  • Who knew so many adventures could be had in Santander, Colombia? Over 3 days I explored the area of San Gil the adventure capital of Colombia for extreme sports where you can go paragliding the 2nd largest canyon in the world Chicamocha Canyon (also a Colombian National Park), bungee jump, explore natural pools and caves near Curiti as well as explore cute colonial towns. Backpacking Colombia is a great way as a solo traveler to meet new friends and many follow a certain path. Staying at hostels like Trip Monkey and doing tours with Fenixtremes allowed me to meet people on the road.

This looks so amazingly frightful to me but you are conquering those fears! Brave girl, love the call to your Mom and love seeing those little towns. Glad to see this and another awesome adventure.

Thanks for visited Santander. Maybe in your next trip you should to visit another places of the Santander department. For example, the capital Bucaramanga. Girón an heritage town. Beautiful towns as Zapatoca, San Vicente, Tona. The river "las Gachas". Or different waterfall for example "las ventanas de Tisquizoque"

TravelsofSarahFay this is INCREDIBLE! Thank for you making this video. I'll be in Bogota for a week. Would you suggest adding this paragliding experience into the itinerary, or is that not the best use of time?

It takes a bit of a trek to get here. But Barichara and San Gil are a different pace then Bogota and I enjoyed it. Just depends on how long you have.
