming playable (I have this headcanon where she's just like Kikyo in Yashahime: that it's the crown being playable and it just took on the form of Theresa) and for Walter, after watching The Dagger's Inheritors and from what I can recall from the main story, I also started to accept her alter. I have not read DM and have yet to read Babel but I know enough that her alter is justified.
Also, this is my 1st gacha game and I didn't even complain about the 300 pulls . It just traumatized me during my pulls on Texas Alter where I only got a single copy after 314 pulls. That guaranted 300 pulls and the spark lowered to 200 for 4-year-old limited ops are heaven-sent for me. This means I can just wait for Chapter 14 to spark W and onwards, I can just save 200 pulls instead of 300 to spark the past limited ops I want. I only have Spalter, Texalter, Ling and Skalter so it means I have a lot of saving to do to spark for W, Rosmontis, Chalter, Eyjaberry, Nian, and Chong.

A Limited unit that also got released as a Limited Unit again but with a different name, I'm pretty sure from that alone, anyone could get the gripe of SOME people (emphasis cause its kinda important). But then again we ask, why exactly W? Did they chose W solely due to the fact how heavily intertwined she is to the existence that is called Theresia? How her Arc literally started at DM and somehow the devs decided that this chapter is the perfect conclusion to her character arc seeing that the last 2 Episodes was about 2 of what she would consider closest allies, Ines & Hoederer? How one of Theresia's wish for her was literally to find her own name, hence its not W, its Wis'Adel?
There's a lot of games out there that would casually do alter for reasons such as "JUST BECAUSE: It's Christmas, It's Halloween, she's suddenly Dark, Happy Thanksgiving, etc", whereas Arknights AT THE VERY LEAST (emphasis cause Ch'en Alter exists, which even I don't know how to defend), tries to find meaning as to why a character has reached the end of their arc and has came out of the other side completely changed, an ALTER.
Now, in regards to how broken she is. Vets aside, I wholeheartedly welcome broken characters not because they trivialize stages for us Veterans, but it helps NEWBIES start strong and enthusiastic when it comes to clearing majority of the content, cause for the love of god, not generalizing here but, not everyone's capable when it comes to strategizing. Pretty sure on the side of the veterans, you'd still get people scratching their head whenever they've hit a wall on the stages since its obviously hard to identify sometimes why you'd fail in the first place. Hence they can take this toy and go to town with it, while we can still just appreciate the toys we've all known and loved.
Now I'm not invalidating the FOMO for some people, that definitely is a valid problem to look into, cause even I, as of this point in global, am still missing both W, Eyjalt, and Virtousa. The difference is I'm quite patient, and that's not a trait everyone possess hence this problem alone I don't have an answer for. I'm quite optimistic at the very least since with the new CN update, 300th pull, you get the Limited unit and you don't have to lose points for it, and on top of that, OLD Limited units have been reduced to 200 points rotation based, so that is a step into slowly getting everyone the Limited units that they've missed.
We're in the 5th year, and the last time that I've experienced this with a certain game, the hype was already dead for me, I've seen everything it had to offer, and I'm pretty confident it can't really surprise me anymore. Arknights so far has done a pretty decent job of setting things up, there's definitely more to come, and with the previous stuff they've done with the engine they're working with to cook up fun mini-games, I can only patiently look forward for more.
Really liked this anni and new W makes me happy and makes sense as she is nearing a breaking point in character development in ch 13. Bummer she's still limited but I don't mind it enought to complain.
it might be reaching for others, but for me W getting alter is like lowlight finally closing the part of the story that HG as a team had cook from the start, W supposedly a lowlight OC for his previous work in Girls' Frontline (GFL) gacha game when he is still in Mica Team/Sunborn, she is in the concept art of the AR team (the protagonist of the story) and even the commander art is similliar with how our dokutah (with mask hoodie thing) in AK, even in AK ppl link her gun with MK18 that would fit enough with the line of gun that the AR team have in GFL (others being M4A1, ST AR-15, M16A1, and M4 SOPMOD II), through the years W seems to be lowlight or HG golden child with a lot of official art, collab and even Ambience Synesthesia 2023 feature W as the the poster girl
and with this alter, W become WisAdel and have implication a significant meaning for the story, for the sarkaz, for kazdel, WisAdel signature weapon for her gun and bomb, now bacome futuristic alien kind of gun and dagger, and HG make sure the dagger have big significant, she hold it in her art, her chibi hold the dagger, even her short animation "The Daggers' Inheritors" show her CQC with her dagger and her Arts to make things explode, it doesn't show her gun anymore
even with the concept art, so far we only have 3, that come out just before the game realese and now at the end of 5th anniv livestream we shown the 4th concept art with a lot of things that we don't know yet, so i excited for what the future come, from more matue and experienced HG through the years they doing this story
the Frostnova one was kind of weird. like if i remember correctly. She's dead dead, like the body is burnt to ashes or how infected die. Theresa is dead, just the crown taking her shape and appearance. Like in halo with Cortana and Dr Halsey. I can see why ppl are mad about W, but for me if it makes scenes in lore, I don't mind it. Hell, Give Doctor a gun and call it a day.

