    First time I saw this instrument and trying it out, I fell in love in its rich and happy sound.

    Happy to see Tahiti is among your destination of discovery ... I was born and raised in Tahiti, when I moved to Hawaii I heard that the Ukulele initially came from Cook Islands. It’s not something I know for sure but it’s not something us Tahitians really care about. We just enjoy dance, music & ukulele.

    I look out the window in Scotland this year with the virus 2020 and send love to the beautiful Fiji. I have been to Hawaii but not Fiji. Love to all these wonderful musicians.

      Aye well I ken Fiji might be beautiful but is about 2,000 miles from there. I prefer French Polynesia to Hawaii and think it must be better than Fiji too ;o)

    I know it''s probably been 6 years since this video was posted but does Terema Toere or Tefa make those ukulele's for resale? I love how he put the holes on the sides for better resonance! WOW!!

    Do they have a website? I'd love to have a Tahitian Ukulele with the wholes on the sides as well! Mine is on the back, traditionally and at times it get all muffled because like he said, we play them close to our bodies. Awesome video btw!!!

    What kind of fishing line do they use exactly????? I must know! Is it all the same string, or are they different gauges? I make and slap together a lot of weird instruments and that red fishing line SPEAKS TO ME.

  • @tervaaku
    @tervaaku 6 лет назад +1

    I notice the strings are very close to the resonating body and there is no distinction between the body and fingerboard in terms of hight.

    Am I correct in saying that the tuning is not reentrant on this one, unlike the hawai'ian one? Or is the high A dropped by an octave instead of the low C being raised?

    The Tahitian Uke sounds good as an accompaniment instrument, but by itself, it sounds too clunky in my opinion.

    • @TheStringdom
      @TheStringdom  5 лет назад

      Yeah you might have a point there. They do sound great in a bunch of 3 or 4 and more with voice!