I'm fine with 300. I just wish we could carry over from Limited to Limited. The past couple events, I haven't wanted to pull that much... but I still walked away ~80 pulls in each to get the one banner 6* I wanted. It's annoying seeing those get dumped into parametric certs or whatever. Let me carry them forward to the next limited event towards that 300 (or 200 for really old ones).
Reed Alter is near perfection in terms of story and lore, how she became Alter is just great,

People are too quick to judge, it makes me believe the only reason they did that is that they didn't even read the story and every time that kind of person rants on social media, it's solely because the operator they wanted didn't get released/alter, that's it.
The limited banner changes alone are fantastic. On all future limited banners even with the absolute worst possible luck you are guaranteed at least 5 6* operators in 300 pulls with one being the event limited and one being a spark. More realistically you would get 5-6 6* in 300 pulls which gives limited banners a value of between 30 to 40 pulls per 6*. Even if you don't want to go all out you can still guarantee 2 6* and a reduced spark with 200 pulls which is easily manageable in 6 months. As a new player who only spends on monthly pass I'm going for at least one 300 every year and possibly two if there's another limited I really want.

Getting a new and improved version of an old and beloved character that has been left behind by the powercreep will always be a positive for me and Wis'adel looks absolutely mindblowing.

As for the limited spark, I've been saying since Nian's banner that it should be 200, not 300 but I stopped harbouring hope that would happen a long time ago.
some of that honestly kinda confuses me. like, there were definitely things in the livestream that bothered me, but the theresa thing wasn't one of them, considering she hasn't been dead-dead in the story for a while now and they've been hinting at all that sarkaz-specific lore all along (which most likely wouldn't apply to frostnova). i really wish people would read a bit more of the story, then some misunderstandings could be avoided, and maybe there'd be less drama :')
Well they also have not see the chibi animation too. If they see chibi animation posted after the livestream, they will see Theresa is not her but hologram. (and her name actually reflect this too).

I don't like the concept of limited as it creates fomo. Alters by design are pretty cool as they show character development and are most of the time pretty cool.
I wish hypergryph wouldn't have introduced the limited system into ak.
Why FOMO though? I don't feel missing out even if i don't have any limited and you can still continue to play the game without any requirement that you must have a limited operator.

11:20 Problem here is not in the number of pulls (300, 200 etc.) you need for guaranteed. Problem is in the cost of it for non USD country players.

Judging by the frequency of events, not everyone is guaranteed to have 60k orundums in their backpocket to get that 100 pull pity on limited time events, especially for f2ps that are new to the game. And there are certain cases where the non-limited unit featured before the x limited event is strong (whether small events, or rotation banners) that you really cannot pass up (e.g., mlynar, the upcoming ray banner, and the occasional godlike duo rotation of surtr and mudrock for example just to name a few). So lowering the pity spark to 100 isn't really going to do anything other than show goodwill from time to time.
Oru aren't the only source for pulls btw, you get a lot of 1x yellow tickets(3 per event[happens 2-3x] + 4 cert shop a month), 3 10x HH every 1 1/2 months on yellow cert.
If you care too much about limited operators as an F2P then you need to forego the conviniences for Meta operators, it's not like you can't play the game without them. Most of the limited operators aren't meta anyways so why do you complain about not getting them if you prefer having meta operators...
I'm a F2P and I'm able to get All Limiteds except Ling mostly around 80-150 pulls, ofcourse that says more about my luck, but it still means that the probability isn't too stacked against you that you can't get the limited operator before 300/200.
Hot (or cold) take: If we can have a Theresa holograph projected by some weird artifact, despite her being dead.... what about a certain story relevant character from (mostly) Chapter 6?
I'm late to commenting but like many people also didn't really notice drama. My minor complaints are that 300 feels high when we have 4 Limit banners a year and the old alters going down 100 only after 4 years is rough on new players. (And this is coming from someone who has all limited characters).
I think 200 would feel better as the cap point for a limited for the first copy only, potentials can go back up to 300 (Eyjalter took me 270 and Virtuosa took me 220 so this might be my recent bias but that hasn't felt great).
And I would like all but the last 2 years of alter characters to be 200, again just to add an incentive for new players to come in and get potentially 2 sparkly limited characters to try out.
Love Arknights, playing it since year one and will continue, just some minor gripes where I can see why some people are a little annoyed at HG. Personally, I'm still very content.
For me the only bad thing is that Walter is the Limited One and Civilight Eterna is the Welfare

People didn't mad about W getting an alter. People mad about limited character getting a limited alter. People will be less mad if Logos was the limited banner instead.
My only criticism of W alter is that her drip looks horrendous. Which sadly is in character for her🗿
I have liked alters and have found them very useful. Skadi and Chen never used but there alters use them a lot.
I am not unhappy that w alter released, it is the fact that there are going to be 4 limited ops in a row. We have Shu, then Ela, then Ash, and now w alter. Having 300 pulls left over is impossible for every dolphin or f2p player.
The problem with HG releasing OP units such as Walter is that they will definitely release event modes or stages in the future with ridiculously hard bosses to compensate for the broken ops' abilities/skills. Take, for example, the recent DoS event. Have any AK creators completed the S-3 stage with only 3*, 4*, or 5* operators? No, they haven't. To complete that stage, we need OP units AND M3 masteries.
